June 2, 201016 yr Author That's very weird, haven't been reported anything similar, it should detect at least your internal drives or complain that WMI is broken. The issue shouldn't be with your stick, but with your Windows. Have you installed changed anything lately?Try repairing WMI:http://www.nliteos.com/faq.html#Q26http://windowsxp.mvps.org/repairwmi.htmTry also on another computer if you can.
June 7, 201016 yr hi!! Its possible create a version of the program without the WMI requirement? or a way to skip WMI requirement?Every OS that I have installed is stripped .. and I tried with all my bootable windowsPE CDs and everyone have WMI removed I tested your program in a friend´s computer (with a bloated full XP install).. and the USB created works pretty nice!!! June 7, 201016 yr This could be useful for me as well if I need to extract out of an ISO my flash drive while in bartpe and setup the flash drive to install with this program. Just thought I would give it a bump if at all possible... if not then keep up the good work anyway!!~Fizz
June 8, 201016 yr hi!! Its possible create a version of the program without the WMI requirement? or a way to skip WMI requirement?Every OS that I have installed is stripped .. and I tried with all my bootable windowsPE CDs and everyone have WMI removed I tested your program in a friend´s computer (with a bloated full XP install).. and the USB created works pretty nice!!!Meanwhile I go to search a PE bootable enviroment with WMI support...If anyone know one with the WMI let me know.. so not necessary to the coder to change the program if its working ok
June 8, 201016 yr Author It would be possible but tricky without WMI, just much easier using it, all required information about the disks is pulled easily.Could be done using external applications or maybe corresponding dll calls, avoiding WMI, but will require some coding and experiments. If anyone wants to contribute- source code of 0.2.3 is included in the installation. In later versions that module is just about the same. What information is pulled- PNPId of the selected disk, number of partitions, partition type- primary/logical, file system, free space, total space, disk/partition number.

June 11, 201016 yr Hi,I get an error trying to install Win7 from usb (fat32) on a desktop PC-chainloader /bootmgr. Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable formatIt is working fine if I boot VMWare from the same usb and install Win7.Any idea ?I've also test it on 2 laptops + Vmware(didnt make full install though) but is booting just fine !!I guess its only this old desktop PC with AMI BIOS which always gives me hard time . I tried as well different versions of gdlr with no success. No big deal anyway ... I was just curios
June 24, 201016 yr I used WinSetupFromUSB and also another UNetbootin 4.85 & USB MultiBoot 10working for my laptop but not working for my pC. I got blue screen after loading .
June 24, 201016 yr working for my laptop but not working for my pC. I got blue screen after loading . ACPI.SYS is a driver for particular (now pretty much standard) ACPI hardware. Is it possible that your PC mainboard is NOT ACPI compatible? Or that it needs some additional drivers slipstreamed?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Configuration_and_Power_InterfaceWhich settings have you tried in BIOS?Some BIOS do have a setting for "Plug and play OS" or "ACPI" that may affect the installation.Unfortunately often BSOD's messages are not accurate and point to something whilst the actual cause is something completely different.Try using F7 to disable ACPI while booting:http://www.theeldergeek.com/clean_installation_of_windows_xp.htmYou can later re-enable ACPI, sometimes XP is "picky" during installation, but after it works allright.jaclaz
July 6, 201016 yr Finally a method that works! I have tried WinSetupFromUSB 0.2.3 but it didn't keep my unattended settings. Now with WinSetupFromUSB 1.0 beta 6 it just works without regressions. Tested on XP SP3 Professional Dutch with integrated updates (HFSLIP) and heavily tweaked settings. My install source is now almost 3GB in size including all DriverPacks. Very nice how the bootloader automatically detects at which stage setup is! I have not seen any other utility do this correctly!I have tested in VMWARE some common error scenario's like trying to delete the USB partition but setup properly warns me about temporary install files being used. Also noticed the extremely slow FAT32 issue. I would suggest using FAT16 default for USB partitions less than 2GB and NTFS for larger partitions and expressively warn users when the USB stick is FAT32 formatted!I still have a few questions. The setup.cmd script is run before setup.exe is launched. After installation this setup.cmd is found inside the Windows\System32 directory. I have monitored changes but how get this file copied to the harddrive? I've seen no changes to txtsetup.sif. Can't this setup.cmd not be run directly from the USB stick?
