There should be downloadable free SP1 preintegrated edition which you can use with your key, I guess. If not then I'll add a method how to do it from another Windows. http://www.msfn.org/board/Installing-Vista...ck-t106461.html
-
acex, be sure to use clean XP, not some previously nLited or configured.
-
it's because there is no languages in the test versions.
-
I presume you tried slipstreaming SP3? That's normal. If you want you can search for solution, I don't know if it's legal for me to tell how.
-
I appreciate the compliment. Hold on, first read this, I'll PM you the new test version. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&...st&p=718064

XP installation hangs with 9 min left: "Saving settings"
nuhi replied to kingharrie's topic in nLite
Ok got the hang with just the Wmp10 addon. And I think it's fixed. PM me if you want to help me confirm it then I release it tomorrow. Thx. -
Search in regedit for sfcdisable key, then delete it i guess, or google how to use it, it's widely known. 1. I think it doesn't matter, I had it once on 2k in virtual machine, only when removing NetDDE, no one else confirmed so I returned that component. 2. I'm only 2 hours on this matter, last night and today. 3. Read 2 4. Yes, always was: http://www.nliteos.com/download.html down under Previous (non-beta) versions

XP installation hangs with 9 min left: "Saving settings"
nuhi replied to kingharrie's topic in nLite
heffalump, ok, MarkCoolio confirmed the same so I'll try that method to provoke the hang. It's not addon's fault, it's just something it calls is broken then it gets manifested. -
So you are saying once it is turned off, it's off and you can't easily restore it? Sounds as that isn't/shouldn't be a option.Questions; 1. Is this AMD specific or is it with both AMD and Wintel based MBs'?? 2. Has it been narrowed down any? 3. If I do a straight nLite procedure, NOT using ANY customizing option, other than slipstreaming a SP and burning the CD, does it still do it with a problem system?? Huh??? I have no idea what any of that is suppose to mean. Sorry, I never saw that. Might as well merge these two threads together. Disable SFC is actually a good thing for people who customize their Windows. You can enable it by editing reg entry but then it would complain too much, more frequent popups than what you get if kept enabled. Trying now to provoke hang and checking differences with 1.3.5. This is one of those weird bugs, but that's the only kind left.
-
dcyphure, you must use full Vista if you want to apply SP1, there is nothing weird about it. Once there is image with SP1 preintegrated released you can use component removal. Hotfix download and install should work just fine on Windows Update, check if all your services are working, don't disable them manually, especially WU, Bits and Management Instrumentation.
-
Arvind, please check if it's winscard.dll or exactly Wscard.dll. It is Smart Cards but you don't have to keep them, just add that file in the Protection box on the bottom of components page next time while remaking the ISO. For now you can simply copy the file from the full image. Is that 64bit Vista you're running it on?
-
huh that's weird. Maaybe some antivirus is doing it, just a wild guess.

XP installation hangs with 9 min left: "Saving settings"
nuhi replied to kingharrie's topic in nLite
Ok, thx. -
If you are in a hurry that would be one solution, but generally it shouldn't be a must. Can't be turned on, actually you would need to replace another file, it's all non-user friendly, I would rather fix it. Check this topic: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&...st&p=717883 Let me know if you try anything.

XP installation hangs with 9 min left: "Saving settings"
nuhi replied to kingharrie's topic in nLite
A long shot but if someone retries it please add sysparse.exe into the components - advanced - keep box, just a guess by looking at the differences. (check later if that file is in the i386 folder) And also try by removing any WMP installations during install, just to find the cause. Not the component, but the integrated WMP addons and such. Try not to remove NetDDE if you do. Netlogon as well, and Messenger. Then without "Change Windows Explorer folder view" tweak if you use it. Also you might wanna try nhelper.ex_ from 1.3.5, overwrite the one in 1.4 before using 1.4. I'm not sure if that will cause any other issues but it's worth trying. Last, try overwriting sfcfiles.dl_ file from 1.3.5 configured with the same preset. I hope someone will try all this, I would if I had that hang issue, thx. -
Reported so far on XP and 2k, so you could say all. I can't wait to find out why this happens, weird that it doesn't happen to all users, myself included.

heffalump, your presets are hardly the same. Try the 1.3.5 on 1.4, it has wmp10 addon moved below hotfixes, that could do some good. But there are more differences so simply load 1.3.5 preset in 1.4. -
I tried it and unfortunately it didn't hang. Which brings to conclusion that maybe this works in combination with hardware drivers being installed. I'm trying all kinds of presets reporting this issue and still haven't came to any conclusion, seems very weird. Gonna compare with old nLite. WFP/SFC is what runs at saving settings, read for more into in nlite-options-pathes page, you can disable it, no harm done and it won't hang. But still it has to be fixed.
-
Attach the preset so that I can try it. This issue is known, cause is any error during installation while keeping SFC enabled. You can disable it in the Options - Patches, but also finding the error during installation is a better choice.

XP installation hangs with 9 min left: "Saving settings"
nuhi replied to kingharrie's topic in nLite
For example one candidate could be if you remove WMP and install newer on install. To debug this try keeping all WMP version in the Windows if you think on upgrading it. Then another was if DTC is removed and COM+ kept. -
SlimShady, you can run unattended from the command line as well, I think it goes like: cd i386 winnt32 /unattend:winnt.sif platipus, yeah that's why I delay that particular removal but it doesn't always do the trick. Still haven't figured out what when kept triggers it, because if you remove almost all like in my config it works like a charm.
-
ANON837, do a vLite config then edit autounattend.xml file and add what you want. For documentation search on microsoft.com, it will be just a few lines to add formatting. I don't add it because it's too dangerous and I know I would use it and messup my partitions while testing.
-
If you add it before vLite into some of your new folders in the root, vLite won't delete it. If it grew by 1.2GB then for sure you didn't just add 20MB. If that Ati driver has multiple INF files in the folder try to figure out which one is that you don't need and delete it. I'm considering options to change the integration routine to reduce these popups.
-
Jeronimo, no, since you're the only one with such issue I presume it's then some special version or special preintegrated screnario. I'll send you a PM for a test.
-
Fernando1 just reminded me of something that is special with textmode integrations which could break signatures even on 1.4 so if someone is having this issue and wants to test the fix PM me for the link. This applies only if you are using latest nLite, integrating SATA or RAID drivers and still getting SFC popups.
