  1. Hello there @feodor2 That code was probably ported from Arctic-Fox, a Tycho (Pale Moon 27's platform) fork targeting mainly old Macs: Part1: https://github.com/wicknix/Arctic-Fox/commit/9e6e13a15ae60fc4379b9dd0dd26969784b13a53 Part2: https://github.com/wicknix/Arctic-Fox/commit/bc40f1eb67037a878c0b270f72efb3076cfcf01e That code there affects only FFmpeg's h264 decoder but, by the looks of it, is turned OFF by default; you'd have to create the hidden about:config boolean pref: media.ffmpeg.skip_loop_filter and set it to true to make use of it... I can't speak from experience, because under Vista SP2 32-bit I'm not seeing (rather... hearing ! ) this bug ; but having followed closely related discussions in the past, I can surmise that: Twitter don't care at all for a Pale Moon user-agent (or any other non-mainstream browser they don't support ), so they are treating it as a generic mobile device browser, thus feeding it with a lower quality/bandwidth audio stream encoded in the HE-AAC (v1/v2) profile (more here); most times, they stream using either AppleHLS and/or MPEG-DASH (i.e. fragmented streams), rather than progressive download streams; the ffvpx library patch (to contain additional h.264/aac decoding support) is just a hack to cater to Windows XP's lack of Windows Media Foundation (WMF), i.e. native patented decoders; it hasn't been identified, yet , where exactly things break, but the patched ffvpx can't cope fully with HE-AAC over fragmented (aka adaptive bitrate ) streams, hence the audio distortion under XP (NB: On Vista+, NM28 makes use of WMF decoders [media.wmf.enabled;true] and this issue does not manifest itself... ). Switching to Firefox compatibility UA-mode (or using a Firefox SSUAO for twitter.com) allows Twitter to treat NM28 as a desktop browser and thus it is fed audio in the higher quality/bandwidth AAC-LC format (and possibly via progressive HTTP streams) that ffvpx can decode more efficiently... But YMMV, especially between various sites... Kind regards

  2. I used real VNC enterprse 4.4.4 Client To conect to my XP and use a roytam1 browser. Have clipboard sharing and copy pasta file support its all I need. Best solution would be have some kinda thin client specifically for that purpose. lets face it nothing will get developed to even be close to that good. I have tried the kernelex 18 + kM 74 goanna and it doesn't come close to being acceptable even in a high powered VM.

  3. I've attached RAR5 compressed files with lists of download links for all official updates for Vista 32-bit and 64-bit Post SP2 up to April 2017. Includes all language packs for Vista, IE9 and local Help update. Also included are Ultimate Extras, Optionals and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 / 4.52 with updates. Superseded updates are not included except for a few ones just to satisfy Windows Update. Hotfixes are not included, unless available through Windows Update. Someone please mirror them on Web Archive. ASAP. EDIT: Updated files with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Language Packs. Installing System Updates: If you want to install a language pack, you must do it first, by downloading and running the language pack executable. 1) Download all files from Main_URLs.txt to the same folder. 2) Using WinRAR, sort files by type and unpack all .MSU files to the same folder, overwriting existing files. Then you may delete the .MSU files to save space. 3) Unpack the WindowsVistaSP2_x86_Installer.rar or WindowsVistaSP2_x64_Installer.rar (just batch files) to the same folder where you extracted the files. 4) Open a Command Prompt with Administrator privileges and switch to the folder where the update files are. 5) Run Main_Part1.bat, Main_Part2.bat and Main_Part3.bat. At the end of execution of every batch file, Windows will restart automatically. 6) Optionally you may install local copy of Help update (LangPacks_Help_URLs.txt) and the IE9 language pack (LangPacks_IE9_URLs.txt). PS: It'll take a while to install all 210+ updates. Installing .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 / 4.52 with updates: 1) Download all files from NDP35_45_URLs.txt to the same folder. 2) Unpack the WindowsVistaSP2_x86_Installer.rar or WindowsVistaSP2_x64_Installer.rar (just batch files) to the same folder where you extracted the files. 3) Open a Command Prompt with Administrator privileges and switch to the folder where the update files are. 4) Run NDP35_45_Install.bat, if needed Windows will restart automatically. 5) Optionally you may install a language pack (LangPacks_NDP35SP1_URLs.txt and LangPacks_NDP452_URLs.txt). Installing updates for optional features (only if you have installed IIS, IIS ASP, IIS FTP or Telnet from Program and Features Control Panel extension) Download all files from Features_URLs.txt and run the following .MSU packages if you have installed: IIS: KB4012373 IIS ASP: KB2124261 IIS FTP: KB975254 Telnet: KB960859 and KB3020393

