Just integrate hotfixes or total configuration? Anyway it's too long, be sure not to keep antivirus checking all files, set it to scan on execute only, or disable if you are not sure how to set and see how it goes. If you don't have an antivirus active then avoid any tasks in the background. Also there are two .NET hotfixes (NetFX2.0-KB110806 and NetFX3.0-KB929300) which take very long, if you use them. And last it's how MS made the integration, and this mounted image editing is slowing it down even more. Btw SP1 installation is 1hour on a live machine so yeah...at least we don't have to suffer the bloated os after the install.

Yeah it is kinda weird, explained here why is select to remove: http://www.vlite.net/help/components.html
-
Have you set the Unattended - Regional - GUI to your new integrated language? I will check if this is a bug that it is a must, this selection shouldn't be a must.
-
If you keep HTML Engine it will show IE hotfixes because they all mainly update HTML engine, IE won't be returned. So that part is fine. Btw attach your preset and tell me at least one hotfix which makes it loop and I'll gladly try. No safe list for winsxs, it all depends on the hotfix, it seeks what it updates.

Heinosity, another x64 user who had that issue says that raising memory voltage helps. Try with +0.1 and +0.2V than default, not higher. Tomorrow, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777 I have 4GB and never had that issue, it's not that common issue.

Looks ok. Just not sure about the SRSS since I never used it, only possibility would be Performance Counters if it actually takes some statistics from the running machine. If it's you who is entering data then it's not related.
-
Even though you won't like it the only solution so far that I heard was reinstalling the OS on which you run vLite, then it's all fine. This wasn't done by vLite if you thought that, it's probably disabled needed service or something. Since I never had that issue can't debug it on my own.

Mine works, maybe you disabled it in the Start Panel options, there are a lot of Search options, enable them all. If they were enabled then attach your preset.

Don't remove anything with vLite in Server 2008, removals are not supported for now, maybe won't ever be, just configurations and integrations. People who use Windows Server shouldn't remove components anyway and it has some sort of component configuration anyway. Because it is not individual feature per component is the reason why I left it for now in the first place, meaning for example if you remove one of five components from the certain feature the whole feature adding fails and that would require totally new component selection for Server, too much fuss for a handful of people who think that Server is somehow better than Vista SP1.

shilyro, interesting. Also once when I was testing Arabic language setup failed unless I selected Arabic as the GUI language, very weird and gotta research if that was some coincidence.
-
It shouldn't matter. Also try to integrate motherboard chipset drivers, storage controller...maybe it helps. And I have reread your first two posts, forgot that you had the same issue on the full one, disable the drive, play with the bios, it's definitely the machine (or the drivers) since the virtual works.
-
Test it by temporary moving Aero from it's position C:\Windows\Resources\Themes to somewhere else where Windows won't look.
-
vLite doesn't break WU no matter what you remove (except Winsxs but it's in the new ver), check if services like Windows Management, Background Intelligent Transfer are running. In another words first test WU before tampering anything after reinstall. Btw one restart is expected after it's updated on first run. It will integrate whatever you give it but it will remove that component so floating hotfixes will just have some leftovers in the Winsxs folder.
-
- you can remove all and that stuff will work. Try Recommended compatibility, maybe also keep WMP codecs, Color Management... Best is to run it in trial mode for a few days then reinstall if you need anything else, if you have another partition for that it would be even easier. Also use DVDRW or USB stick to reinstall, or if it's another partition then keep Manual Install and run setup.exe from another Windows. - yeah that Picasa <-> Earth thing depends on some component, haven't found which, gotta do it the old way, time consuming so I delay it - that rename thing was MS bug unless you're using very old vLite, they fixed it, just integrate all hotfixes (which you need, for example don't integrate Mail updates if you will remove Mail)
-
Gotta make compatibility option for WLAN, it's time since this version added many network stuff.
-
Besides that Upgrade Only part you could try it in Virtual PC and see if it just fails on the real PC. If it's in virtual as well then it should be the same when I try your preset, and if it's not then it's that specific Vista version. You could then find what breaks it and I'll try to adapt it. Also try without Unattended (just delete Autounattend.xml and remake the ISO) just in case it's something trivial.
-
I told you up what I keep. And others say it works, you have his preset also up.
-
Hm never seen that. Glad to hear that it's just a counter. Try to redo it from the clean files again, maybe corrupted but I doubt it.
-
LeveL, hotfixes use winsxs files on "random", meaning they use parts which they update. Gonna see about removing old versions of course. shilyro, why is that screenshot on English, it should be Japanese, did you select Japanese in Unattended-Regional-GUI? cbosdell, PowerShell? Then you're using some tampered installation, that's not part of Vista as far as I know. UAC tweak broken, confirmed.
-
Ok. I hear you. Is it then Dell Vista and/or what did you integrate in it? (attach the preset, last session.ini)
-
mikemon, just uninstall Nod32 or any other antivirus. Or try vLite on a fresh install, it's not the RAID.
-
If full Vista locks for you why not post on Vista forum? Btw if you post there don't remove components when testing what people tell you. About locking around Completing installation this is what I know: www.vlite.net news post "Setup locks at Completing Installation" Also if you get in vLite 1.1RC popup on Apply to remove $OEM$ settings try that.
-
CD of what? Is it restore CD, Vista, XP, can you boot it as it is...
-
Uninstall the antivirus, turning off doesn't help which is weird. Even more weird is that Nod32 and Comodo doesn't cause vLite bsod on my machine. But I did have a BSOD on Vista RTM and never saw bsod on SP1 so maaybe they patched it. Or Comodo Defense+ is what causes it and I disable that. Anyway lets report to the Comodo forums, they can help on their part since MS doesn't care. More info here: http://www.vlite.net/ news post "Reboot on browse" Comodo post: http://forums.comodo.com/bug_reports/bsod_...m-t17827.0.html

I tried now v2.7 and I do remove a lot and it works. Do you disable some more services which are not yet available in vLite?
