  1. McoreD Found this on the ProgramData It does get confusing but I've still been able to use %ProgramFiles% as I need to.
  2. I actually started d/l this but didn't want the full BDD 2007 so went and started the other. Both of these posts are identical and are the WAIK and not the BDD. Last BDD I d/l was 1.5GB. this is only 829mb
  3. well I've never understood separating these things cause I use a totally different approach which work's for me and is not that hard to achieve. Install everything to the C: or Windows/Progra Files as normal because most programs will want to go there anyways. Can backup that to a small image also. ALL or any thing saved goes to a separate partition which I protect with backups, Acronis is a nice method and to me is much better than that WHO. You can totally wipe the C: with a UA and restore with updated programs and point them where they need to store or retrieve their data. Fresh and clean With Vista so far i see only ProfilesDirectory and ProgramData folders as being able to relocate. Haven't played with that much cause i don't use My Documents, all that goes elsewhere to the other partition.
  4. or if you want small and simple Jump2Reg http://maxxpsoft.com/3.html , even the HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21 keys
  5. Maybe you did maybe you didn't That account has 0, none, naughta popup. When you're trying to do this you need none of the popups and Continue and all that. It does say Unattended in the Forum doesn't it http://maxxpsoft.com/forums/index.php?show...entry2669 I called him Super because other's here was calling him that, well he does have super elevated privleges even with UAC turned on. It might be simply the Admin but different method's either reveal him or Don't. MS did say he's not enabled by default I done a UA today and after a reboot am unable to simply go and enable that account because it don't exist, I added 1 admin account with my UA so perhap's that bump's this other account out of the picture. I did not delete the catalogs but merely selected Ultimate But that's Ok cause I now am installing my application's without any of the popup's so my objective has been obtained.
  6. Ok i see him now after a reboot, think I know what I done differently was using all the catalogs instead of delete and create only one with Ultimate
  7. not with RC1 Ultimate anyways. I do about 1 UA a day and I don't see what you're talking about. When I tried to add him, Don't even see the Admin account, my user who's an Admin and the Guest account.Did they enable this account in a later release?
  8. read the first post of this, The only way to get the super Admin as I said was in <settings pass="oobeSystem"> I do the <AutoLogon> which enables the super admin and then I turn around and create my first user in <LocalAccounts> which i put in <Group>Administrators. The admin group is not the hidden super admin account and nothing except the AutoLogon will enable this Super right now.
  9. Some soft install's for the current user therefore rendering that no good. Login as my other user theres nothing there. Thats why installing as the super admin is no good except for some thats available to all. My Firefox and Thunderbird setting's including all mail are needed in the other account. Thats what i'm saying. I'm sure there's a way just have to figure it out.
  10. lol fizban, surely you kidding me My UserA is an Administrator that I add right after the <AutoLogon>, i'm talking about ceasin all the popup's tryin to install stuff. You have to disable the UAC to do that for even an admin and then reboot, except the Super Admin i mention above. I'm workin on this since no one has a clue and i'll get it, allway's do. Just thought someone might have already figured it out. I'm talking pure Unattended not having to right click something.
  11. I don't ckick the Create Config Set, all you need is the <UseConfigurationSet>true</UseConfigurationSet in <settings pass="windowsPE"> then simply ,make your $OEM$ sub's same as for xp. Read the deploy.chm to see which have been dropped - a lot. environment variables do work with it. I then can do the FOR %%d IN (c: d: e: f: and run everything from the dvd but have the oem to position certain things instead of separate cmds EDIT: CORRECTION <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Setup" <UseConfigurationSet>true</UseConfigurationSet>
  12. This is what it say's You can't use this thing to install software for UserA bypassing the popup's as some of it install's to the current user which give's me an idea.
  13. Been playing with this a couple week's and see all the other post's about this invisible account you heard it here second, read the Waik notes. Add to settings pass 7 which is "oobeSystem" Under <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" With SIM that's the last entry before it closes the </component> Thats it, the Super Admin, has his UAC enabled but seem's to be able to do anything I've tried without the popup's. I set logonCount to 1 but after a week he still logging on here. Now ? is, how to transfer these right's to another Admin so he can run what he need's and then disable for safety and security.
  14. Love that Super Admin Account, only account can do anything without the annoying popups. I did check and UAC was enabled BTW but in reality wasn't. I am trying to determine how to grant these right's to an Unattended Admin to run everything I want it to.
  15. Might note Nice Docs but does not include the full WAIK for 32 and 64. >> ImgMgr.EXE < Need that if you're looking to see what all is available. Only available right now if you download the full BDD of which it's a sub part. The folder for WAIK is 719 MB here out of a 1.5GB download of BDD. BTW, same exact doc's contained within the Full.
  16. hey anyone d/l it should have enough sense to have a way out if it don't work Sys restore or Acronis True Image get's me back but I'm game for anything almost just to see the difference Be smart about what you apply to your system, have a way back
  17. A NOTE: anyone should certainly look it over before applying in FULL Was unable to open .chm file's after that No big thing for me, sys restore fixed it.
  18. Done with RC1 Well several unsucessful attempts at trying to use this method, thank goodness for RW Decided to look it over a bit. Looks to be a ram drive which is not helpful for installing, look it over and there's no install.wim copied to it. After several unsucessful attempt's I finaly pointed it to the correct drive for the dvd F: and it installed.
  19. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=66127 Not a program but most that can be done for FREE Heres a free thing although not complete http://www.winguides.com/guides.php?guide=software choose the Windows Registry Guide 2003
  20. To answer the original What happened to Blackviper.com? I had been visiting his site when he first started it and was reading his pages right before he took it offline. Can't remember exactly when as it has been awhile. Other sites were cloning his stuff and posting it like it was their own. I know he emailed several site's and some took it off but other's didn't. He finally got disgusted with it and took it offline. I saved some stuff from there cause I've seen these thing's disappear before and his was the best.
  21. You can add this, safe [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Reliability] "ShutdownDoStateSnapshot"=dword:00000002 I can't find anything on this IForceShutdown and I don't have but I have XP pro [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{4F05869A-686B-45B0-90B8-82707B9A8510}] @="IForceShutdown" Be curious to know whats in that full key You have a CE device also with those clientshutdown.exe" entries. Did this start after that was installed or maybe Server Installs by default. Changing my ShutdownTime made no difference here.
  22. http://www.tweakxp.com/article37077.aspx
  23. Rename to RegSrchXP.vbs Run this and type in Shutdown Attach your file so I can compare This is not for 9X Me and such unless you change TOP Line Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 to REGEDIT4
  24. Wishlist: Update your install to use Innosetup so will install over the top of existing. Perhaps using the Ignore Version Flag When I ran this new ver 2.6 it acted like it uninstalled the old then I ran again and got that fatal error file in use, reboot is only thing to delete the existing Prog Files and then had to run the install again. InnoSetup is much much better Installer, Silent, more powerfull and free.
  25. Apparently if Vista suck's on your PC then you apparently have a piece of crap computer and it simply don't run good. My My lets blame the world for all our problem's, anyone out there will send me a million dollar's cause i don't like Linux? The graphic's still suck here. I'm only using Vista Beta 2 right now but the speed and graphic;'s rock on my sucky onboard vid card. Maybe because I have 1GB dual channel memory perhap's. Maybe because MS is fixing a couple things. Yeah I like XP cause it not as much trouble as previous versions but to me Vista look's promising. I'll have to wait and see the price cause i can run XP till it come's down.
