bahamut0 Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 HiI want to know what is the switch of the update Q817787 for SP1?and what is the switch of the Directx 9.0c for SP1 slient install? since this code:dxsetup.exe /slientdidn't work
Incroyable HULK Posted January 16, 2005 Author Posted January 16, 2005 You can always check the proper switch for a hotfixe by going to a command prompt (Start - Run) and type KBxxxxxx.exe /?For DirectX, you have to download the redistribuable version and Unpack the exe
larson Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 @HulkThe last of your SP1 hotfixes are showing to have been released in 2004... Most of these I remember from '03...?
Incroyable HULK Posted January 17, 2005 Author Posted January 17, 2005 I am using the date present on the Download page of the Microsoft Website... perhaps I didn't notice some of them were from 2003.
bahamut0 Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 I did dl the distribution pack for directx and extract it to the folder on$OEM$/$1/Install/directxand run this syntax on the RunOnceEx:REG ADD %KEY%\020 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\directx\dxsetup.exe /slient" /fbut it has this error when i use this string:Invaild common line switchWhen i try to see what kind of switch on the package, i got the following:Invaild common line switchand I cannot just use the dxsetup.exe since it would restart the window and the rest of the program that i have after directx would not install after the window restart.what should I look for it in order to slient install the directx 9.0c into SP1 Windows XP?
bahamut0 Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 btw, the hotfix: KB817787 and Q832483 cannot install for some reason, i use the switch (or without the switchs) and it still say cannot connect to the database so setup haltedI want to know is it impossible to install these two update unattended?
Incroyable HULK Posted January 17, 2005 Author Posted January 17, 2005 For DirectX 9.0c, you have to download this version:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=enFor KB8324873 you must use the following syntax in svcpack.inf:"KB832483.exe /C:""dahotfix.exe /q /n"" /q:a"otherwise you can install from RunOnceEx but the syntax is a bit different...

j4ever Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 KB892211.exe /Q:A /R:N worked for me....although I don't know if u need the /R:N part.....i don't know what its for.
RyanVM Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 /R:N historically means you're telling it to not restart
j4ever Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 ok thanks ryanvm. i also found windows media connect on microsofts site. the file is wmcsetup.exe. i used Q:A R:N for it also.
