Extreme Explorer 360 Chromium 78-86 General Discussion

I would also suggest to disable HIDDEN extensions inside resources.dll

List of Spying/Tracking/Unwanted/Unneeded things/extensions I prefer to disable :

1 - mhjfbmdgcfjbbpaeojofohoefgiehjai PDF Viewer

2 - fjajfjhkeibgmiggdfehjplbhmfkialk CryptoTokenExtension

3 - gfdkimpbcpahaombhbimeihdjnejgicl Feedback to gurgle (!)

4 - Chrome Web Store Cloud Print (who needs that ?!)

5 - Github Polymer "feedback" (!) https://github.com/Polymer/polymer/issues/

6 - Google Network Speech (the code varies) (this may be of some use to @ArcticFoxie only due to gurgle voice , but I'm pretty sure it will still work without it)

7 - ahjtciijnoiaklcomgnblndopackapon Identity API Scope Approval UI (some apps use it to link the user to the gurgle acc.)

8 - Replace ALL occurrences (just break the links, it's enough) , like zzps instead of http:

@Dixel - I must have a before and after screencap demonstrating that these actually DO anything.

It's really not too much to ask to spend the tiny amount of time to do a screencap - I am clearly putting HOURS/DAYS into this project, a screencap is really not too much to ask in return.  :thumbup

I have never witnessed any of them DOING anything and their "presence" in resources.dll is MEANINGLESS unless actually USED.

I would like to remind you, it is not my goal to compile "Iron Redux" (an SRWare Iron version based on Chrome 86).

I am a programmer (but in different programming language).

It is extremely common for "subroutines" to be "present" but NEVER CALLED.

The "presence" of items can ALWAYS be "found" (shadows of old routines, portions of future routines not yet used) - you need to demonstrate that they actually DO something.

Again, I'm not compiling "Iron Redux" - I kindly request to please honor and respect that distinction.

How did video testing go?

Fine , no crashes so far !  Almost like it was 1106 . But 2205 becomes somewhat slower overtime . For example , when I open an instrgam account with plenty of posts and scroll down and down .... like 200-300 posts closer to the bottom it becomes somewhat sluggish, but no crashes , zero , nada . It is still usable , but I didn't like such kind of behaviour  . For those who are wondering , my internet PC config is 16GB DDR3 RAM + Quad Xeon CPU , GTX Titan and Vista WITHOUT updates and without the extended kernel , I do not even have SHA-2 updates. I think I shall continue to use my 360 betas .

I'm not sure what exactly do you want me to capture with this screenshot . First off - removing these speeds up the browser launch , like 2-3x times. You can try and see for yourself . I'm absolutely fine with what you do or don't/won't/not going to do . I'm here as an advisor . I publish my personal discoveries and I have my own modded version . This is a "general discussion" topic , so people can/may want to disable it themselves. And the subroutines are called ! For example , in chromium (ordinary chromium) you can see that these create cookies and "app data".

Perhaps you need to create a new topic and call it smth like "Un-chinified/Un-russified 360 with basic privacy settings and XP skin". Thus avoiding your posts getting lost in this general discussion .

Does removing these "break" any of the "functions" that you and I don't use but that other users may choose to "opt-in"?

Functions like built-in Adfilter, network speed optimizations, hardware acceleration, enable IE DEP, prerender links, built-in anti-tracking privacy protection, Open DoH?

No , but you can always check yourself . It's a 5 min. job to cut these out of the res. file. The browser unpacks these hidden extensions each time you launch it.

I used PassMark AppTimer to time how long it takes 360Chrome to load.

I did this with all six of my Extensions enabled.

My load times are  --  6.7134   0.5007   0.4870

Timed a second set of load times  --  0.5115   0.4851   0.4821

That very first load time (6.7 seconds) is normal for the first load after a reboot (Pale Moon, New Moon, and MyPal [almost all web browsers, as far as that goes] do the same thing for first load after a reboot)

Going to reboot and perform a second set of numbers for comparison.

After a reboot -

My load times are  --  6.1693   0.5173   0.4841

Timed a second set of load times  --  0.4812   0.5065   0.4801

Now I'll try those resource.dll edits and repeat load times for comparison.

I don't see a resources.dll so I am assuming that you meant resources.pak.

resources.pak for Build 2206 contains 1,561 files (one of them just the index.ini).

1,393 of them being typical no-extension files  --  none of them contain the text crbug.

2 of them are .html files  --  neither contain the text crbug.

51 of them are .js files  --  there are 55 results for crbug but all of them are comment lines so that you can read up on the Bug Report for various sections of .js code [we can both agree that changing http to hxxp for a comment line is meaningless].

8 are .json files  --  none contain crbug.

The remaining are all .png files.

options.zip  --  options_page.css

shifted all option tab icons to left by 17px and up by 1px [note: mouse gestures, shortcuts, lab, and adfilter icons shifted up by 2px and advanced and extensions icons did not require upward shift]

all option tab labels shifted left by 12px
