Ghost
Not a server, Its only cheap ram, and hates running at stock speed. I just can't afford to trade it in for something better at this stage. Oh by raid, I meant 2x160GB setup in stripe. But you know how this ppl like to rip you off. adds up to 298gb

rupert86
My sys is quite old, but running strong still today. The best thing I like is w/ the RAM OC'ed, office apps run soo fast they don't even show the splash screen . Phyridean
It's a work system as much as it is a leisure system.Realtime digital video editing == RAM and HD hog...yeah, that was a primary concern with my system, and the reason I have so many hard disks...unfortunately I as of yet lack a digital video camera...but for me, video editing is still leisure

Phyridean
@Bâshrat Why the mobile processor? Cooling or power issues?@PalmTreeIsn't it fun when your laptop is faster than your desktop? Mine was that way for a long time...
Tokugawapants
Isn't it fun when your laptop is faster than your desktop? Mine was that way for a long time...My situation is kind of like that. My laptop sayz 860 mhz and my dekstop says 733 mhz, but my desktop is noticably faster, perhaps because it's running Windows 98SE while my laptop is running XP Pro, and also probably because my laptop's processor is a really low voltage one because it wants to have a long battery life (virtual PC says it can't run because the processor needs to be at least Pentium II or equivalent). My laptop also has more RAM than my desktop (364 mb vs 160 mb), but it still seems a lot slower.

Phyridean
So are you using a modded laptop mobo, or do they make desktops that support Mobiles? I've never dealt with the insides of a laptop, but this might be a reason to look at different processors...
vercetti_1765
In my A+ class someone brought in a trashed AMD laptop but the CPU was still good so they put it in a desktop in one of the labs and it worked!

Since getting the laptop, I haven't used my desktop in almost a year.
