  1. Yes now I am thinking of implementing ur second option. I do have network cards in some of printers, i would also use them. Many thanks to all for helping me out.
  2. One thing more I want to mention. Previously, they were mostly automatically added by winXP like "Auto printer on system". And everything was going fine as about 50 systems had these auto-configured printers. But As I installed Symantec Client Security, Firewall included I have to Add Printer manually or through script. i-e Auto printer addition stopped working. And though connections problem arose. So I think that "Auto" did not create a connection until print is sent. Whereas adding printer manually does establish a permanent connections as system gets powered on or either at user Log In.
  3. I have these printers in two floors, on each floor there exists partitioning. In each partition there are about 10 people who use the printer of there own partition. But if for some reason printer gives problem or something else the adjacent partition printers are used, that is why I want to give them access to their own partition and adjacent one also if possible. No they are not for different purposes.
  4. First of all, I m really sorry for coming back to the post so late, I was installing my system and removing virus from it that is why I just could not get online. Regarding problem I face, nmXMemnoch is absolutely right. I m talking about no. of inbound connection and NOT TCP/IP half open connections per second. It is not so good to hear that it cant be improved, without going into the hot debate if it is legal or illegal. I will now try to have a combination of print server and printer directly connected and configured through ethernet cards. Still i have one question, can we change something so that client computer makes a connection to the system when computer sends a print and not while it is powered on. I read this page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328459 again and again, but still unable to understand if it can help me or not.
  5. First of all Welcome to MSFN Forums. If u use NLite, it would be quite easier for u to include drivers. But if u want to do it manually here it is, http://unattended.msfn.org/files/global/MS...attendedPDF.zip For winnt.sif part, you will not find it in the CD, and yes u will have to create it by using support tools in your XP CD. Extract the "setupmgr" and "ref" files on your Hard Disk. Run setupmgr to create a new answer file through a wizard and at last save this text file as winnt.sif. For manual SATA drivers, read "RAID/SATA" drivers section under Device Drivers Introduction.
  6. I prefer Seagate and using it in most systems, but recently switched to Western Digital. The Sata 80GB drives were making a lot of noise whereas WD seems to go fine. Both are reliable though. There is only one vendor in my city who works with WD and they also get it from their Head Office in other city.
  7. Server: Windows 2003 server as Active Directory and domain controller. All clients are using Windows XP Pro SP 2. There are 6 printers attached to 6 different client systems for print sharing. All printer have "List in directory" checked in Sharing Tab of printer properties. There is a limit of ten simultaneous connections for win XP as described by Microsoft. When client computers are switched on in the morning, they start connecting themselves with the print shares, as the limit of ten connections for a system with printer reaches. Other clients get "Unable to connect" message when connecting to printer. I read following related support articles at microsoft.com, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314882 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328459 Is there a workaround so that a connection (session) be made when a system sends a print and not when it is switched on holding a NULL SESSION.
  8. Thanks phkninja, I will try BBIE as it is freeware. I will be back with results.
  9. I have followed the guide along with unattended guide to cerate the DVD with multiple operating systems and different options. You really explained it very well and it is simple to understand. But I have a question, after extracting the iso how do we know which files are boot files.
  10. Thanks for ur quick reply, I have created DVD from this tutorial and the unattended one. But I dont know how I missed the "Support Tools" Page, where it is mentioned to add other tools as well. I will try it and come back with questions if i face some confusion or problem.
  11. Hello everyone, Great collection everyone specially eriqjaffe. I m new to this multiboot CD/DVD work. But i have successfully included OSes mulitple unattended for different requirements and attended for installation (No upgrade or recovery). I want to ask how can I include GHOST and GParted on that DVD and some Hard Disk utilities bootable as well. If there is any post already on this very subject i am looking to read through it. But currently the search function at MSFN.org does not give results as I require. Thanks for any help that is coming
  12. U have certainly done a brilliant job, I would appreciate if you could post abt how u achieved it. What combinations u used for slimming it down. And wht are the functionalities that u trade off. Looking to hear from u early.
  13. I am using VMWare workstation 5.0.0 with guest OS winXP. Over this virtual machine I have captured a video. 1. But i m unable to caprture any audio that is generated in the guest OS. 2. Niether I am able to perform sound recording. This sound recording is working in my HOST OS windows 2000. I have gone through the Sound settings in control panel of guest OS. but it does not seem to have detected any Input device i-e microphone. The thing i wanted to achieve is play a movie on guest OS and record it from there. As I saw the option of capturing movie in VMWare that is why i tried this option. Is there any other software used to capture video of system and Audio as well.
  14. Hoh.... I have seen replay of this shot, i cant really believe, i hardly crossed 4400. And the way his monkey is kicking i-e upwards, well mine monkey kicks more round legged.
  15. Thanks for advise, i ahve improved it a little 4145 4434 But I hope if i could keep the ball stationary on the ground and come in running to kick it hard just like Roberto Carlos, it would have been much better then
  16. Finally got it. from Profile foder -> Local Settings -> Aplication Data -> Microsoft -> Outlook folder with outlook.pst file. Just replaced it in already working system's outlook. and there were all contacts as i wanted.
  17. Here is mine 3921. I have tried a lot but i don't know much about physics . I know this is quite lame excuse.
  18. I will give it a 2.5, as when i run VMware. Otherwise it operates as i want it, then it would be 4.5.
  19. I have looked in Profile folder -> Aplication Data -> Microsoft -> Outlook folder, but there these files does not seem to contain any contacts information. So still wodering if i can get those contacts back?
  20. Thanks allen2 for your prompt reply. Let me check and come back again with the results. Thanks again.
  21. I am unable to boot One System which had windows 2000 installed. The only thing i want is the addresses it had in Microsoft Outlook. I am able to to attach the hard disk to another system and access all the files. Is there some file which i can copy from that hard disk to already working system's MS Outlook installation folder to get the addresses? Thanks.
  22. I have gone through this Post and some of the links. And i m wondering, how can the American Govt. allow this. I have read the reason abt the money they are generating for politics. But, do they think they would not accountable. I cant even think what they will answer on Judgment day. And for parents, if they cant help out their children then nobody can or should. There must be Anti-Drug hospitals or similar facilities in US where parents take care of their child with regular visits. Still the incidents are un-imaginable.
  23. Well, cant say that u would not do it again, some similar mistake may be on its way. Abt VMWare, it is great. It allows us to make all these mistakes and dont worry abt them. It has made my life hell a lot easier B)
  24. Another one, this one was from my colleague. He works at one of our mill's site office. He was keeping backed up data on same hard disk. Earlier this week, system gave an I/O disk error. He thought his job was almost gone with the blunder that took place. But next day from a repair shop data was recovered rather differently. I was told that on repair shop, the person took out the platters of hard disk and put it with another disk board to do the recovery. I dont know if this is true or even possible. Anyone knows about it. EDIT: abt my first post in this poll, i recovered that 35GB data with almost nothing lost. and this was possible by 1. PC Inspector File Recovery 2. Drive Rescue 3. Handy Recovery I got links for it from Hiren's Page http://www.hiren.info/harddisk/data-recovery6.html, it very well explains the basics of data recovery and some links to other good freeware softwares. But really for me these 3 softwares did a grt job. Specially Handy Recovery.
  25. I lost my data (not really mine, but of my network admin). I got it recovered successfully yesterday. I used three softwares 1.
