  1. (not doubting you but..) does it matter? I will check, but I figured if the boot image is there the boot image will be available. Thanks again for the reply.
  2. didnt work...i went into the DHCP server and added the two options. the x64 OS's show up in ris..like 2003 and xp x64, but the vista boot images aren't showing up in the initial boot menu.
  3. I have an x64 Server 2003 DC, DHCP, and WDS box. I have an x64 laptop, I added the x64 winpe image for vista business to the wds server but it doesn't show up on the boot image list when i PXE, the x86 version of business does however. How do I get the option to deploy the x64 version?
  4. ah great...i figured that's what i'd have to do, thanks for the answer tho. I really appreciate it.
  5. Just finished installing Windows Server 2003 SP2 x64, When i installed WDS it automatically installed it in native mode. Is there a command I can use? or what's the process to conver it to mixed mode. I still use Windows XP as my primary os and need an easier way of installing it rather than disc images...Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
  6. It's good someone is working with this. I downloaded the x64 SP2 evaluation the other day...its actualy x64 SP2, R2...the initial windows server 2003 has SP2 integrated. after the install you have to install R2 yet...so it shouldn't matter whether or not R2 is installed before or after SP2...just a heads up.
  7. im getting a 404 on both of those links(2nd or third post...) is this the final release? Im new to 64 bit, if I'm running windows xp pro 64 i assume i should download x64 version of sp2
  8. if the switch is manageable(either thru web browser or console port) then there may be a way in there, otherwise the only other way i see possible is to put a 10 mb bridge or hub between the two.
  9. i got the office pro since i needed something newer than office 2000 and i get vista business thru MSDNAA at my school so im set:D
  10. run is not in the main part of vista's start menu, it's in accessories under programs.
  11. unless your router supports multiple IP lan addresses you need two routers.
  12. this is a home test environment mainly, so that's a user i use most often on my desktop box. Thanks for the input.
  13. just wondering, if in active directory, do YOU assign a profile path to the domain administrator user(not all of the group members but THE administrator user) I usually don't and I don't know if it's a best practice or not, I do have a login script, but no home directory or profile path.
  14. in disk management you can right click each disk and upgrade from basic to dynamic, but you can't downgrade to basic from dynamic, it's fairly straight forward, make sure to backup your data if you're able to before you make changes to be safe.
  15. whats a t4010? i couldn't tell you, i might be able to if you could list your specs.
  16. im taking a guess..but maybe... "AltDefaultDomainName" = "domain" "AltDefaultPassword" = "password" "AltDefaultUserName" = "risadm" "AutoAdminLogon" = "1" does altdefaultdomainname need to be say...domain.com? rather than just domain? or the user name domain\risadm?
  17. So i have a volume license multiboot cd with Server 2003 Standard and Server 2003 Enterprise, when I point the add image wizard to either of the folders on the CD, it adds the image, but when i start the install windows thinks its an upgrade and asks for a 2000 server or nt 4 server cd, yet the disc is the full install, if i install from the disc it installs with no problems. Does anyone know why it does this or what I do to fix this?
  18. wtf when did u get urs? its not available to me yet. mine was just updated with some of the office programs(access, sharepoint, onenote, project pro)
  19. each local user from each computer accessing the share should have the same user name and password on the server.
  20. is it an active directory environment? if so, then push a gpo that makes certain user profiles volatile
  21. only the front 2 are ever being used. thanks though
  22. did not fix issue, i also copied an infcache.1 from a computer that already had the drivers installed and copied it to one that didnt have them installed yet, no difference.
