Only Germany saves us, like it always does, when Elon Musk puts a reading paywall on Twitter.

I'm sure most of you already heard about the Twitter paywall and terrible limits, even on the "verified" accounts and other drastic limits forced by the new owner Elon Musk.

In the meantime, this German brillant non-profit social network operated by the Mastodon gGmbH is the best alternative for the new corrupt Twitter!

Many accounts are already there! You just need to replace:

https://twitter.com/Example

with

https://mastodon.social/@Example

If the new account name matches with old.

The original server operated by the Mastodon GmbH non-profit organisation. Clean and spam/ads free! Join!

One doesn't need a phone number to join! Isn't it simply wonderful?

Indeed! I always stay away from those who demand it! Thank your for this oustanding discovery, I already found several accounts I need, that moved there from the greedy Twitter!

I also hate Twitter now. I’m proud to say that I was permanently suspended from Mr. Muskrat’s rat nest several months ago! Some of my Twitter friends spoke about moving to Mastodon, but I have not joined (yet). I recently heard that Meta (Facebook’s parent company) has plans to launch an alternative social media platform, and Muskrat is so enraged that he has challenged Mark Zuckerberg to a fight. Get him Zuckerberg!

I read rumours the new Facebook offspring company will also want ones phone number, which is a no go for me.

I'll stay with Mastodon Social for now. I'm sure they have a long way with good stuff ahead.

MSFN users would be pleased to know the German Mastodon Social network works with a wide range of old browsers!

Due to the fact of much less bloat!

Very interesting! TBH, I wasn't a great social media fan in the past. I do have an old Twitter account, though, but migrating to a German non-profit organisation sounds indeed very good. Especially regarding the circumstance that I am German and located in Germany. Thanks for pointing me to that!

I do have an old Twitter account

It might be long gone now or blocked, they demand a "special checking procedure"! It includes more if your personal data to be collected, and another check for your phone/location, also a payment and a "verification", so I refused.

There's alot of news circulating around the new Twitter owner, regarding his real citizenship to be exact:

"BREAKING: Prominent attorneys are investigating whether Elon Musk lied on his application for U.S. citizenship," read the post. "If it shows that he lied anywhere on the application, its likely he could be stripped of his of U.S. citizenship and deported."

Another interesting subject - "Attorneys Investigating Elon Musk Over U.S. Citizenship".

"I'll be making a FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] request for his immigration application," he continued. "If he lied anywhere on application we will move to strip him of US citizenship. Stay tuned."

Obeidallah said in a follow-up tweet: "Just so everyone knows the facts, while I did make a FOIA request for Elon Musk's immigration application he has to consent to the request before I can get the docs. If he consents, I will share the file. If he refuses to consent then we must ask: What is Elon hiding?!"

"As a lawyer Im going to do research to see if @elonmusk in any way lied on his application for US citizenship. I'll be making a FOIA request for his immigration application. If he lied anywhere on application we will move to strip him of US citizenship. Stay tuned."

DISCLAIMER:

It has nothing to do with "racism", I'm just not comfortable sharing any of my personal information with a foreign national, who may or may not be compromised, that's my own choice of course.

In the meantime, I'm fine sharing that very limited amount of my personal information they ask (only email!), with the German Mastodon Social Network!

Keep your info in safe hands!

Twitter is actively trying to combat the large scraping operations that are evidently effecting Twitter's performance negatively. Or perhaps it is an IP situation.

Either way, there are a large amount of websites (at least) in China and Taiwan that basically are just twitter aggregates. A lot of them shut down a couple months ago when the API changed but that only seemed to effect Japanese sites.

This topic is tagged with “German glory”!? Certain MSFN members probably think the German government should order AV Test in Magdeburg to halt all testing of Kaspersky products (or much worse: give Kaspersky low scores instead of the top scores that it generally achieves). I’m an American who believes that freedom of speech is worth fighting for, but I do realize that Europeans don’t necessarily view this right in the same way that I do. To me, the fact that Germany has not suppressed AV Test is an encouraging sign that democracy in Germany is strong - perhaps even stronger than it is in the United States.  I’m proud to be an ally of Germany! 🇩🇪

Yes, glory, it's a glorious German Social Network, which of they are proud, it saves us when Twitter lets down and blocks our accounts, like yours, for example!

Why the heck do you bring off-topic, political, virus discussions to a purely Social Network discussion? I could only guess, but looks like you want to start another fight!

Democracy is not Democracy, when one brings software (Kaspersky) from an evil and hostile dictatorship! It's a national risk and a good case for the NSA!

In the meantime, you can enjoy the glorious German Social Network, while being blocked by a foreign citizen, who now owns the American Twitter, the result of Democracy.:buehehe:

Supposing you were living in country X which has a government that does some shady practices and you had to choose between using spyware programs from country X or country Y (that does similar stuff), from a privacy/security perspective it would be reasonable to use the one from country Y as you would care less about them having your data.

I'm not implying that USA or Germany are anything like that and also no politics here, but still software patriotism doesn't really makes sense to me  (Aside from maybe supporting local developers as you would a sport team)