  4. I'm planning to make a simple website that hosts Win9x and DOS downloads only. I made an old thread called the "updated mini list of sotware" and everything there is full of broken links... and honestly, there's no point in depending on some other website to host Win9x specific files. So I can't really "update" that thread in any meaningful way, although I'd like to! So instead, I'm hoping to use my old Geocities webpage and put a ton of Win9x programs on it. I have lots!! That way, I don't have to search google again for non-existing links. I'm Done with that. So I'm going to ask permission here to some people, if I can put a copy of their program(s) on my webpage. Furthermore, I have 520 MB worth of archived freeware (original install files) on my hard disk and on CD backup, and I'd like to post it online... along with my short description. So with that said, I have a few questions: (1) Do the creators of Retrozilla, Retrozilla Community Edition, Firefox Community Edition, Netscape 9 NSS Update, and the other browsers care if I host their programs on my website? I will also make a link to your official page, and back to MSFN forum. (2) If so, do they mind if I rename the file so it's DOS format, aka 8 characters? The program I'm using to build the website only supports DOS filename format, sorry! My bad, I know, but I can't help it at this point. Therefore, I need to shorten something like "RetroZillasuite_tls12_20200021.7z" to say, "retro9x.zip" That's another thing, I'd like to convert the packages (without modifying inside anything of course) to zip format as well. And, of course, I'd appreciate any feedback on further programs to add to the list. What I have posted so far, is just a start. I'm open to adding whatever anybody suggests. As long as it's within limits (freeware ONLY, nothing too big).... which brings me to my last issue.... geocites and their bandwidth limitations!?!? I can't upload any programs at the moment, but when I'm ready to it should be easy. I can't do it on dial-up obviously, so it'll have to wait for a little while when I can borrow a fast computer. Anyway, I have a FREE membership at Geocities, and I don't plan on upgrading anytime. So I'm wondering if somebody can check the Geocities Free Account limits, and tell me if they think it's feasible for hosting half a gig of downloads! Anyways..... if it actually works, I think it'll be pretty cool. Then I can add to my website and never have to deal with stupid broken links again. Here's my website (under construction) http://www.geocities.ws/gcd/index.htm Here's the Geocities description page saying what the limits are.... http://www.geocities.ws/ Lastly, any and all feedback is welcome.

  5. It could be very useful if you wanted to dual boot Windows XP and Windows 10 on UEFI.

  6. When did .NET 4.0 come out again? lol This is what "mobile first" causes, treating most of Generation Z those people on the same level as those actually willing to do anything with their hardware and software - a culture purely focused on making it more convenient for the former to lose even more of their mind, and anyone else to want to be even more stubborn about change.

  7. I've done that many times at my work when people install windows in CSM mode on a uefi system because they don't know better. Just install windows in CSM mode (or use the existing system if it was installed in CSM/BIOS mode) and then boot to windows instal media. Press shift+F10 and open diskpart, format the boot partition in fat32 and use bcdboot to reinstall the boot files with the /f UEFI switch. Reboot, disable CSM and done! Should be much easier than your method and the result will be a UEFI-MBR bootable disk with uefi class 3+ compliance.

  9. I'd rather recommend than listening to the FBI but to upgrade your very unique Brain.exe instead. It's the best anti-virus out there. The only downside is, that Brain.exe can't be bought for money and downloading it is impossible, too. It must be fed proper knowledge to grow. And then one day, you will be capable of using the old operating systems online without running into a wall. Would I recommend to average users who use their brain on other things than computers to use Windows XP and Windows 7 for example? No, because that would put them easily in danger. But if you know, what you are doing, then you'll be able to avoid the problems. Use a hardware firewall, that you can configure. Block unwanted Javascripts. Block everything, you didn't ask for. Don't click on everything that sounds like a promising help to your problems. Learn to read links before clicking on them. These things. Also consider that something like Windows XP got more secure over time, as less and less people were using it. Windows 7 is still a very attractive target for mean hackers with circa 15% market share (2020).
