bledd
cdexregseekermedia player classici put them into C:\Programs\ and put named shorcuts in the SYSTEM32 folder, to call themso Start, Run, "cdex" would load cdex, "mpc", loads media player classic, and so forth
prathapml
i put them into C:\Programs\ and put named shorcuts in the SYSTEM32 folder, to call themThat is:1. difficult for yourself2. not microsoft's recommended method3. cluttering up with files.Instead, add entries for the names of programs you want to directly run, over here:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
Afterdawn
@ prathapml:is that some sort of %PATH% usage?
prathapml
No, that's the registry key where all paths to known executables are stored. For example, when you type "CMD" into the Run box, windows will look into that registry key to find out where cmd.exe is located.I noticed that bledd was doing something which could be simplified this way, therefore that info! Shotgun
You guys might also want to check out this list of freeware programs. Most of them don't need installing or after installed, they can be easily moved to a USB or CD and runned from there without major problems. http://www.pricelessware.org/thelist/index.htm
