  1. ok.. i just responsed to your earlier post (pc sluggish) I have to go with Unimatrix-Zero's advice... (replace/upgrade ram)
  2. na xp can run fine on a 128.. one of my bros and dad have 128 machines... pIII 933mhz and it runs pretty sweet.... but you just can't overload it with a lot of programs running in the same time.. Anyhow going back to the problem.. [i:cb4e8461e7]was it always slow? or did it become slow as you upgraded to xp?[/i:cb4e8461e7]
  3. 01. Right Click My Computer, select Properties 02. Advanced::::> Performance(Settings) 03. Scroll to the bottom in the visual effects tab 04. check/uncheck "Use Drop Shadows for icons labels on desktop" .... is that what you are talking about?
  4. Sadly to say I'm actually gonna miss ya! ....and I wanted to beat your post count muahahahhaha! Have a good one Chris!
  5. Plus comes with some Toothpaste and Coughdrop themes, as well as a community pack(which includes some themes made by the community) The regular version comes with no extra themes.

  7. Actually an easier solutions. [b:ca62553923]Download StyleXP 4.3[/b:ca62553923]
  8. I have winxp installed on a PII 400mhz, 128ram 12gb comp. Disable all the visual stuff(switch to classic view) and it runs very very smooth. What business are you in? Microsoft is in making a lot of money, so is everyone else, and as such, I don't blame them for realesing anything. Anyhow that is a totally different topic (is money everything?) Besides everything is cheaper now, and everyone in USA/Canada should be very grateful that they can get quality hardware for good prices. My folks live overseas, and everything here is mad expensive, but we do get one thing that is pretty cheap (software). That's why when I'm in the states and buying stuff for my comp, it just seems so much cheaper.... going back to the main question: A company has to release new things/add services/etc.. in order to stay in the business of making money!
  9. Well, here is how I have winamp: Make WinXP startup with winamp agent Make Winamp:::>Preferences:::>Options:::>Display (none) Have the Winamp buttons on taskbar. Since I don't restart my comp that often and I usually have playlists for my music moods... Whenver I start up my comp, click on the playlist, then just control it from taskbar. You could pretty much do the same with either having. 01. (winamp agent running and then from there right click::> and control it) 02. have winamp itself main window run, but it takes a spot on the taskbar, and I like having it empty... But ya whatever floats your boat .. works ;-) Some poeple even have those new keyboards where they multimedia buttons to just do that sort of thing (play/stop/etc..) Or you can get one of those softwars that makes shortcut keys to your applications... (I'm not a keyboard person.. I like the mouse more) [b:c886420a08] prophecy theme [/b:c886420a08] yup that's the latest Beta.. the author is still working on improving it for the green/red colors. the grey one is complete.. and he is still working on making the blue one complete...
  10. StyleXP Theme: Prophecy 1.45 (Blue) Here is the link: http://members.home.net/mattdagar/Prophecy...cy_ver_1-45.rar
  11. !!!!Chris lives HERE!!!! Anyhow Hermit, it's all about preference... personally, having winamp on top of other apps, doesn't feel smooth I like stuff to look smooth "integrated" .. it really is about everyone's taste ;-) Here is another shot...(altough I need to find me some better icons, but the rest looks pwetty, I wish I could add another toolbar in there, but my bro would kill me) [b:943c625a37]http://www.geocities.com/bantoniou.rm/prof.JPG[/b:943c625a37] Ya well, the ms toy always had bugs.. for me so far nothing major, other than it erases the playlist sometimes... Anyhow I'll probably switch to the winamp ones so no biggie!
  12. I was about to ask you to do that FthrJack, I might be wrong, but I recall reading in some forum/site (somewhere) that the updates are logged within a file on your system, and they use that file to determine your updates.... I must admit, what happened in your scenario is very odd.. Keep us posted.. thanks
  13. Then grab the windows media player bonus pack at: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...d/bonuspack.asp As LS_Dragons mentioned grab StyleXP (it skins your winxp) Download StyleXP: http://www.tgtsoft.com/download.html Download Themes/Wallpapers/etc.. http://www.themexp.org As hermit said, grab the powertoys, they pretty cool! All the aforementioned software are FREE!!! I have plus on my system, the themes/screensavers are pretty sad. The nice feature was audio converter but it is included in the windows media player bonus pack... the games with plus are addictive, but silly :-( Thus: don't even think of buying it!!!!
