  2. Just a small hint. If you are using my mod uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.35 with the filter list Bypass Paywalls Clean filters enabled, you can additionally install the corresponding userscript Bypass Paywalls Clean. Some fixes require this userscript to make them work. You can download this script here. There are also language-specific userscripts which can be installed additionally to the English one. For the installation of the userscript(s), you must first install an userscript manager like, for example, Greasemonkey or Tampermonkey if you have not yet done so. Cheers, AstroSkipper

I don't know why I thought to go with these people over an established, reputable company. Can't believe how stupid I am. This company ate up ALL of the operating funds that my nonprofit had to work with, on what? Some bug? We never, ever agreed to this. Literally just signed up yesterday. The free version should not be even offered free. There is NO protection from spam or phishing even if you signal each and every email. You will be bombarded with every imaginable unfiltered email that's out there. The free version is buggy. Ex, cannot send emails, cannot receive emails or they arrive late. Notifications often sent by Tutanota offering to "report" the problem but nothing changes. The spam rules (online) are confusing if looking for help and because your a cheepy who doesn't pay too bad for you. Figure it out for yourself!!" Date of experience: December 14, 2023

  7. Very strange, I can post different links. I remember some users that were constantly posting random youtube videos were restricted, but you never spammed this forum. So, it's strange, indeed. As proof I can post: Crocodile Monitor (Varanus salvadorii) https://a-z-animals.com/animals/crocodile-monitor/

  8. I can remember very well that there was a problem with the sporadic disappearance of the Clean Links' toolbar icon in the past. This seems to be fixed in CleanLink2 as far as I can tell at the moment. In any case, I have installed this version and will see how it behaves.

  9. Wow! Is this thread here about hardware? And performance comparisons between Win XP and Win 10? The answer is crystal clear: Definitely not! This thread should actually provide information about the Thorium browser. Thus, the last 7 posts are therefore completely off-topic. The reader will not learn anything worth knowing about Thorium here. No matter how you feel about this browser.

  13. In the case of https://www.tomsguide.com/, I have to agree with you. It really looks like a CSS issue. But in general, both, JavaScript and CSS, are the main causer for a breakage of websites. And one can't really say that one of the causers is more important than the other. At least, I do think so.

  14. @feodor2 What kind of P4 CPU did you use for testing? My Pentium 4 Northwood CPU is equipped with the SSE2 instruction set at maximum. What is yours? I'm asking you this for a clear reason. The P4 Prescott CPU, for example, was introduced in 2004, and it already has the SSE3 instruction set. Just an idea!

  15. Works for me – thank you for fixing the XP time zone anomaly. Ben. @roytam1 I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you for this wonderful fix. Everything related to local time, date, DST and time zone now works perfectly in my New Moon 28 browser. I also reverted the code of my Clock custom button, and now, it works as it should. Thanks!

  17. Why didn't you say right away that you mean the Adguard filter lists inside uBlock Origin if I understood you correctly this time? Clear questions would be more effective in obtaining suitable answers. Anyway! I will test these filter lists and report. However, in single-process mode, uBlock Origin works great as far as I can say. @feodor2 I performed several tests with uBlock Origin 1.57.2 in the multi-process mode of Mypal 68.14.0b. So far, all filters including the Adguard ones seem to be working as they should. Blocking ads, scripts and other objects on the websites and ad blocker test sites I have selected works, too. I even checked a lot using the uBO's logger. But as I already stated here, uBlock Origin 1.57.2 and previous versions only work in this mode on my computer with a 32-bit single-core CPU if extensions.webextensions.remote is set to false. However, this setting means a kind of neutering the multi-process mode and in my opinion can only be a temporary fix, as it affects all installed extensions in any case. Although I am glad that uBlock Origin 1.57.2 is working in multi-process mode at the moment, I therefore still think that a real fixing of this issue, if possible at all, would be a better solution than partially switching off multi-process mode.

Despite what the "Collaborator" wrote: "Many flags have been added from Ungoogled Chromium, with more planned in the future." https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/discussions/402#discussioncomment-8848901 People write there are "connections to google's servers" https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/discussions/402#discussion-6398329 Do you see the same in Thorium?

  19. I know some still keep saying those two aren't clones, but win32 already explained, all in details, to stop rumours and guesses about the "Ungoogled". https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/494#issuecomment-2067095394 "I am presently working on the --ungoogled-supermium switch, and an installer option to ensure that the browser is only run in this state if necessary. The --ungoogled-supermium switch is mostly based on ungoogled-chromium core patches, but with a few extras from me. At this time I verified that it does not open any connections (specifically, to regional Google CDNs) when launching the browser. However I have just noticed that the Chrome Web Store and YouTube are effectively rendered useless with my latest commit. I will probably retain this behaviour, but put in an opt-out for those who want to continue using those services."

