.NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack

7za.exe x path\to\netfxsp1.7z -oc:\extract\path -y

I don't think there's an actual silent switch, but this will extract netfxsp1.7z to whatever directory you wish. At that point, you can run the msi file with the usual command lines from the batch file.

For the record, the install point compresses down to 10.9MB as a 7zip archive.

And 7z.exe supports all the command switches needed to extract files. Documentation comes with it.

OK, in fact I like 7zip - it gives extremely good compression (therefore huge space savings) in most cases. But I still feel somewhat shackled with it.

RAR sfx'es are much more well-featured. 7-zip doesn't give SFX icon choosing, authenticity verification, the winrar shell extension, recovery record, and lots more.

Then again 7zip is free and WinRAR is not. Still for these purposes you could use WinRAR on a trial basis.

Thanks guys most interesting guide.I must say though having a little trouble in the rar sfx compression bit, cannot seem to find the solid archive tick box in winrar 3.3 I noticed the best compression setting in mode but not solid archive box? missing something not too familiar with winrar? Getting the rar also only down to 17 meg? :unsure:

@shef Sale

Your batch command is executing the extraction. Once that is finished. It will continue with the next line in the batch file, even though .Net still has to install.

I'm using Autoit scripts to monitor the install with the /qb switch used in .Net archive. My script will not proceed until .Net window has closed.

Controlling with a Batchfile? Not sure.

Here is my Autoit exe. Put it in the some folder as setup.exe (.Net archive). And run aDotnet.exe from your batchfile. aDotnet will run setup.exe. Batch will not continue until aDotnet.exe has finished.

Ensure your archive has this in it's comments:

;The comment below contains SFX script commands

Setup=Netfx.msi /qb /norestart

TempMode

Silent=2

Overwrite=1

Good luck. :D P.S. it will delete ASPUSER as well in the script.

LOL I think the joke is on all of us useless I missed something here

This so called SP2 update is for Netfx version 1.0 not netfx version 1.1

I did some surfing at the microsoft support site

The highest version is

netfx

Displays as Version 1927

(1.1.4322.573)

Have a look at this page

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318785

and this one

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318836

three is 3 SP for version 1.0

At the present time I loaded up XP Pro Corp with SP2 with no updates

I did figure out when you install updates now they have a download manager and it saves updates in this folder.. C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download

I already trapped my camera drivers there

Now I'm going for the netframe v1.1

to see if it the same....

LOl I know the page that is refered to says 1.1 SP1 but when I load up the latest 1.1 from the download site and install then go back it doesn't say I need 1.1 sp1..

It maybe for if you have already installed a old version 1.1

HUM

I am downloading the one from the windows update site now ,, cause I got mine from a different MS$ page...That one may have may have/not have SP1 already.. So I'm going to see if it is different

I'm on dial up and it is my bed time..

Jochen,

I've been waiting to get word back from HQ about being able to tell you

there are issues with the FX working properly on FAT32 filesystems, but

there seems to be a hold up. So to make a long story short, you will be

fine on NTFS, but not FAT32 with the version you have loaded. There

will be a final release tracking out a few weeks, this will be the final

release of .NET FX SP1 - the one you want to load on your systems.

cheers,

What the hell............

YEAH! The direct download from MS website of .NET framework 1.1 seems to be updated. Maybe it already has SP1 in it. Notice the "date published" here - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en.

It was previously not march 2004, it was like august 2003 or something..... (I may be wrong, though)

Gonna check on this today. :yes:

The file version are the same before and after

I did a hand install of both

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Displays as Version 1927 (1.1.4322.573)

tomorrow I will do it the same but run install watchpro and save the files to do a beyond compare check too...

I will be confused till then

OK just did a quick compare of the extracted and mix back files posted and the file version for the file MSCOREE.DLL on the cab files is 1.1.4322.573 after you mix them the file versions is 1.1.4322.2032 and that is a older file,,,

When you check the admin services it shows 1.1.4322.573 so I will assume the 2032 is older than the 573,,,, ???????????????????

HUM Where is the beef,,,

Looks like we don't need this...