  14. just download beta 4.2, (all the new stylexp versions have a time trial in them, but according to the tgtsoft, they will be always releasing a new version by that time.) Also when it comes time to RTM, (final version, whatever...) there will be a small file just to be able to use the themes for free... so no worries... for now just grab the latest beta off thier site... mine expire yesterday.. ( i unistalled, remove registry entry and then install the 4.2 one) If you really want I can get u the hacked(older) .dll, but try my aforementioned suggestion.. and tell me how it goes... *EDIT* If you choose to use the below information it is at your own risk! I can't be held respobsible if it screws it up.... Try this link Download the hacked DLL http://files.netjunk.org/THEME.PROGRAMS/ Installations Instructions 1. Backup the original DLL 2. Reboot to safe mode and replace the good one with the hacked one
  15. I have my taskbar at college on autohide and haven't had any problems. Odd that your autohide doesn't work properly. For my autohide, all I need to do is move the cursor to the taskbar and it appears... I've already switched to only using the new ms auido toy, but I hope it is better than before. (it was released a while back but had quite a few bugs) So far so good.......
  16. Here is the wallpaper: http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?id=2468 Click on StyleXP: you get 2 options enable stylexp run at startup Check the first one and you're all set! If you want have both on, and then make stylexp autohide always in taskbar. [to do so, right click on the systray area:::> properties:::> customize:::> select stylexp (always hide) To install the themes, make sure they are in the directory of Example: windows/resources/themes/Prophecy(folder) Having windows/resources/themes/prophecy.theme Then to select the theme right click on desktop, properties, themes(tab) and select prophecy etc... [b:6cbf9a4ee2]Note:[/b:6cbf9a4ee2] Some themes don't come with .theme files, I have no respect for the authors that are too lazy to do that!!!! Also, some themes come in more than 1 color, to check goto display/properties/appearance/and check one of the scroll down menus for additional variations to their themes... Example: Prophecy has 2 colors, coughdrop has a few, toothpaste has a few etc...
  17. Sorry about that: http://www.geocities.com/bantoniou.rm/luna.zip I understand how you feel Hermit, I hate not being able to attach. Here goes: Audio player, is what I've been telling you all along about the MS powertoys. When you Add it make sure to do the following, so it looks like mine. 01. Right click taskbar::>toolbars::> audioplayer 02. then make sure to have "unlock taskbar" 03. uncheck show title/text 04. Click no the icon that has and upward icon (it opens a play list) 05. Select Options, click on (add volume button) 06. Check my screenshot (sorry I just changed my theme.. hope that doesn't confuse you) http://www.geocities.com/bantoniou.rm/audio.JPG 07. Zaxxon is just a stupid title if you want to change it goto (upward.. eject looking button...click options..change title) You can group them like this? Leave Taskbar Unlock Select the folder with your (games) check my screenshot: I just added my personal folder that I have on my brother's comp. http://www.geocities.com/bantoniou.rm/launch.JPG Another way which is probably a very cool way, check it out http://www.truelaunchbar.com/screens.html check thier skins: http://www.truelaunchbar.com/skinslib/index.php but it costs $$ :-( I'm still consued... maybe a screenshot ? might give me an idea or so...
  18. Disable Powertoy components: Goto Control Panel::>add remove programs:::> select MS Powertoys::> click change:::> select modify and then pick! I don't know what you are asking me for quick launch? Add programs to quicklaunch: Drag and drop the program shortcut Add new toolbar but not on taskbar: Check the screenshot and tell me if this is what you are talking about? http://www.geocities.com/bantoniou.rm/toolbar.JPG "matching" winamp controls is just having the icons match the theme installed. The default winamp controls come with the luna looking ones http://www.geocities.com/bantoniou.rm/luna.rar The MS audioplayer plays anything, it even has a playlist and a volume icon for quick access. (the icons in the top toolbar of my brother's desktop screenshot are the newly installed audio player from the ms powertoys) To add new stuff, first of all: unlock taskbar (right click on it and uncheck locktaskbar) then goto toolbars :::>new::> add the folder you have your shortcuts etc.. Someone here mentioned to group all your software shortcuts in one folder and then add a new toolbar to it on the taskbar for quick access to all your files. I hope I answered your questions.....
