tim_horton Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 what are the icon choices?xp? me? let the people choose . anyway im sure itll be ok reguardless .keep on keeping on.
Gape Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Gape, why don't use a bytepatcher for that?Because modifiying icons change the size of the file, and that prevents to make the patcher.
Gape Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Why not to make a ResPatcher in Restorator?Restorator is a commercial (not-free) product.
Tihiy Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Yes, but ResPatchers are free for non-commercial use.
MDGx Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Gape:I have a question for all: I think I'll add new desktop icons feature as a seperate DLL, and it will be optional. What do you think? Is it OK?Sounds great.Better to provide an icon library everybody can choose different icons from, than to hex files people may not be comfortable using.BTW: This guy has about 6000 Windows icons in 1 zip [free]:ftp://ptb:sync@ftp.netcult.ch/download/IconCollection.zipHis page:http://www.netcult.ch/elmue/ElmueSoft-en.htm
mkjp Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 The best icon is icon form BEOS.32x32 256 colorsPicture and downloadandResource HackerTM is a freeware utility to view, modify, rename, add, delete and extract resources in 32bit Windows executables and resource files (*.res). erpdude8 Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 I've also got unofficial win98se SP 2.0 beta 3. very good. Some disappointments I like to point out:Updated wupdmgr.exe file not included. I sent this file to you Gape.Hsflop.pdr file is still version 4.10.2223. I will request from MS the Q262232patch for Win98se that includes English hsflop.pdr file v4.10.2224.Unicows.dll file version 1.0.4018. New version of unicows.dll file isnow version 1.1.3790. Go to mdgx's web site and download new Unicows file.Gdi.exe & Gdi32.dll files. Version 4.10.2225 is correct but version DATES are NOT.Those 2 gdi files are dated 8/20/1999 < wrong date! Date should be 3/20/2001just like the ones from the Q289635 Win98 patch.HTML Help files from XP SP2. Mdgx has revised his Html Help 1.41 package thatincludes Html Help files from Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 RC1 whichis version 5.20.3790.1289. Also fixes a recent security problem mentioned inmicrosoft security bulletin ms05-001 & ms article 890175.Hopefully you can include most or all of these in beta 4 or 2.0 RC1, Gape.
mkjp Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 I have a problem.256-color tray icons >>> not workbut I Repair it. http://www.dr-hoiby.com/TrayIconIn256Color/on this web You can test your TrayBar capabilities with this small test
celtish Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 All, I recommend that you should try this BETA on a test system, or on VirtualPC, or on VMWare. Especially, I couldn't test 98lite Sleek support and Uninstallation support very well. If you install it with or without problems, please write on this topic. Please, don't write any new feature request for this version. All new feature requests should be for 2.1"Unofficial" Windows98SE SP2 RC1 Gape's Info Page

erpdude8 Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 thanks gape.---rpcltccm.dll 4.71.3328 3/29/1999 12 AM 26896 bytes---MS KB article 243220 has rpcltccm.dll file version 4.71.3328.0 but file sizeis 26112 bytes and dated 9/08/1999. So that leads me to believe theQ243220 patch has the newer file than what Dcom98 pack has. Here are some other updated files you have not listed in your NeededUpdates list for your Win98se SP:Q240896 opengl32.dll v4.00 721680 bytes 1/07/2000Q319571 keyb.com N/A 19943 bytes 4/10/2002Q242941 serenum.vxd v4.10.2223 20228 bytes 10/08/1999(ms article 242941 incorrectly lists version no. for serenum.vxd files)The 890175 MS05-001 security updates contain hhctrl.ocx file version5.20.3790.233. this version has a known problem noted in the Caveatssection of the security bulletin. Use Html Help 1.41 from Mdgx's siteinstead which has hhctrl.ocx file v5.20.3790.1289 and has no problems.Great that the updated files from the Q257821 patch are included in theWin98se SP. Do you have the full Q257821 win98 patch, gape? if socan you email it to me. click on my username and send me an email.
