I don't use that but this sounds nice, lower ping times: http://www.msfn.org/board/tcp-ip-and-foreg...ity-t51197.html TcpIp patch, which I also kept at 50, worked fine.

As far as I know that option doesn't cause instability. I've been using it without issues. What can be responsible for your issues is: any kind of overclocking or voltage set other than auto: cpu, ram, gpu. Beta gpu drivers, as you stated non-whql, that is worth checking out. Use latest stable drivers from the manufacturer's site. Also do not disable PageFile if you have by any chance.

shilyro, please tell me which lang pack did you integrate and attach your preset. Then I'll tell you what's wrong or fix it on my part. "the installation files couldnt be found" was during "completing instalation" I presume?
-
Very weird. I'll await one more preset to try from streamer_ or someone else. This could be like that hang issue which was also difficult to provoke.
-
Asmer, and CAT files, still removing them? It is kinda tricky maybe that function doesn't work good on SP3 since it's a new CAT file, gotta check that.
-
hm, streamer please attach your preset if it's english sp3 and tell me which tweak to test for. At least one or two.
-
streamer_ ? I downloaded sp3 latest from ms 2-3 days ago, who said that I didn't try it on 3264.
-
Now this thread will attract everyone with any kind of issue. SP3 is not that different people. BUT addons might not work until the addon authors adapt, if it's needed. Asmer, try without wmp11 and dont' remove CAT files. streamer_, try without integrating anything else except sp3 if you do, just to see if that is it.

vLite doesn't change the boot drivers. It was then only the burn speed or vLite ISO engine.
-
Have you tried sorting hotfixes by build date? I see that KB944653 is first then oldest below it and so on just because of it's file name. First sort them by build date, then move ie7 below them and ie7 hotfixes below the ie7 itself, like you did. But that first hotfix is too new to be first. If that doesn't help then try integrate half then other half and see where it fails. When you find it I'll be willing to investigate and fix if necessary. Also you could start by excluding IE6 hotfixes if any, or IE7 and it's hotfixes.

Let me know if you figure it out so that I know the scenario in the future, thx.

Tried your preset with sp3 3264 and it was all fine. Also no one else reported this, 3234 is not that different than 3264, since 3234 worked for you I have nothing more to add. Delete your nLite folder, xp setup files, reinstall nLite, recopy clean files, integrate sp3, exit nlite, copy xpsp3integrated as a backup, then modify with your preset.
-
That sounds impossible, try for a moment to not think it's a bug and tell us how you did it exactly and attach the preset. Did you integrate SP3 after removals or what? I don't understand that link and if you are implying on the cdkey it's normal, not my doing.
-
Where do you get that, virtual or real machine? Did you test the original for sure in the same circuimstances? Because what you say sounds like VMWare issue from the old versions and vLite can't influence Boot drivers, yet.

Interesting, so the conclusion is that prefetch is disabled if UAC is turned off but the driver is enabled? Is it reenabled when the driver is disabled? That kinda doesn't go in favor of his 450MB difference because prefetch when enabled should use more memory and boot SLOWER? (because it preloads more) 1. only in newer 1.1 RC when it comes out 2. Turn off UAC tweak has the same effect as the cpanel - users setting does, meaning it doesn't touch the luafv start setting My guess, as flawed as it may be I'll just say it again, is that luafv disabling kills prefetch and that makes Vista spend less memory and boot faster, no preloading. Aand how to test for this? What about Superfetch, does it rely on Prefetch...wiiiii so many questions. Lets remove it all and not worry
-
What? The point is even if you disable all services and turn off UAC (not disable the driver) the memory will be filled and released after some time. But if UAC is disabled in the driver the memory won't be filled in the first place. Which brings me to the conclusion that it may be that prefetch fails and doesn't load cache or how do you explain 450MB in RAM not being loaded? Remember in XP if you remove Task Manager prefetch fails. Maybe you missed the other topic: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=109402 Disclaimer: I haven't confirmed this memory difference nor tried.

What do you mean where installed? You need installation DVD, not installed Windows. Or if you have just installed windows then research how to capture it into the image.

It should have been out on last Monday but I'm having some serious website issues so I'm waiting for that to resolve and then update. Don't know when, it's not up to me.

Good. Weird key name FEATURE_PROTECT_DECOMPRESSION_FILTER_FROM_ABORT_KB942367, kinda specific
-
That Adobe setup has a lot of issues reported all over so lets not dismiss that this may not be a dependency. First don't disable any extra services than those that can be removed with vLite. Then try this to clean the install and try again: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html Also http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bc3e02c

eddie11013, do you maybe use True Transparency application? Try without the addons and see where it goes.

rebelo, 4GB is plenty for games these days. 8GB could only make Vista go even smoother if you do a lot of HDD activity, it will keep more in memory. Even though I didn't notice any difference when going from 2GB to 4GB, only in games. Biggest usage I saw was while playing Supreme Commander strategy, it took 1.7GB as a single process. But that game isn't the best example of programming, it has many issues with slowdowns and crashing. Probably memory leaks are what made it so big in the first place. I understand the urge to upgrade while DDR2 is so cheap but I would simply wait for a new gen and upgrade to DDR3 when it is more mature and reasonably priced. Or SSD hdd yumm.

I tried your preset and IE works but I didn't try the addons so it must be one of them. Check if there is any error in the C:\Windows\setuperr.log Paste it here. Only two SFC warnings are normal for your config, sfcfiles.dll and tscupgrd.exe. Anything else is error worth mentioning. Also if you manage to try without addons to confirm that would be good. (in virtual pc for example)

I'll repeat: vLite doesn't change Vista setup boot (winpe). Only thing then left is unattended settings, delete autounattend.xml from the root of the folder and retry ISO.
-
vLite doesn't change boot environment. ONLY thing that can possibly do that is Memory Usage tweak, don't change it to 256MB, leave at default. If you have then next thing to check is the Unattended settings. The auto-image selection. First start by deleting autounattend.xml file and remake ISO. And the fact that it works in virtual means that it's the driver-device thing. Maybe you should retry that full Vista, I somehow doubt that it will be any different, unless it's the unattended setting thing.
