NoelC
the screen started to flash and then gives me a black screen Hold the Control key down to avoid having Aero Glass install. Does the problem persist? Thanks for the tip, but I'm trying to avoid a full blown theme. Just want the basic Glass that bigmuscle is providing here, and if RoundRectRadius can't be made to work in 8.1 then c'est la vie. Yeah, I prefer drop shadows, rounded corners, and not to use a full blown theme as well. Fortunately, Big Muscle's software facilitates replacement of the theme atlas resources, and through that and crafty manipulation of the drop shadow resources that are composited all around a window you can achieve the appearance of small rounded corners. On Win 8.1 this is the dream I'm living - simple and easier on the eyes. I also reduce the size of the Window chrome by importing a registry key saved from a Win 7 system on which the sizes of several elements were reduced. Use this replacement theme atlas file, which adds the appearance of rounded corners through a trick of the light using the drop shadow resources... For dark title text: http://Noel.ProDigitalSoftware.com/ForumPosts/Win81/FauxRoundedCorners.png For light title text (shown above): http://Noel.ProDigitalSoftware.com/ForumPosts/Win81/FauxRoundedCornersLightText.png Here's the registry key data: http://Noel.ProDigitalSoftware.com/ForumPosts/Win81/SetWindowMetrics.reg You may also want to manipulate the colors Aero Glass uses by changing registry entries or through Big Muscle's GUI Tool. I wish Big Muscle would release a completed version of it, but this beta one he released before does actually work, and can make changing the colors and transparency to your liking easier: http://www.glass8.eu/stuff/gui.7z (from this page: http://www.glass8.eu/download.html) -Noel Edited December 9, 2014 by NoelC
DosProbie
but you shouldnt instruct ppl who dont know much about the registry, to wander around there...Well hopefully the OP read Big Muscles instructions before downloading Aero Glass! Of course it's not supported, no symbols available! Edited December 9, 2014 by Tusticles
My1
because 9888 is (or was) just a leaked build which does (or did) not come over Windows Update.
KaddirB
Sorry everyone i was mistaken. The problem is not aero... I think it is my Task Scheduler... I made a new topic about it, so, if anybody knows a fix for this, please reply there. Thanks!

daveo76
Well you could do a hibernation, which turns the pc off but saves the state it was in. But if you have am ssd it would be bad, because of the writing cycles...Maybe disableing fast shutdown could help your problemhibernation doesn't cause any wear and tear to SSD. I been told by a computer shop that SSD can do everything that a HDD can
DosProbie
OK, now moving on.. For those of us that have been with this thread from day 1 Big Muscle had a machine ID generator app that would read out the Hardware ID for specific drive, For the life of me I cant seem to find my copy anymore but if anyone has it please let me know. Thanks, ~DP Edit: Ok after a lot of searching on my different external drives I found the file! its called "HDDDetector.exe" and first mentioned with d/l over here => http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170850-aero-glass-for-win81-125/page-44 Edited December 10, 2014 by DosProbie

And guess what happens at hibernation...
bigmuscle
This is one of the common myths. Yes, SSDs have limited lifetime but even if you write it really heavily, this lifetime will be several tens of years.
My1
well I have read of SSDs that gave up in less than 3 years so I am cautious...
