Login as ADMIN on first boot
maxXPsoft replied to mehargags's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
If you doing this by DVD Then you need both of my posts for 2 answers Admin look here http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=84696 but don't read past my first post there cause what I put there works Disable UAC at Install short of using vlite or something look here http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=90863 Now, If these work for you then you must do 2 things REPLY to both to bring them back to top, ok These are the 100% short answers, results of nearly 100 installs, not crappy VM. Yes I do test severely the real way with Dvd-RW. -
look above dcyphure post, I said a newer version was posted. how convenientMAVERICK Theres a whole lot there to begin with. I seen all the posts about an xml creator so I thought I'd release this light version mainly to cover that. I did say if theres something you need added to it then let me know. Light will do the drivers although the semi hard way but actually the best. Supply a drive letter and mine install with all Ctrl panels for my Nvidia in Display properties. Theres more I've already added to the Full but lets get past the other stuff first. I started to blank the servicing in the light also but its close. The light will do a complete install with a lot of options. What to add? A whole lot if you have the people will tell you I've already eliminated OEMs, a better driver method, close to gettin updates, Dream Scene which is a nice eye candy thing and anything else someone might need.

Using <UseConfigurationSet>true</UseConfigurationSet> under <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Setup" and leaving the AutoUnattend.xml on root of drive will copy the whole dvd to what I said in Windows, sorta like the I386 of past. Who wants that? Takes longer to install and everything. + side = Using that the OEMs get copied down. BTW, If you place your AutoUnattend.xml on a USB stick it copies the whole Dir to Windows\Configsetroot. Not sure about sub folders as when I had that on my floppy there were no Subs Whats the alternative? Everything you would place in OEMs just mountrw the image and copy it all over to correct dirs Remove <UseConfigurationSet>true</UseConfigurationSet> setting and leave the xml on root and NO Windows\Configsetroot folder

Depends on what level you want to do those things. I personally have used pratically every utility whether it was a shareware version or else out there and now they are collecting dust since i learned to do most those things on my own with reg edits, .cmd files or vbs scripts. By doing it that way you know whats applied and know where to go to get rid of it... Might note what works for one PC may not work for the next been my experience. Its usefull to have several things available.
-
well several Installs later it won't put the ctrl panel for my Vid driver into the display properties using this method but it does add it in the taskbar. Now a new twist I left the xml on root of dvd and didn't use %configsetroot% on anything only the <UseConfigurationSet>true and it copied down the whole DVD to Windows\configsetroot folder. ?? When you think you understand whats going on and make a minor change and MS throws curve balls at you. Back to the drawing board

E:\sources\pnpDrivers I'm creating running an install shortly with that version and know more then
-
<component name="Microsoft-Windows-PnpCustomizationsWinPE" Paste what you have in that should be similar to <Path>F:\sources\pnpDrivers</Path> so in uaDVD\sources\pnpDrivers there should be sub folders named 1, 2 and so on Worked fine for me but I see another thing with servicing needs fixed.

I have a Sata/Raid computer but its not setup for RAID. Just back from an install where I specified too many drivers on the Sata/Raid and it BSOD. It will do that. Use only the drivers Vista does not include unless your's are newer. Look at setupact.log in Panther folder if you crash and it will tell more. Hope that helped

VISTA ONLY --- all flavors of DVD installation I'll say maybe. No WDS as no one has requested or helped in anyway. Adds Wallpapers including setting one for Vista desktop, Fonts, Drivers, Quicklaunch, DreamScene for Ultimate, Some Tweaks including disable UAC or make it less annoying, Add all your .cmd, .reg, .vbs scripts, Cleanup.cmd, and the very very best Application Installer for unattended thats not very hard to work with. Runoncex format. No code to decipher. My Installers are Inno setup. You can run it right over the top of previous versions unless I tell you otherwise. Will pick up where you left off. Will get you to Download This is the Application Installer running on the desktop in Vista with a few of my needed applications. Currently can run up to 60 Apps and I can add room for more.

Exit was it For a quick test I set to show disk config PnPIBS: Building the list of drivers in the path F:\sources\pnpDrivers ... PnPIBS: Found the directory 1. PnPIBS: Building the list of drivers in the path F:\sources\pnpDrivers\1 ... I copied the log and done a set I'll have to run full Install now and see what happens. BTW, Don't close that cmd window. You going for a reboot!!!
-
I did use an exit, It don't even show on screen so be no good to do a pause. Not that will matter cause can Alt Tab to it maybe. I'll leave off the exit and see.

FireGeier, No luck yet exactly how are they calling setup adfter running the cmd? I've tried it with /noreboot and every way I can see and it reboots after running that cmd. Dam MS, why no DVD variable or anything. Be too easy to include that, they set configsetroot and all well really you think of it there was no CD variable in XP, had to do it ourselves right

maxXPsoft replied to prathapml's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
your right I don't understand here's a working sample, made for my preferences edit what I'm trying to say is a lot of these have been posted and not even 1 will work for you, you need the WAIK and be very careful even then, a bad entry will crash you, been there done that about a 100 times till I got what I wanted from all my tests -
Its no problem I burn to RW and use the floppy for the xml so i can test in short time I have winpe.chm and seen this in there but i'll check it out soon.

a sample autounattend.xml - working good
maxXPsoft replied to prathapml's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
lol sp00f its up to everyone to look closely at an example and fix as needed for their install -
FireGeier where you create that and call it right before wpeinit in startnet.cmd but fails cause I went ahead and added an extra line Set > A:\Set.txt where I place my xml on a: right now and the variable DriversRoot is showing up in the .txt but when wpeinit starts it sets its own variables so definitely not working here. I do the Set again after it crashes

How can you remove "desktop.ini" from the desktop?
maxXPsoft replied to LeveL's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
SLEEP 5 surely you copy sleep.exe to system32 with Oems? Otherwise it may need a full path if located with cmd but you did say it was delaying things still to figure out with this vista for sure -
Vista Questions I could not find the answer too
maxXPsoft replied to kirrana's topic in Unattended Windows Vista/Server 2008
Not quite trueAs I am still testing as everyone else I place my Autounattend.xml on a floppy so can change on the fly Each pass it reads from the floppy and I can see this happening and if you look at setupact.log in Panther at the end of Install you'll see this. Regardless of whether I put it at root of DVD or floppy We already know MS help files aren't exactly 100%. -