  19. you guys noticed it also has the BG switcher? I right clicked on my desktop:::> properties::> saw a tab called Slide show, where you can set the interval of switching backgrounds. So if I'm not mistaken, there are 3 new toys thus far, this is crazy!!!
  20. [b:6b525e960d]Hermit:[/b:6b525e960d] [b:6b525e960d]Winamp controls:[/b:6b525e960d] Here are the ones that match with Blue prophecy: http://www.geocities.com/bantoniou.rm/prophecy.zip [b:6b525e960d]To Install Winamp controls:[/b:6b525e960d] 01. Right-click on the toolbar and remove the checkmark from Show Text/Title [b:6b525e960d]To install MS powertoys audioplayer:[/b:6b525e960d] 01. First if you had an older version uninstall. 02. Install new powertoys from ms website. 03. Click on taskbar select audio player. 04. if you want to get the prophecy looking icons, then download http://www.geocities.com/bantoniou.rm/prophecybluexp.zip and follow these instructions: Open command prompt: cd c:windowssystem32 Type: move shplayer.dll shplayer.bak Then i simply move the new dll in. You need to log off then log on for the new changes. [i:6b525e960d]Credit: Dazzla created those icons according to Xcert's prophecy theme.[/i:6b525e960d] If you had asked me which control to choose 2 days ago I would've said winamp as they aren't as buggy as the audioplayer ones...now I'm using the new ones by MS. They "seem" less buggy for now... need more testnig...
  21. Man I posted them I think oh well here they are: [b:411c74b9be]The following are my top ones:[/b:411c74b9be] Both are blue themes: Blackcomb Pro 1.1 http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?id=1073 Prophecy 1.4 [i:411c74b9be]new version coming out soon![/i:411c74b9be] http://members.home.net/mattdagar/Prophecy...ecy_ver_1-4.rar [b:411c74b9be]The following in random order:[/b:411c74b9be] Watercolor v3 http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?id=611 Classic v2 [i:411c74b9be]new version coming out soon![/i:411c74b9be] http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?id=832 BlueSteel XP 0.99b http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?id=1240 ChaNinja Beta2 http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?id=982 The list just keeps growing, but I've found I lean more towards the clean looking themes with creativity and as few bugs as possible! I also like the themes that I can sort of get matching winamp controls, winamp skin and wallpaper I don't use login screen as I don't have one, and boot screen(don't restart my computer that often) Give it time, I'm sure poeple will come up with even more amazing themes, XP just came out a few months ago, so did StyleXP ;-) [b:411c74b9be]hermit:[/b:411c74b9be] So how does your desktop look like?
  22. I was never a big fan of WB. The problem was that I fooled around with 2.0 and it was so slow I just never went back to it again. But now with the latest version it is pretty amazing. Ls_Dragons: I liked plastictube but hated that orange color, I really liked the blue version i saw on neowin.net , never got a chance to get me a copy of that. FYI, Binary one of the top theme authors is working on a macos skin, I'll tell you about it when he finishes... it looks pretty similar to all the other ones out there.. but I bet it will be less buggy. Hermit: How does it crash your system? I found a bug in the program, but I'm having some difficulty figuring out why that happens... (to validate my point, I need to know how to be able to replicate it) The bugs only occured on my brothers' computers and they have the latest beta installed...it happens randomly! Jsut for the heck of it ..check it out... (he uses the watercolor theme) here are some shots: http://www.geocities.com/bantoniou.rm/bug1.JPG http://www.geocities.com/bantoniou.rm/bug2.JPG
  23. I couldn't have said it any better than Collin.
