1. I still remember one of the most hilarious parts of having to use FOUR different browsers. To drop it down to THREE, I gave Chase MasterCard a call and cancelled a credit card account and when they asked "Why?" I told them that their website has forced me to change web browsers three times in two years and "three strikes, you're out". I've never owned a Chase credit card since. I've threatened to close other accounts, very adamant phone calls, "You will NOT tell me what web brower I can or can not use, you will NOT tell me what Operating System I can or can not use!". Maybe I'm just getting old... "Get off my lawn!"... Or something like that...

 2. I have done several cosmetic tweaks since my last update. I'm officially done tweaking and have everything where I like it. Only need to download and replace one file -- https://www.dropbox.com/s/dzafuzylfgpvqzu/options.zip?dl=0 I don't remember the full list, but to name a few of the changes -- Extensions text on Settings - Basic now lines up with above tabs that were shifted to allow Mouse Gestures to fit even when bold/selected Search dropdown box in Settings - Basic now smaller and text is centered Overall padding between sections has been reduced so most pages don't popup a scrollbar on a 1920x1080 screen Font Size for custom font smaller and centered Switch Tab milliseconds box smaller (I think this one was already centered) Download location boxes larger (admittedly to fit my exact folder selection) Advanced Tab Web Content boxes now displayed in-line with surrounding text Lab Tab prerender box smaller (now the same size as other boxes used throughout various settings) Power Save percentage box now displayed in-line with surrounding text (basically adds a space between the box and the start of the text that follows the box) Security Tab green-box caret now aligns with checkbox

 3. The location of a file doesn't actually have anything to do with its architecture. But, normally if a program installs to Program Files (x86) it is the 32bit version not 64bit. It is the installer that determines where a program is installed, and the installer is just copying files. So you can have a 32bit installer put a 64bit program into Program Files (x86) or experience a similar thing with a modified or malfunctioning OS.

 4. OldNewExplorer is currently broken in the new Windows 11 Insider Preview now, the new OS removed the old ribbon and replaced with UWP-styled options. However, there's a workaround below, but you can try that at ur own risk.

 5. Font and DPI settings fixed and new upload is ready for download, same link as above and reposting link here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/e2pwk0551kbe4b8/360ChromePortable%20%20--%20%20Build%202206%20-%20MSFN%20rebuild%20v2.zip?dl=0

 6. Windows 7 is not supported by Blender anymore, and Requirements further specify “Haswell architecture and newer” which is inhospitable to Vista. Previous versions might be worth a try.

 7. I may have found the cause of that failure. You could try stop the "automatic update" service, delete the "%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\AuthCabs" directory, or even the whole SoftwareDistribution directory (I didn't do that though it seems no harm), reboot (not sure if it is necessary), then the signature validation passes.

 9. No surprise that the game works on Windows 7 because system requirements say that it should, but do not mention Vista. If that is the same NVIDIA driver version that you were using on Vista, then it is puzzling that the error you posted yesterday said “no appropriate graphics hardware acceleration is available.” If you find a solution, I’m sure you will let us know.

 10. many times using setup.exe on game folder instead of autorun.exe on root folder helped fixing it. Quake 3 autorun was 16bit while installer was 32bit

 11. FYI - I just generated a list of all updates (total = 21,348 links) related to 32-bit / 64-bit Windows XP by borrowing something from WSUS Offline Update: https://download.wsusoffline.net Basically I just needed to get several files: package.xml gsort.exe XSLT.vbs xp.xsl Download the latest version of http://download.windowsupdate.com/microsoftupdate/v6/wsusscan/wsusscn2.cab first, then run this to extract the file package.xml afterwards: expand.exe wsusscn2.cab -F:package.cab . expand.exe package.cab package.xml gsort.exe https://trac.wsusoffline.net/trac.fcgi/export/1126/tags/wsusoffline12.0/bin/gsort.exe XSLT.vbs https://trac.wsusoffline.net/trac.fcgi/export/1126/tags/wsusoffline12.0/cmd/XSLT.vbs Then I created my own file called xp.xsl and that's based on another file extract-update-cab-exe-ids-and-locations.xsl as follows: https://trac.wsusoffline.net/trac.fcgi/export/1126/tags/wsusoffline12.0/xslt/extract-update-cab-exe-ids-and-locations.xsl Simply save it as xp.xsl and here's another copy: https://pastebin.com/EB1101eN <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:__="http://schemas.microsoft.com/msus/2004/02/OfflineSync" version="1.0"> <xsl:output omit-xml-declaration="yes" indent="no" method="text" /> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:for-each select="__:OfflineSyncPackage/__:FileLocations/__:FileLocation"> <xsl:if test="contains(@Url, 'windowsxp')"> <xsl:value-of select="@Url" /> <xsl:text>
</xsl:text> </xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Finally put all files under the same directory and then run this, that's how I generated my own list of updates called xp.txt with 21,348 links: cscript.exe //Nologo //B //E:vbs XSLT.vbs package.xml xp.xsl x.txt gsort.exe -u -T . x.txt >xp.txt Not sure if there were anything missing from the latest version of http://download.windowsupdate.com/microsoftupdate/v6/wsusscan/wsusscn2.cab or otherwise? For instance, the oldest version of package.xml available should be https://web.archive.org/web/20051024011634/http://%E2%80%8Bdownload.windowsupdate.com/microsoftupdate/v6/wsusscan/wsusscan.cab and it's dated October 2005. Obviously the abandoned Microsoft JVM http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/msjavwu_8073687b82d41db93f4c2a04af2b34d.exe could still be found inside that particular version of package.xml. However, it's no longer available in the latest version of package.xml anymore.

 12. Don't you do your own backups? I have completely shunned the cloud and yet - amazingly - I haven't lost any data since 1976 (though I admit that some of it is on punch cards and mag tape, which I never transferred into the PC environment). As far as files on my computer go, my oldest Word document in my Documents folder is from 1990 (which is when I started using Word). Never once have these documents been "on the cloud". You cannot espouse advantages of "cloud" computing - which differs from traditional computing with networking in one key point, you don't have control of the communications - because there simply are no advantages for users. The only advantages are for those who would seek to profit from handling your data. Surely you don't believe in a free lunch. The oldest program in my BIN folder is dated 1986, which is when I started accumulating useful applications. It no longer runs on my host system since it's a 16 bit application. However, to this day I still run the NT CLOCK32.EXE application, which is dated late 90s, on my desktop 24/7. Why? Because it accomplishes its purpose (showing me the time and date) with almost no resource consumption. The executable is a whole 42 kBytes in size. My point? There is no reason to believe that "newer is better" when it comes to software. People aren't any smarter than they were decades ago. If anything, they lack the wisdom and prowess people had to develop when computing was more expensive and difficult, and they weren't distracted by their damned phones all the time. -Noel
