Yes, do that, then buy a dedicated PCI_E usb converter (a small board) that has official drivers for USB3 for Vista. Despite my "mental insanity" it works pretty well with my Haswell mobo. I have 100% working USB3.1 ports.2 points
-
I run 32-bit Vista Sp1 on a Haswell machine, I'd gladly run 64-bit, but alas, so: according to you it makes me mentally insane, wow.2 points

Oh, and I'm not aware of fully functional USB3.1 drivers, all of that I had tried here had issues, various issues, You'd better buy a dedicated USB card that supports Vista. Splitters may or may not work.2 points

What is your Vista? 32 or 64bit? 64bit won't work with anything starting with Haswell normally, not only due to USB3.1 issue. There was a post claiming RTM to be more stable.2 points

Telegram still works on XP. Sure you'll have to use an older version and you're gonna get an annoying banner begging you to upgrade your OS, but it still works. Older versions of the TeamSpeak client can also be used as long as the server is also relying on an old version.1 point

I'm chill and quite relaxed, thanks for your worries. I'm staying here seeking purely technological experience (which is getting harder and harder with each day), I don't want to discuss politics, off-topic matters, my personality, my posts from several years ago, rumours, etc, I don't want to be screamed at in CAPSLOCK. (against the rules!) That word wasn't quoted in your original post, so no. Also, I'm not interested in your opinion regarding the site moderation, besides, discussing it in public is indeed against the rules. I gave you a polite hint - I want to be left alone, yet you don't listen. I'm tired of your want-to-be-moderator fantasies. Let's ask @Tripredacus what "has to be" a violation or hasn't. Back on-topic: With your posts you give a very good example of how people shouldn't behave themselves when posting.1 point
-
Chill. Just a figure of speech. Besides, I've seen MSFN Members "threaten" other MSFN Members with "I've screencap'd what you just said, I will use it against you if I need to". That has to be much more in violation of forum rules then some "just messin" phrase and the "literal meaning" of "never heard of". Oh well, life's too short,1 point

Me posting in general or any other section doesn't automatically mean I'm aware of the whole topic/subject. I can reply to a post as if it was a standalone matter. You not even knowing those browsers' names kind of tells a lot. I remember you wrote you couldn't even access your utilities website with them, so what's the point? I didn't know messing with other people was allowed on the forum. I already got several stalkers/weirdos (check my account every minute), guess now I'll be adding someone who messes with me to the collection.1 point

roytam1, is it possible to fix this in browsers? 1. WebGL Angle is enabled only with shaders PS3 and VS3. But previously it worked the same way with shaders 2. Now hardware WebGL Angle cannot be enabled on video cards such as GMA, FX5***, Radeon9***. Is it possible to fix this? Reduce limit to PS2 and VS0. Firefox 43 2. There is a setting webgl.angle.force-warp in the browsers that allows you to enable software (CPU) WebGL1 and WebGL2, but it only works in Win7+. Can this work for XP? 3. Impossible to add user scripts to new K-meleon. http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?9,127553,137397#msg-1373971 point

Really. really bad fonts, I'm very sorry you have this problem. Are you sure it runs at 1280x1024 Pixel, 32-bit colour? Because those usually run at 1280x1024 Pixel and 60hz, not at 75hz. At 75hz it would be like 1024x768.1 point

Thanks for the information! I personally have never heard of it before. I found a review on MalwareTips Forums which is from 2022 and unfortunately not positive. The author does not recommend this security programme. Here is a link: https://malwaretips.com/threads/huorong-internet-security-2022.119308/ But one review is of course not the world.1 point

You're welcome! As I already mentioned, the most recent versions of CustomCSSforFx will contain CSS code targeting the much more recent Firefox versions. That's why I pick only single CSS stylesheets, test them in terms of compatibility and implement them if needed or wanted. The time range for picking them is from July 2019 to August 2020 as I already wrote in a previous post. Maybe, some of the CSS files from more recent CustomCSSforFx versions will also work in Mypal 68 but surely less than in the versions that have been specially adapted for Firefox 68. Apart from that, I prefer those CSS stylesheets that do not contain unnecessary code for versions of Firefox 69 and higher.1 point
-
The stylesheets are not intended to be installed completely. You choose what you want to change and what you like. I only use a very few of them. Custom CSS stylesheets must be permanently adapted to new Firefox versions. Stylesheets that worked in a previous version do not necessarily have to work in the subsequent version. Mypal 68 is based on Firefox 68.12.0esr from August 2020. The regular Firefox 68 version (not esr) was released in July 2019. Thus, you have to look mainly for custom CSS stylesheets published from July 2019 to August 2020. Search for tabs_below_navigation_toolbar_fx68.css which depends on tabs_below_navigation_toolbar_fx65.css which in turn depends on tabs_below_navigation_toolbar.css! That means you have to copy all three files into your profile subfolder chrome\CSS and import the tabs_below_navigation_toolbar_fx68.css file only in your userChrome.css file via the following command: @import "./css/tabs_below_navigation_toolbar_fx68.css"; The good is that once you found working stylesheets they will work in Mypal 68 probably forever. Is mostly finished. It is not for public as I have not changed the name from Firefox to Mypal. Replace the string Firefox by the string Mypal in all files using the "replace all"-function of an editor as, for example, Notepad++! This is very easy and can be done in minutes. In any case, your compatriots would surely appreciate a working German language pack for Mypal 68.13.x. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point
-
Use custom CSS stylesheets from CustomCSSforFx to move the tab bar below the navigation and bookmarks bar! Look at my pictures, and you will see the distances fit perfectly. The custom CSS stylesheet I am using is originally from CustomCSSforFx but it has been modified by me and can't be directly used elsewhere due to special variables and changes. Thus, I won't provide it. But the original CSS stylesheet of course works as it is. And if you don't like a separate search bar, you can move the search function to the address bar. This can even be done natively in Mypal 68's settings, or you change more by using a script or another custom CSS stylesheet. BTW, didn't you actually want to create a German language pack for Mypal 68.13.x? Already published? Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

