  1. It worked, I have tested it on Virtual Machine with WinXP SP2 Pro and it is working fine . Thanks a lot.
  2. Moto Racer 2 runs fine on windows 98. But when i install it on windows 2000 or windows XP. It always give error of moto.exe - Can't find Dll file for WNASPI32.dll. I have checked it in the directory, it does not exist there . Has anyone faced this problem. Is there anyway to get it working on windows 2000 .
  3. I use WinZip. But to split the compressed file into manageable peices I used WinRaR. Now this functionality is now avaialable in WinZip as well.
  4. I always use Email Address. I know who says ID, it is Yahoo. They call it Yahoo ID though. IDs sound more appropriate with UserNames at different forums etc..
  5. First it came out ten years ago in 1996 when I started using interent. First thing I tried in Internet Cafe was to use MIRC(as I knew nothing abt computer). EveryOne on MIRC used to give out false information regarding themselves. So u need to PLAY a little SAFE when Online. So I always use it when available. It is not my Nick anyway. My Nick is Kami(From Kamran, a Perisan name means successful).
  6. I use Windows 2000 as base system. And in VMware there are WinXP Pro SP2 and 98 as Windows Flavours Just Starting to learn Linux, so have Red Hat 9 on VMware. Cant make out which flavour to start from. Any help woudl be appreciated.
  7. @Zartach thanks for quick reply, I will surely look at the link u provided. And I have SP4 installed at that system. Still there would be something else at the link. Thanks again.
  8. I am using NT Backup on windows 2000 Professional. It is scheduled at Daily Incremental with User credentials. And it backsup One folder on drive D and saves the backedup file to another folder on drive D. It uses the Appends to Media option. It was working fine until I removed that backed up file from destination. I do it at the end of every month to write it on CD and it automatically generates a new file there next time. Now the Backup screen runs, calculate the no. of files to be backed up, but does not start the backing up process and terminates. The NT Backup Report shows following. --------------------- Backup Status Operation: Backup Active backup destination: File Error: The device reported an error on a request to dismount the media. Error reported: Unknown error. ---------------------- What might be the problem.
  9. Thanks a lot slimzky for your reply and help on sfc_oc.dll file. Surely I will give it a try.
  10. I have gone through the site, it seems a goodie. Also the feedback of other users at this forum is nice. Surely i will give it a try. Thanks for the link.
  11. Thanks a lot fizban2, that was of help to me. Can u tell which 3rd party tools would of good use. As, in near furture I might not be able to switch to Domain.
  12. Is there a way to know who deleted the files from a share on network. It would be helpfull if could get either the System Name or UserName. All the systems are running Win2000. Share is also on windows 2000 pro just using workgroup.
  13. I use Symantec's 8.0. It is resource hungary surely but works for me. I must admit that first time I have read abt NOD32. I really did not know it exists. I am really impressed with its rating in this Poll. And will try to test it soon.
  14. I have used this Transformation Pack 4.0. It has great Icons and visual effects. Just wonder why Microsoft did not added it to WinXP. Just a little problem, somtimes it gives Windows File Protection message and asks for Win XP SP2 CD. I usually cancel it. But is there a way to get rid of it. While installation I waited for quite sometime as mentioned at the last step of installation. But still get this message. Regards, Yasir
  15. Un-Married + No Kids The poll results show that atleast Married people dont have time to attend online forums. Do they? With respect to all married people. I agree with "alsiladka" that option unmarried but hooked up should also be added. though I am not from them. I could also come married group like early next decade.
  16. Sorry to interject, but I think I am confused. What is the difference between "Share Permissions" and "NTFS Permissions"...when I right click on a folder and click the security tab...are those SHARE or NTFS permissions that I see... Yes, the Security tab contains NTFS permissions. NTFS permissions are more detailed. And that is where most permissions should be managed. On same window under Sharing Tab, if you select the Radio button to Share the folder then Permissions Button there contains Sharing Permissions. Hope that helps.
  17. As your netwrok is using proxy, so every link u are visiting can be monitored by ur Network admin. As far as sniffing is concerned u should leave it on ur Network Admin discretion wether he wants it or not (bcz not much is in ur control as u would not be even Local Administrator). A simple suggestion, there is not enough places to hide as u go through different service resources, they can all create logs. So dont try to be fancy adn be careful. Regards, Yasir
  18. There is a program reshot at this link www.snapfiles.com/get/regshot.html U can use other system (same OS though), at that system 1- Execute the regshot 2- Apply those tweaks at that system 3- Again execute the regshot Compare the two shots taken at registry and it will give the added and changed keys Report. Go to your original system and remove OR update those entries as u understand. Please please, at least take the registry backup before diong so (In case if something goes wrong) Yasir
  19. It is much better to manage user rights through group membership. Still in your case, I would share C:\Users and use default EveryOne -> Full rights. Then through NTFS permissions give full rights to Administrators Group and give Read and List Folders right to the Users Group. Then for every userX (X being the number 1, 2, ... in ur case) go to UserX folder's NTFS permissions and add UserX to have full permission. But remember to UnCheck "Allow inheritable permission to propogate.. " for the folder UserX and clicking the "Copy" button when a security dialog appears. By choosing the button copy it would keep the parent folder permissions to start with and u dont have to add administrator group again. For me Denying the folder permissions is not the requirement.
  20. Thanks for replies. I have also tested it on windows98 without any firewalls. And the link u provided by GeneralMandible is abt ICS. But the problem I am facing is different. In other words can I bind the two LAN Cards on a system such that it can access resources and file sharings on both LAN cards at all times. In my case One Card is connected to a system with cross cable and second one connects to a DLink switch with straight cable. I have attached a diagram of wht i want to achieve. Regards, Yasir
  21. Hello all, I have some sytems connected through a switch. One system is abt 70 meters from switch I call this system as Network system. I had put another system along it. So I installed second LAN Card in the network system and through cross cable connected it to the newly put system. The problem is that the network system is able to see the all systems of the Network side. But does not show or ping to the newly put system. Whereas the newly put system can ping and access all the resources of directly connected system. Hope u get what i am trying to say. Regards, Yasir
  22. Well, It simply deletes a file named "abc.txt" on My D drive. It is for the test purposes. Does not require any parameters. scr.bat contains only one Line and is located in D:\mamoon\ <code> Wscript d:\mamoon\vfptest.vbs</code> And, vfptest.vbs deletes a file named abc.txt located in same folder <code> strFileName = "D:\Mamoon\abc.txt" Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") objFSO.DeleteFile(strFileName) </code> It works when from command I write "scr.bat". What do you mean by Local System Account, is it "Privilleges of USER GROUP of system". By the way EveryOne group has Full Rights to D drive. Sorry if format is not clean, bcz my system is not putting the Quote tags right. Thanks Regards, YAsir Irfat
  23. Hello all, I have win2k pro. In my systems Local Group Policy I have added a file scr.bat in StartUp. But it never runs. Then I put that file in startup where show file Button links and agian addded to new location. but it is not working. it works fine when I run it in command prompt like > scr.bat Do somebody know what is the problem. Regards, Yasir Irfat.
