NoelC
How do you resist the feeling "OMG, I'm going to become infected the instant I start my browser" that's brought on by the hype in the security bulletins? -Noel
dencorso
Easy. My main machine, and most others I own run XP SP3, and up to 2007, they were on 98SE... I simply know, by experience, that's just FUD. Simple as that!
NoelC
My feelings as well. More such anti-FUD needs to be spread. People somehow lose sight of the fact that Microsoft built the vulnerabilities into Windows in the first place. -Noel

NoelC
we do feel a responsibility to get people to a much better place -Microsoft Marketing chief Chris Capossela I'm reminded a little bit of the line near the end of "Cowboys and Aliens" where Col. Dollarhide (Harrison Ford) tells Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig), after his new female (alien) friend has just blown herself into subatomic particles in a nuclear blast... JorgeA
I just tried that original link, and it's working (once again?). The page does say it's been viewed 397,705 times. NoelC
In all seriousness, we must assume the minions in Redmond have all been told that if the company doesn't get Windows 10 on a billion devices that doom and gloom will follow for the company (and thus their jobs). They're already quite aware that they themselves could not do better work than they are doing - which of course led us to the Epic Fail technically of Windows 8/8.1/10. It's not that they're holding back. They're giving it their all. Their all pales by comparison to the hard workers who wrote NT, or Vista, for example - even with all its shortcomings. So what's a minion to do? Claim it's good, shill it, and try their best to hide all the shortcomings. They even think they can control the media. Say something less than glowing on the answers forum and see where it gets you, for example. -Noel
