Because its a bit more stable and a bit more faster than XP - faster meaning like as if you've just upgraded to a faster processor. if youre' having driver problems I suspect drivers for XP also work on w2k3. Once you set it correctly, apply the important patches/updates and tweak a few things here and there; you should have no problems with it. Maybe I was lucky, but that's my story. Anyway, I started used Server 2K3 about 2 months ago and I love it. It runs super smooth and is faster than XP Pro. Why did I changed? Because I wanted to see if it was as good, fast and smooth as others were saying. The MSFN guide gave me the small push I needed to make the change. Se7eNdUsT Posted July 20, 2004 Share Posted July 20, 2004 Properly converted to a workstation using the MSFN guide and then tweaked as you would XP, Server 2003 is the better choice. The whole SP1 issue is not a problem as Server 2003 already comes with many of the XP problems fixed. Unlike what many people have said here, Server 2k3 does not have severe compatibility issues. Most XP/2K drivers are sufficient for Server 2k3. The only problem I've encountered is that Logitech Mouseware drivers don't yet support Server 2k3, but everything still works fine. Also, svr2k3 does not have all the additional (consumer, eye-candy, etc.) features that XP has. As far as stability/security go, the release of SP2 should put XP on par/better than svr2k3.
