is there a way that i can "spy" or see what another computer is doing on my home network from my computer? my dad wants to know what my sister is doing b/c she always turns off the monitor and yells at him whenever he enters the room.

You could install something like 007 spy or an app like it if you can get access to the machine, and then have it email you at set intervals. I use 007 all the time, its a great app. Logs all keystrokes, opened applications, all web sites viewed, screen shots at a user defined time (and you can set the quality of the pic taken to cut down on size)... maybe that'll work for ya.

Haha I guess all ssters are alike because that is what my sis does ocassionaly. I just feel uncomfortable about the intrusion of privacy is all.

I'd just ask her what she's been looking at, that is if you can depend on her being honest about it. I am all for rights to privacy. Unless what she does results in your home network being taken over by spyware/viruses... then she needs to fess up. Heh.

Privacy is a key issue. Just get dad to talk with her, then threaten to remove the pc for xx amount of time. She may be looking at pr0n or cybering or who knows what.

my dads the one who wants me to do it. if any of you remember me creating a post of creating 2 parts with 2 installations of xp, i said that im doing that b/c my sister loaded the comp with viruses and crap. like all girls, you cant trust them, so talking to her wont work.

I remember a program I saw a while back, a keylogger, that could be installed by sending someone a picture in an email. When they open the image file, they see the picture and you spying program is installed. It goes unnoticed and emails you, also unnoticed, the information when you specify.

I tried 007 about 2 years ago. and if i'm not mistaken if its a trial version it will popup a notification about "this computer is running a limited trial of 007 blah blah blah... do you want to disable it?"

i haven't been able to find a freeware alternative.. but my guess is run the 007 on your own computer for about 3 hours or so to make sure its completly silent.

Well if the girl is a bit smart and knows that a program is running that should not be there...then she could run a google and find out about vnc. And also that comment about not trusting girls is pretty uhh interesting...you got something to tell us there buddy? haha

no i dont have anything to tell you, but if you are able to trust one then hang on to her! and she know crap about computers like most girls too.

Yeah, set up UltraVNC so that it runs silently in the background and as "viewer" only and disable the system tray icon. That way, you'll be able to look in on whatever she's doing without affecting her use of the computer. She'll have no clue...

I'm glad I don't live where you live if you're surrounded by girls like that.

You'd be insulting an awful lot of good girlfriend's out there. Better choose your words more carefully next time.

Yup... you just gotta make sure you give them something better than the next guy and they'll never think twice about leaving you... ;)
