@duga3 If you are using a USB to PS2 adapter then the games do stop when using the keyboard and mouse together at the same time. This phenomenon I found out using an ATL graphics card and games on WinXP. The solution would be to use 2 x USB to PS2 adapters, one for the keyboard and one for the mouse.

So, I'm using QEMU 10, which has a USB tablet driver for seamless mouse transition from host to guest.  NUSB 3.6 makes this work with '98 SE perfectly (instead of missing drivers).

Windows ME isn't supported by NUSB 3.6 so I extracted the exe file, right-click > install on every .inf file, run the .bat, then restart.

Explorer has caused an error in EXPLORER.EXE
Explorer will now close.

BUT, THE SEAMLESS MOUSE DRIVER IS WORKING!!

Hmm, maybe explorer needs to be copied?  Backup explorer.exe and copy version from NUSB 3.6 extracted.

Nope.

Anyone know how to get this working on ME, or which .inf to install to just get the Human Interface Device (USB tablet) working properly?

EDIT: I found an older Explorer.exe in \_restore\Temp (Explorer.0, either 199 or 200KB) and copied it over.  The other Explorer.exe had already been replaced by NUSB after driver install, I found (That one was 167KB, matching the NUSB version).  So, with the original Explorer.exe, seamless mouse transition works fine and no more errors.  Hopefully that's that.

Nice that you solved the problem. Normally, there is no reason to install NUSB on Win ME. Win ME has the (HID) drivers by default. Maybe there is a problem between ME and QEMU.

98(SE) has HID drivers by default too.. But what both omit is USB2,0 (EHCI) driver.

The machine is a Dell Dimension 4700 with Win98 installed 'Setup /p i' so APM instead of ACPI.  ICH6 Chipset drivers (Intel 915G) installed.  NUSB3.6E installed -- confirmed by looking at module version #s.   Everything looks okay in Dev Mgr except APM shows '?' -- since the driver is installed this must mean it's not working properly but not sure I care.

Problem is, USB is S ... L ... O ... W.   I'm not sure machine will ever come up with a usb thumb drive inserted (I'll try it overnight tonight).  If restart it in DOS, insert a drive and EXIT it comes up okay, driver is installed (if a never seen device), it shows in My Computer and Device Manager, and it does work -- files can be viewed, copied ... but speeds aren't even up to a healthy floppy drive.   A 5gb collection of files thumb drive to SSD was predicted to take 11 hours but the copy didn't actually seem to be going that fast.  Maybe more like a day or so?

All this is with USB Controller ON in BIOS.  With it OFF there's no USB function and at one point there was no USB in the Deivce Manager either.

What's wrong?   Any ideas for a way forward?

I've not as much experience, with Win98SE (I assume that is what you are using). Maybe NUSB3.3 would have worked better? If you are using Win98FE, then you'll need an older version (Nusb3.2). Alternatively, you can search for sweetlow's USB2.0 Win98 driver; I don't have a link handy, right now.
