  1. file version, date created, date modified, can be decieving. even on microsoft www for slipstreaming they recommend appling hotfixs in order they came out, and NOT by KB number, file version, date created, date modified. wonder if nlite has built in database of hotfixs vs filename?
  2. for a in b do ( either -1 or + 1 or >< something in the last loop is causing it to hang. you could be trying to run past the array. perhaps not starting at 0 in array. instead the for loop is starting at one in arrary and when it attempts to read last part of array its not there because you didn't start at 0. it could be last %dir% that you have set ealier is feeding a directory name that is to long in amount of characters or directory name is long name format and not 8.3 format.

  4. been awhile i do believe the pro version or site version of "bullet proof FTP" has a set of commands / scripting language for websites / ftp programs etc.... windows has built in sync "keep local and website as single copy" * scratchs chin, *only used windows built in maybe once*
  5. ARP command http://www.windowsitlibrary.com/Content/386/08/2.html
  6. lol... ughs. thx for tip for aviators, i looked at the page about 4 to 5 different times. each time i just read right over it. feeling more like a nobbier here for forum use. heh. the google search across top of page, and then when going through my-assistant for search, is what through me off on the "search" top right hand corner. figure with site dealing with scripting. that the top right hand corner also did searchs by google as well. call it a brain fart or what not. thx for the help.
  7. damen tools.... awe love it. don't remeber www site right off hand. or nero image drive as well
  8. use to other forums, were i can hover mouse over a given thread to see first 5 lines or so of what is in the first post of any given thread. ---more of a persnoal wim. ---better explationation, when you move mouse over text editor to find out what the buttons are. but you move mouse over a given thread to see first 5 lines or so of first post in any given thread. searching abilty, i realize updated forum just within past week. but search abitiles are lacking and currently hard to siff through given searchs using currently searching abilites... following would be helpfull... find posts started by given user find all threads by given user find threads by ((1,2,30,60,90,year)) time stamps. abilty to turn off avators / signatures --i realize you have low fi vesrion templet, but, being able to go into my controls, and disable / enable would be nice.
  9. either thumb, right handed. 7 button mouse left or right handed. depends on how i am setting. either kicked back or setting up right.
  10. nice details nologic. it took me a couple days. downloading / installing / configuring the varying apps you stated. plus just finding them. on my own. with what i gather on my own given about a week here at msfn. id say you are on the mark. from this newbie look of it all. thx
  11. double check voltage requirements. and it should auto slow down to given speed. (may need bios update)
  12. choice (forgot command reference) check ryanrvm bts.....cmd file it has a couple choice commands sets in it.
  13. not sure about registery enteries. old way of putting in restrictions with with lmhosts file located in windows\system32 directory see lmhosts.sam for sample file and info. to put in restrticted sites. instead of putting actuall IP to name put in loopback IP aka 127.0.0.1 nono.com 127.0.0.1 forgetit.com etc... when folks attempt to goto site they get url not found.
  14. besides files being driver files. what files / drivers are you adding within nlite? and what are you attempting to remove?
  15. on same workgroup name? can you see computers listed under network neighborhood in windows explorer? do you have any drives being shared? or printers being shared? what happens when you disable the firewalls on both machines? are you logged in as an administrator?
  16. with the method you choose in how to install.... you want the fixes applied during installation of the OS with the above you skiped a cruical step in that you need the CAT files from given hotfixes. (found in extracted hotfixes) and then list the cat files under [ProductCatalogsToInstall] plus your current listing of hot fixes under [setupHotfixesToRun] ---------------------- i may be wrong. but ordering of the hotfixes may be cruical as well. meaning some hotfix numbers may need re ordering. example kb8812345 kb8812346 kb8810001 kb8899079 kb5187915 in that some hotfixs may be need to be applied first before others are applied. its like applying service pack 2 first then attempting to apply service pack 1 afterwards. it just doesn't work. or less there has been some update some were along the way that i do not know about. (very well could be) ------------------- out of curisoty, why are you attempting to install updates at time of install instead of just applying them to the setup now. so you don't have to wait extra time each time you install the os to allow updates to take place.
  17. would guess driver problem as well. pull the card out of the system. and look it over for numbers / letters that may be a model number of some sort and do some googles. if nothing shows. then look at biggest chip on the card (hope that it doesn't have sticker over it) and do some googling for the part number on the chip and win64 drivers.
  18. add me to the list masters boggen AT mindless DOT com
  19. if ya tossing the pc. donate it and write it off on taxes.
  20. seen it, yawns. all snake oil id bet. get into dev's video cards for 3d applications like maya from aliswavefront or 3dsmax. now thats were you see the muscle and abilties. with cards on market last year being 2 gig minimium with 8 gig last time checked 6 months ago being current max being prodcued and sold. and this being on one or 2 cards.. not some 4 cards all trying to make most for one little thing.
  21. you need a server os if memory serves aka nt4.0, win2000, win2003 in order to have the correct routing / multi link capabiltes. and control when given limites are reached. winxp pro / home, winME, win98, etc... just don't have the guts / apps / abiltties / to do what you are wanting without headaches and expesive third party application. a cisco router could do it. but last i check the be out of me budget and i am sure yours. if your pc was running some flavor of linux you could prolly make it all work once you learned your way around in linux.
