I've noticed that the Service Pack 3 files are creeping through with some

updates though so their's definately one on it's way...

We generally call updates that are released post-service pack as labeled as the next service pack's files. For instance, you can find security updates for Windows 2000 that are listed as SP5, even though there never was an SP5 (even after the post-SP4 rollup). It's nonclemature, and makes tracking patches easier (amongst other things). While I think there's likely to be an SP3 for XP in late '07 or into '08, I'm not betting the farm on it either now that Vista is RTM .

It's not fake, i'll post the file here for you to download...

Run the sigverif program on your system & validate for yourself that

the file IS indeed digitally signed by Microsoft..

There you go smart guy, DOWNLOAD & check it yourself with sigverif..

Tell me it's a fake now..

the patches since SP2 have resource dll's in them that are labeled SP3. You can check the registry for the installed date of hotfixes they are listed under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP3\

Last I heard SP3 was not being released until the end of next year.

Service Pack 3 won't be released at all from what I've read. It kept getting pushed back further and further. [ No, that's against the rules. ]

Most updated files since sp2 have been tagged as sp3 because when it is released they will be included.

Hehehe, I was wondering why Bledd made that response when Cluberti's post was not too far up the page. It's not fake and it's explained right there. But it's not like I really needed to say that, right?
