a game while installing

Featured Replies

I've came to an idea to include some a small logic game as a DetachedProgram in my unattended setup...

so, what (small) games do you recommend me? :rolleyes:

Genious!!! :thumbup

Minesweeper, Solitare :)

With menu to select which one

Indeed! This is a very good idea!

Play while your windows installs! :lol:

One of those card games like solitaire - or K-Chess or something.

Hopefully it works. I tried having it launch Media Player Classic once and it never loaded.

media player depends on to much things not yet installed at that point

i was thinking about something that twists your brain out, something like Sokoban, but smaller edition...

(no card games please)

how about...Doom...LOL...j/k uhm...its hard to say, I dont really play games a whole lot...mostly gamehouse games, and those are getting old.

A couple versions of Linux include a TETRIS game while you install. I personally found this to be a great way to pass the time.

www.miniclip.com

great little games(im not sure if they aresmall enough0

(some of the need mercomedia flesh or shockwave)

but dude! go watch some TV Play sumthin with your pals/family

or whatever..

if it was an un-unattended install u can use the excuse of "i need to be there when sumthin pops-up"

but man....! you are funny!

(it is nice but not that nice-your idea)

how do you plan to do this? I would like to try also with something like winmine but i wouldnt know how to go about it....

add this to the winnt.sif

[GuiUnattended]
DetachedProgram="\temp\game.exe"

that assumes the game is in c:\temp folder and starts it at T-36 time of the gui setup.

I wouldn't add that to my detached program. You may not want to have that pop up everytime.

Best way to do this is hit SHIFT-F10, should bring up your command prompt, and run your game that way. This way the game will only come up when you really want it, not everytime.

I usually only do this when I'm testing my install, and bored.

Yes, the debug command-line (Shift+F10) is a good option - but newbies won't know of it, and then they may also mess up the setup with using that and bad commands. The game, on the other hand, is to make newbies feel comfortable.

also if the game take some resources it could appear a message like "windows is running out of virtual memory blah blah blah"

that's why i said "a small logic game" ;)

now, the way to make it run is not an issue;
