eben
installed your pack on win2ksp4 (not nlited).it complains about 3 files while extracting: dxmasf.dll, msdxm.ocx & strmdll.dll. these files should be automatically overwritten, instead it asks for confirmation.after install, mtv.com is still complaining about codecs and telling me to get wmp9. haven't tested with other sites yet. edit: other sites complaining as well.just found out even microsoft doesn't support wmp10 on win2k (official installer told me to **** off, so ... btw: @nuhi: lite preset in nlite messes things up seriously upon install, but hey (i don't care because i know now, too bad i had to find out the hard way )cheers Edited June 10, 2005 by eben
OCedHrt
eben- you can try the stuff I mentioned 2 posts above yours. Not sure if the inf will install on 2k though, and modifying it for 2k will make it fail.

eben
what could have gone wrong?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>let me bring you the bad news. the answer is ... everything well, first of all, did it ever work? Edited June 15, 2005 by eben
OCedHrt
Yes it has worked, it worked fine for me And it still works fine for me Did you ad the plugin for Firefox? The only streams that don't work are the ones w/ the <EMBED SRC> tag. Which can be remedied by forcing an install with the original wmp10 inf and then unintalling it. titou2k
@ZileXaTo localized the package, you need 5 files:3 files from Windows XP SP2:dxmasf.dllmsdxm.ocxstrmdll.dll2 files from WMP10Setup (Microsoft Setup) (in your language):wmploc.dllqasf.dllI don't khnow if this is the problem but you can try. memcache
I tested more than 10 times on Virtual PC. The QTLite is OK, MPC can play.mov files, IE can play embeded .mov files. However, both WMLite andRealLite have problem. MPC can play .wmv and .rm files, but IE can't playembeded .wmv, .mpg and .rm files. The RealAlt 1.4 will make IE happy, however.I'm investicating the difference. But I did not find anything important so far.Any one can provide information? Thanks a lot!I removed both WMP9 and WMP6.4, and do not keep WMP compatibility.
Jeremy
Sheesh, both I and Fridge-RaideR would love it if MPC played RealMedia.
jmbattle
Jeremy, you mean if MPC played RealMedia out of the box, without having to use RealAlternative? In my opinion MPC is arguably too bulky with many codecs integrated into the executable; I would prefer a smaller exe and modularity via dll classes... but then again, this would defeat the object of having everthing within a single exe.Cheers,James
Jeremy
I suppose Zoom Player takes the trophy, then? After all, it's customizability is seemingly unparalleled...
ZileXa
I didn't had time to test with those files... just tried the TTPACK and it works just fine now I like mpc better then Zoomplayer... mpc is free and with dvdplayback support... thats the main reason. And it plays Realmedia! ofcourse you have to install real pack... what's the problem with that? otherwise quicktime should be build in also... nope... don't think people would like that.titou2k thanks for the great packs Edited July 9, 2005 by ZileXa
ZileXa
OK not all is working yet, 2 bugs:1.Can play all Windows Media streams in the browser, can play WM in MPC, but:cannot click links (with Firefox) containing .wmv files, will get a blank page (no downloading). Try for example the links on the bottom of this site:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...ang=en#filelistThese are ASPX links?Normal links like www.google.com/blabla/blalbla/movie.wmv do work.2.I can play Realstreams in my browser... but no RAM and no RM (only the audio plays) playback in MPC.the errors I get:RAM: Cannot Render the fileRM: The following pins failed to find a connectable filter:Stream 1Media Type 0:--------------------------AM_MEDIA_TYPE:majortype: MEDIATYPE_Video {73646976-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}subtype: Unknown GUID Name {30315652-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}formattype: FORMAT_VideoInfo {05589F80-C356-11CE-BF01-00AA0055595A}bFixedSizeSamples: 1bTemporalCompression: 0lSampleSize: 11584cbFormat: 122VIDEOINFOHEADER:rcSource: (0,0)-(0,0)rcTarget: (0,0)-(0,0)dwBitRate: 117958dwBitErrorRate: 0AvgTimePerFrame: 666666BITMAPINFOHEADER:biSize: 40biWidth: 240biHeight: 176biPlanes: 3biBitCount: 12biCompression: RV10biSizeImage: 63360biXPelsPerMeter: 0biYPelsPerMeter: 0biYPelsPerMeter: 0biClrUsed: 0biClrImportant: 0Perhaps this is what Jeremy and Fridge-RaideR mean?
