  1. I don't think it's possible to change the systemdrive once installed. But the only programs affected will be the most sloppy ones, should be very few. You could change the card reader C: to a different letter, then try subst c: h:\ for any stupid programs.
  2. You could try squid and dansguardian. Wont run on windows though.
  3. They use the length of the tracks to identify them. I've had mp3bookhelper recommended before, although I've not tried it recently.
  4. Some people report success with Thinstall, if you have the money: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...=19489&st=0
  5. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=55041
  6. I don't think an OEM key will work without the correct oembios files - if you have these then your os can be pre-activated. No idea what other files make it a royalty oem cd though.
  7. Should be able to do that with wget too.
  8. Where (A) is not equal to (1), is that a software firewall can stop incoming packets from your own lan, which a perimeter device obviously cannot. Whether you need a software firewall depends on how careful you are, and how much you trust the machines on your network.
  9. Not vulnerable as long as you changed the default password, and maybe kill UPnP just for good measure. Software firewalls are still good for program control of course.
  10. The first param is the messagebox text, the second is the window title, third is the sum of the buttons + icon + default, fourth is the timeout in seconds.
  11. After nlite has done its business, put your OEM key back in the winnt.sif, and all should be fine. The key from the bottom of the laptop will not work - it has to be the original OEM one.
  12. http://www.gnu.org/software/wget/ Edit: a windows port I use is here: http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/wget.htm
  13. You wont have NTFS security set up if converting from FAT: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/237399/
  14. You're missing a " there. You could try "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Documents\TestClient_BB.bgi" /all /timer:0 as that has no spaces. Edit: Actually %ALLUSERSPROFILE% wont make any difference
  15. Only way to be sure is to test your restore process, and often. NTbackup isn't "enterprise class", but it's good enough for some.
  16. or for reg tweaks you could try here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=85466
  17. Support for dynamic disks, if you have not yet started the project? And maybe platforms, for those that have both windows and linux versions.
  18. That isn't the same as being the shell though, maybe I'll try it later.
  19. Seagate and Maxtor also have Diskwizard, a free cut down version of Acronis Trueimage 10: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=98368
  20. You could try Nu2shell - I've only heard of it being used with BartPE rather than xp, but it might work. Or there is always cmd.exe
  21. You could edit boot.ini and add /bootlog /noguiboot /sos http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysintern...on/bootini.mspx
  22. If you're using memtest86 I'd test them first with all of them installed - if this shows errors then narrow it down by testing one at a time.
  23. Speed, memory timings, etc Also, just because the sticks are new, doesn't mean they're ok - I've been sold bad sticks before Try memtest86
  24. cloning, but with sysprep? or unattended installs, run from a login script?
  25. Just tried the BartPe version on a machine that I thought had a seagate drive in - it didn't, apparently
