genecooper Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 (edited) My machine updated itself today to 16299.192 and now my areoglass is barely working. I had a blue hue in my active windows (using Noel's rounded corners) and now all I have is a nearly opaque white title bar with almost no transparency in the active and inactive windows as well. The aeroglassgui utility doesn't respond to any requests at all. I will note that the new version downloaded some new symbols upon my first logon. Not sure whether this version needs an update from BM or rounded corners needs an update. Any help appreciated. Update: I signed out and signed in again and now everything's back to normal--colors, transparency, aeroglassgui utility all working again! Edited January 8, 2018 by genecooper
Zod Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 weird.. it didn't do anything to mine... it downloaded the new symbols and kept behaving as it did on the last version.
dna-japan Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 (edited) Mine still has not downloaded symbols yet... even uninstalled-reinstalled, logged out and back in, not sure why. EDIT: forgot to add that my GUI acts the same way as yours genecooper...(Before you logged out and back) it has no effect on AG parameters. Edited January 9, 2018 by dna-japan

bigmuscle Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Do you have correct symsrv.dll and dbghelp.dll?

Assuming the current versions would be installed when AG1.5.7 installs... the symsrv.dll and dbghelp.dll are version 10.0.10150.0 and have a date on them of 06/23/2015. That seems pretty old to me but then again, its the first time I've had to deal with these files using AG and I've been using it for a couple of years now.

Yes, these versions should be correct if you have 64-bit versions of both DLLs. The exact reason of symbol failure can be found in debug.log if verbose logging is enabled.

Or use Aero Glass GUI (also from AG's download page) to turn it on. The symbols downloaded without an issue for me though. Funny thing about this Windows update (and apparently the future ones as well), if you don't run any anti-virus at all, you have to manually set some registry setting to get it. 1