  22. your not needing a good video thats for sure.... so what ever comes with system or just an el'cheopa video card. with this being more of a test machine, and not a full blown server setting in someone buisness. atleast gig ram. good deal maybe 1.5 to 2gig max. cpu, atleast 2.0ghz. but also not lastest and greatest. latest and greatest will drop in price from being a 1000 bucks to 200 bucks in a few months. not worth it. atleast 80 gig hard drive. pending on how old OS you planing on dumping onto a multi boot system. may want to stay below the 120gig barrier to keep some hair. would suggest external hard drive encloser with a few 10 gig or elcheapo hard drives that you could turn into hot swapples for running os / configs from.
  23. perhaps putting a request in at the DriverPacks forum (located down towards bottom of main page of forums)) and Ryanvrm or someone else may make a installer or add what you need into one of the driver packs that you could then download and install. still... odd, a basic generic driver built into windows you would think would allow basic keyboard and only needing the actuall correct driver for extra keys etc... just strange. hope someone will be able to help ya. good luck
  24. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....2k_cookbook.asp might have some merrit, in my own thinking.... instead of trying to trick built in autoplay / autorun to work. and without trying to hack up a driver from someone else. use built in functions of the registry.... the link above from understanding. will allow you to make your own autorun.bat file in idea. and trick windows in a sense to think that your usb flash drive is a pritorty usb device. with its own application. example. USB video capture device with its own customized oem driver settings in a sense. ------------------------------------------- First, define the device group by adding the following ZipDrive key and its values. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Explorer AutoplayHandlers DeviceGroups UsbDrive Label [REG_SZ]= My Custom USB drive DeviceHandlers [REG_SZ]= MyUsbHandler think of this as defining / declaring a varable in a given proggraming app. in this case. MyUsbHandler = function ------------------------------------------ Each Zip drive device is then declared as part of the ZipDrive group, inheriting the properties of that group. Under the DeviceParameters key of the device instance, add a value named DeviceGroup as type REG_SZ. The data entry for this value is the name of the device group. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Enum USB Vid_059b&Pid_0031 059B003112010E93 Device Parameters DeviceGroup [REG_SZ]= UsbDrive ((the Vid_059b&Pid_0031 059B003112010E93 guessing will be different for USB drive. this from understand another variable. but this is were we tell windows this type of hardware will be assigned to this variable. aka usb drive = this hardareware type ------------------------- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Explorer AutoplayHandlers Handlers MyUsbHandler Action [REG_SZ]= %UsbDrive%\autorun.bat InitCmdLine [REG_SZ]= /run ProgID [REG_SZ]= cmd.exe Provider [REG_SZ]= cmd.exe takeing last 4 varables for granted honestly no idea what to put for %usbdrive% variable it may be something different, same goes for initcmdline / progid / provider. this is more or less homebrew autoplay. were we say hay. when you call MyUsbHandler Do this. in this case run autorun.bat ----------------- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Explorer AutoplayHandlers EventHandlers GenericVolumeArrival MyUsbHandler [REG_SZ] this is what actuall starts it all. when you insert the usb drive. windows should get GenericalVolumnArrival it will call MyUsbHandler. which in turn will check that it is from a USB drive and not a cdrom or other device. and if it is a USB drive. to run autobat.bat located on the usb drive. --------------------------- i have zero knowledge or expereince with all this. but in theory above should work if the right variables get plugged into the correct spots in the registery. ---------------- some other thoughts.... what about mapping drive to a network share. and then some how get autorun to launch. me be thinking network share may become active when drive is plugged in ((aka share is found)) and start autorun? --------------------------------- from reading over links provided in this post and other post. i don't see autoplay working or less complete custom driver is created to include support for autorun. otherwords a hacked usbport.sys driver (spelling) which is doubtfull. be nice to have source code to it.... ---------------- and lastly. back to the oringal example of the usb video capture example. the link below lead me to the given idea... but below link also has autorun.inf, and looks like extra proggy to monitor usb drive being plugged in. plus possibly either custom usb drive driver or monitor application. http://www.usbman.com/forum/UltraBoard.cgi...165&SID=1070628
  25. rubs chin, i followed off our oringal post. and thinking some how driver problem. after re-reading, me-be thinking hardware problem, not driver, not software. check all your keys on the keyboard. and see if any of them are stuck down. (i doubt it is this but maybe) have you had your laptop apart? perhaps the ribbion cable has came loose. can you get into your bios of the laptop? aka when you first turn on your pc, you press "delete" key or "F2" key or "F6" key or something to enter bios? see manual of laptop and it should say... go get a cheap $5 to $10 buck keyboard, plug it in. and turn on laptop. no driver to be installed, no software, this should work. if not. something else has gone wrong at which case contact HP techsupport or who ever you bought it from to see about getting laptoped repaired. if the cheap keyboard works. it may be enteral ribbon cable that connects keyboard to motherboard. or could be other. in which case contact hp or who ever you bought laptop from and see about getting it fied for under warrenty.
