  1. Oh well, "hanging out" here for hardware is what it says. All's fine now, np.
  2. Invision is the best. I just wish though, that they did not have to make it completely paid. Now everybody (who can't afford to buy) will move away from it!
  3. Seems like a nice idea, with the only downer being that the fact it is based on .NET. Such apps tend to be slower, normally.
  4. There are many practical reasons why you'd want to do it. But if you satisfied with your batch-files as they are, then there's no reason for you to think about converting to EXE. One downside of .CMD to .EXE, is that you can't edit the script at will, any more (since EXE is binary now).
  5. Most of the articles here, and methods discussed, will apply just as well to Windows 2000 as on WinXP. In fact, there's a section in the forum, dedicated to win2000 (and 2003). Win2k specials to be found there!
  6. *roaring with laughter* First time I ever hear of a USB device that mewed!
  7. VMware/VirtualPC !!!!!!
  8. @eric Your pleasant post deserved a good helpful reply. Seen and answered - here.
  9. @eric Your question is not clear. You don't have WXP Tablet PC Edition, but want to use the Energy Blue theme on XP home/pro, right? click here for instructions As for the inconsistency, the answer is that it is not so. All themes should go into windows/resources/themes. Anyone who says otherwise, is probably mistaken.
  10. I think you actually mean "registry cleaning". RegClean 4.1a still does a good job - even on XP/2k3. Its a total freeware tool by MS (unsupported) - download.
  11. And install Aston Desktop shell on each of those desktops - allows you to have controlled/restricted environments, and also radically better functionality (and looks).
  12. Did you forget about the screenies? Oh, and I received the disks as well. Haven't yet got round to using it.
  13. I've signed up with it, and find that nothing intertesting ever happens with orkut.
  14. What is it all about, anyway? Then you need to cliock an "Enter" button.... Doesn't look much of a pro site!
  15. Being a "Couch potato".... Now why does that seem not such a nice thing to be, anymore.
  16. Yeah! Weird, and dare I say, looks like horror!
  17. Yes, but v5.06 here. And until something else comes out of the winamp stables, that's what will rule my media playing.
  18. Is the source address of the JPEG actually some third-party server address? Its possible that adware and pop-up server-domains has been re-directed to 127.0.0.1 using the HOSTS file. Try seeing what the contents of that (text) file are: c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts And make a call on your browser's restricted sites/domains list. BTW, I think you meant the topic title should be "images not showing" (because "icons not showing" sounds like not what you're asking).
  19. My hotmail still says 2 MB.
  20. Well, I can't really confirm it for you. You need to ask the author of the pack, or check it yourself. You'll get many suggestions here, and then following up on that is your part of the job! Lastly, tone down the all-caps. Its equivalent to shouting, and none of us here are deaf (in fact, all-caps is irritating and will put off people).
  21. Well, if you mean by "family" - the entire group of people who are related in some way to you (even those who are distantly related, such as father of aunt of a cousin) - then yes, every family has divorced couples somewhere or the other.
  22. I don't know if someone already has tried what you mention. But instead of waiting for days to get an answer, What you *CAN* do, is to see what happens when you "hide" those items. I mean, see what keys in the registry get modified when you do that hiding thing. Are you willing to play along? If so, here's what you need to do: 1. Get the file attached to this post (Registry Snap-Shot maker). 2. Take a 1st shot just before you do the hiding thing. 3. Immediately after you've hidden those, run back and take a 2nd shot of registry. 4. Compare, so that you will know which regkeys have changed (therefore you know what to do to auto-hide them during install). Hoping this helps.... If you have any more clarifications needed, just ask! regshot1_7_2.zip
  23. Outlook is a POP/IMAP mail-client. Hotmail doesn't offer access to mails thru those protocols, for free accounts anymore. So you need to pay-up, or be satisfied with web-mail.
  24. @jimuk Yes, those are all good points. We can only hope that people will voluntarily follow those codes of conduct. *topic moved
  25. *moving topic out of "general discussions" coz its not!
