  1. A leatherman and a backup leatherman? You're in the right line of work
  2. I'd try BartPE - you can add your drivers before building a recovery cd. Or see if your drivers are in the ubcd4win driverpacks. Then run chkdsk.
  3. I've used this one: http://www.robvanderwoude.com/files/freespace_vbs.txt
  4. Yes it can - Jaclaz has already listed some tools you can use to do this. But if you just need some clean xp system files, you might be able to use expand.exe and get them straight from your install media instead.
  5. ICS should hand out addresses in the 192.168.0.x range - let it do so by DHCP, don't fix them or change them... What do you mean by "3 good attempts" and "something went wrong"?
  6. The only settings you need to change are the LAN IP address on the DI-604, change that to 192.168.2.1 or anything other than 192.168.0.x Pretty sure the DHCP range will get fixed automatically, but check it too. No need to mess with the WAN settings, or the adsl router. Then reboot the DI-604 and clients and try ICS again. @FAT64 There are two routers (so far) involved here, could do with a diagram...
  7. 192.168.1.X and 192.168.0.X are the WAN and LAN sides of the netgear router, so they're ok. It looks like the only problem is using the USB adapter as an access point, the rest is probably fine.
  8. msgbox.cmd contains the text "format c:" - try changing that to something else and scan the extracted files again? virustotal.com seems busy at the moment.
  9. Depends how you access your backup - if it's a local disk or network share then try robocopy.
  10. You could make a migrate.inf, and add that to your install media. e.g. [Version] Signature = "$Windows NT$" [Addreg] HKLM,"SYSTEM\MountedDevices","\DosDevices\C:",0x00030001,\ CC,CC,CC,CC,00,7E,00,00,00,00,00,00 ;where CCCCCCCC is the disk sig, bytes 440 to 443 of mbr ;00,7E,00,00,00,00 is 32,256 = 63x512
  11. You could try removing the drive letter c:, then subst c: i: then run the installers from "c:" Might work, might not...
  12. If malware is using permissions against you - use a live CD, like ubcd4win. Using FAT because it's easier to clean up seems a bit defeatist. And using an alternate browser is "security through obscurity" ? The main competing browsers are open source...
  13. echo ctrl-G gives an ascii bell - makes a beep in xp but sounds like ding.wav on 98.
  14. I use vmware server - probably a bit more bloaty than workstation 5, but you can't beat the price I run netware 3 on it
  15. is this still ? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...mp;#entry862635 http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=23072 There is no safe delete list - if it's not your pc you don't know what might be in those folders, or even if the "users" folder has been renamed.
  16. You could always try site:msfn.org in google instead.
  17. That's not Engrish, that's English
  18. Also pdftk: http://www.accesspdf.com/pdftk/
  19. That's not an ideal test shot, to show any defects you want to shoot a flat detailed subject parallel to the sensor plane, with the aperture fully open. Otherwise some of the soft focus is due to depth of field.
  20. I'm pretty sure corner softness can't be caused by the camera body - if the lens mount had shifted somehow you might get poor focus, but not just in all four corners. No idea about that lens, I'd go to a shop and try a few. Most will let you try their lenses on your body, so that would at least confirm if the body is ok. If you don't mind the compromise, and can afford it, I've been very impressed with the 18-200 vr, but it's not to everyone's taste. Good luck with it.
  21. I use robocopy, third party gui's are available. Not messed with any windows rsync ports, yet...
  22. You'll get a little bit of corner softness at wide aperture, even with the best lenses. Post a link and people could see. If the lens front element isn't parallel to the back though, it's broken
  23. You could try foldersort by Damien Burke: http://www.jetman.dircon.co.uk/software/foldersort.html
  24. Or just delete the second partition and extend the 200mb one, you can do this during setup. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...st&p=827575