  21. Both SM an TH have terribly smudged, bright, too light fonts, whereas 360 has good, readable fonts, we already posted screenshots in Supermium topic. The reason I avoid both for now, I got an eye trauma after I fell off the second floor of an old hooch in Africa colonies, while on patrol, so it's especially hard for me to read now. What can I suggest? CatsXP 115 has very good, similar fonts to 360, also it switches off the stupid Direct write. But it *of course* includes China telemetry. Later on, CatsXP went the same road and made those terrible fonts, too! Excuse me for any errors, I temporarily don't see well.

  27. uBlock has quite some settings to prevent Chrome's malicious behaviour, for example - block remote fonts, CSP reports, disable pre-fetching (to prevent any connection for blocked network requests), disable hyperlink auditing, etc.

  32. ... Over the course of several previous years, "we" (UXP-users) have witnessed how the platform, in agony, struggled to cope with whatever new Javascript "feature" Google devs came up with, the most notorious of them being the non-polyfillable "operators" ("?.", "??"; read this excellent write-up by @InterLinked); at the time, I was semi-convinced that JS operators such as those would deal the final blow to UXP; thankfully, some talented UXP coders came up with own implementations of these operators, thus UXP was "saved" - but for how long? I'll have to side with NHTPG and, to a good extent, AstroSkipper that the death nail on UXP will be a "new" CSS-related "improvement" (sprinkle with a generous dose of sarcasm here ), implemented in a mixture of CSS code inside/alongside JS code (which seems to be the trend recently ); in the case of UXP, MCP's upstream (Mozilla) have CSS features implemented in Servo/Rust, so MCP can't backport easily, if at all, Mozilla code for these and get away with it; CSS-related UXP issues will keep piling up inside their tracker, with very dim prospect ... Case in point is a CSS bug that has been affecting GitHub in particular for many months now, it was acknowledged exactly one year ago, but so far no activity at all towards a resolution ... This particular "feature" was implemented only in Chromium 99, so it does "invalidate" the popular 360EEv13 and/or KafanMiniBrowser variants on XP/Vista x86; only implemented in Firefox 97, thus putting Mypal68 out of the game, too; if it weren't for the new "additions" (Supermium and its semi-fork Thorium) that appeared at a most opportune time , "we" retro-OS-ers (I just devised this term, ) would have run out of options...

  33. When uBlock Origin is installed, it controls the preloading of websites. You do not have to disable uBlock Origin to control this feature again, you can simply enable the option "Disable pre-fetching" in uBO's dashboard page "Settings" as already mentioned by @Dixel.

  34. As Alex is quite openly stating publicly that he's using code from Supermium, not trying to do it behind Win32ss's back, I would have thought that Win32ss would have done something about it by now if they objected, even if only by initially asking Alex nicely to stop doing it!

  40. I'm not actually seeing that effect. I don't know if that's what Alex is referring to. Good to see that Alex and Win32ss are apparently stealing from each other working together! I had pointed out to Alex that the DigitalSpy forum site displays perfectly natively in Supermium and 360Chrome. There should be a new Thorium XP build soon which hopefully will fix it.

  41. Yep! It works as it was designed. But personally I don't like this design. TZ Clock only shows the time and date when clicking onto the toolbar item. In contrast, my Clock custom button shows the time in the toolbar itself and when hovering, the weekday and date. But in the end, it's always a question of taste.

  43. Hi. If you need to block Google services you can make up for it with various filter lists found in Filterlists. Check which one is best for your needs. In the image I have included a filter in software (choose your adblock) then you can search for “Google”:

  44. FWIW, I have no idea how much Thorium and Supermium can be considered to be 'clones'. As far as I'm concerned if they were clones they would be identical, and that they are not! Although they look so similar they must have both started from the same base, they have different developers working on them, so they have diverged. I'm still very grateful (and still astounded!) that they both work on Windows XP, albeit with some issues, using such a recent Chromium version. A few years ago, I'm sure we all thought that would be absolutely impossible! I'm sticking with Thorium now, although still keeping an eye on where Supermium is going too of course. Thorium has a couple of facilities now that I was really missing after using 360Chrome, natively keeping the browser open when the last tab is closed, without having to use an extension to do it, and double-clicking to close tabs, which I use all the time, and I first got used to back in the days of Presto Opera! The only important (to me) thing still missing is a setting to always open bookmarks in a new tab, which you could also do on 360Chrome. I hate it when you click on a link and it overwrites the current tab. I know you can do it with middle click and the right click menu, but I got used to opening bookmarks automatically in new tabs without having to think about it! There doesn't seem to be an extension which will easily and simply fix that, not that I've found, anyway. I'm very pleased that both the Thorium and Supermium developers seem to now be committed to producing un-Googled versions. For those that want that, I hope they don't have to wait for too long.