Thanks! Of course, I have known all this for a long time. Unfortunately, this is a matter of interpretation and definition. Mebibyte (MiB) did not exist in the past. And many use MB as what MiB is now. Explorer, Total Commander and myself use the following old designation MB. The following applies: 1024 B = 1 KB. 1024 KB = 1 MB. 93181864 B = 93181864 : 1024^2 MB ≈ 88.87 MB. That's what is MiB nowadays. The designation MiB emphasises the binary character of the unit and MB is now to be given only a decimal character. So, I agree with you, the Opera download manager on my Android tablet uses the decimal character of MB (1 MB = 1000 KB) and has, in itself, done nothing wrong. I personally prefer to stay with my old designation MB, which is always to be understood in a binary context (1 MB = 1024 KB). Thus, I am definitely not imprecise what of course is to be expected in science but simply old school. Best regards, AstroSkipper1 point

My statement about Malwarebytes' lifetime licence was meant only as an explanation why I prefer to use Malwarebytes Antimalware Premium under Windows XP, no more, no less. This kind of licence can't be obtained anymore. If you own such licence, there is no need for any annual premium subscription, though. As far as I know, the current premium licence to be purchased is valid for all versions, i.e. also for v1 and v3. This was always the case in the past, too. So if you buy a licence today, you can also use it for MBAM v3. This is the statement I received in the Malwarebytes forum from the moderators/administrators. But, as always, the proof is in the pudding. To confirm that one has to contact the support. BTW, the lifetime licence was a great "thing of the past", though. It even works with Malwarebytes v1 and will work with future versions under more recent OSs as already mentioned.1 point

Based on my experience a few months ago, Panda Antivirus Free ran very well and did its job without any problems on my Windows XP SP3 32 Bit computer. It used very few system resources, which is very important for my old computer. I would install it again immediately if Malwarebytes one day stopped delivering virus definitions for the versions under Windows XP. Especially, when such a programme is free of charge. BTW, the main reason for using Malwarebytes is that I own a lifetime licence and can therefore use the real-time protection feature.1 point

Since you neither use nor appreciate the use of antimalware programmes, as you stated very often in this thread and in others, and since you actually have never reported new suggestions in terms of security programmes to move this thread forward, except talking about the same, already mentioned programmes or making offtopic notes, I would like to know what you are actually trying to achieve here. This is the second time you have suggested closing/locking my thread. To speak plainly, one simply doesn't do that, and it's not your job in the capacity of a simple member. In fact, it is a disregard for the hard work I have done here and the time I have spent in researching, installing, fixing, writing, structuring and posting, only to help other people who are looking for security programmes under Windows XP. Besides, I don't think you would like to read such statements, as I quoted above only from your last post, in one of your threads. Would you? And It also doesn't matter at all whether you like my thread or not. So please, reconsider your actions here! Thanks! AstroSkipper1 point

Thank you for the link to this article! Forbes has always been a renowned and excellent source of information of all kinds. Since the list of leading companies for security programmes is kept independent of versions and operating systems, it is relevant here. The editorial implementation there of what is or is not listed is consistent with the concept of security and confirms my stance here in the thread. Thanks again!1 point

Another interesting subject - "Attorneys Investigating Elon Musk Over U.S. Citizenship". "I'll be making a FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] request for his immigration application," he continued. "If he lied anywhere on application we will move to strip him of US citizenship. Stay tuned." Obeidallah said in a follow-up tweet: "Just so everyone knows the facts, while I did make a FOIA request for Elon Musk's immigration application he has to consent to the request before I can get the docs. If he consents, I will share the file. If he refuses to consent then we must ask: What is Elon hiding?!" "As a lawyer Im going to do research to see if @elonmusk in any way lied on his application for US citizenship. I'll be making a FOIA request for his immigration application. If he lied anywhere on application we will move to strip him of US citizenship. Stay tuned." There's alot of news circulating around the new Twitter owner, regarding his real citizenship to be exact: "BREAKING: Prominent attorneys are investigating whether Elon Musk lied on his application for U.S. citizenship," read the post. "If it shows that he lied anywhere on the application, its likely he could be stripped of his of U.S. citizenship and deported." @NotHereToPlayGames and @VistaLover. This is because we don't study the US variant here, in Europe. We have the British variant, like in the rest of the World. I'm sure @Dave-H will confirm, thanks. I mean Canada , Australia, New Zealand , South Africa etc. There's a reason people say : British Empire, Great Britain. And US language is only in the US. P.S. Also, of course, we have the proper English spelling , and when I saw @msfntor spells "color", I was surprised and had (still have?) my doubts he is French. There are *at least* two reasons for us to spell colour, the first one is above, the second is - in French we have a very similar spelling ! "couleur", in this case . So maybe he was/is a (poorly) trained spy ? lol. Here I know (at least) two people with absolutely nice'n'proper English - @Dave-H and @win32.1 point
