Monroe Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Thanks for the reminder ... I knew last month it was due but I forgot about it. Now I have to hope for clear skies.
dencorso Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Here's its entry in the NASA eclipse database: <link>Do make a point of watching it... it sure seems it'll be very beautiful, provided the sky where you are be clear at the time.
Monroe Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Another good link ... thanks dencorso ... I've seen several total eclipses of the Moon and they really do look 'blood red" ... the term I remember from years ago was "copper-red" ... but as you said, they are beautiful. Maybe this one will be more red than usual, I don't know.

Tripredacus Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I remember seeing a total lunar eclipse in the 1990s. The moon turned into the Death Star for a night.
dencorso Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 So, brace yourself and prepare for a memorable night, since we're going to have another one tonight!
Flasche Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 So, brace yourself and prepare for a memorable night, since we're going to have another one tonight! Another, wasnt this one the first.
dencorso Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Well, Tripredacus was talking about one he remembered seeing in the '90s... that's why I said "another".In fact, there was one total in Aug 17, 1989 and another, also total, in Dec 9, 1992, plus two more, on Apr 4 and Sep 27, 1996, all of them visible from the US!

Flasche Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 No moon here too see... cloudy night. (at least I could see the red glow where the moon would be)
dencorso Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 It's awfully cloudy here, too! But, in any case the total eclipse should start about 20 min hence, so better visibility is yet to come.cnn has a live feed of it on this page.
ROTS Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I missed it, it was cloudy and rainy followed by heat sinking weather.
Monroe Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Sadly I also did not see the lunar eclipse ... it was cloudy and raining on and off.Did anyone actually see the event? ... how about Brazil, did you get to see it, dencorso?...
