  1. You can get a keyfinder/changer called "Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder" here -- http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml This finds your origanal key and then you go to " Options > Change Windows Key " Type in your new key and this will tell you if it is compatable with the version of windows you are running. Hope this helps
  2. Can you give us a little bit more information on what you are needing?
  3. There is a cd copying program that you could install that does something like what your looking for here is a link to the software -- http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/...-Disc-Log.shtml
  4. Just use MagicISO or UltraISO to convert the .bin file to an ISO file.
  5. Here are a few more short cuts that you can use. Like you said its always nice to learn something new. I learned something new with that ctrl-shift-esc also! Natural keyboard shortcuts [Windows Key] Display or hide the Start menu. [Windows Key] +BREAK Display the System Properties dialog box. [Windows Key] +D Show the desktop. [Windows Key] +M Minimize all windows. [Windows Key] +Shift+M Restores minimized windows. [Windows Key] +E Open My Computer. [Windows Key] +F Search for a file or folder. CTRL+ [Windows Key] +F Search for computers. [Windows Key] +F1 Display Windows Help. [Windows Key] + L Lock your computer if you are connected to a network domain, or switch users if you are not connected to a network domain. [Windows Key] +R Open the Run dialog box. [Windows Key] +U Open Utility Manager.
  6. I fixed mine by running the Recovery Console and typing FIXMBR and after that ran I typed FIXBOOT and it worked after that.
  7. Go Here -- http://msdn.microsoft.com/windowsvista/ Then click on the big green button that says "MSDN Subscribers: Download the Windows Vista Beta"
  8. All I had to do is use the recovery console in XP to fix the MBR. All I did is start the Recovery Console and typed "FIXMBR" (without quotes) and let it do its thing then I also typed in "FIXBOOT" (without quotes) and restarted the computer and it booted streight to Windows XP Professional without bringing up any other choices.
  9. Did you try the drivers disk that came with your computer/motherboard? I found a link for a Bios and System update for the "Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe" here you go but be sure you know what your doing if it wants you to flash the bios. -- http://www.techspot.com/drivers/index/file/information/2427
  10. Best bet is to do a spyware scan with a good scanner like -- 1. Spybot S&D -- http://www.safer-networking.org/ 2. Ad-Aware -- http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Person...ubj=dl&tag=top5 Then fix what they find and go to -- http://www.trendmicro.com and do a free online virus scan.
  11. The reason I asked him if he had installed it before then the code may still be in his registry. Then he could use either "insaneware keyfinder" or even "EVEREST Ultimate Edition" both of which are not free. They do the trick though.
  12. Have you ever loaded this before and what software is it? If you don't mind me asking
  13. No problem. Sounds like you made a good choice with Ubuntu. I offer it to all my clients (I own my own computer repair service) and wave thier repair fees if they choose to let me install it on thier computers. (As long as they let me dump Windows though)
  14. Here this may help you although I am not sure as I don't have the Windows 2000 server up and running yet -- http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_...Q_21282417.html
  15. I use -- "Insane.Keyfinder.v1.2" to find my Keys to Windows and Office products or you can use "EVEREST Ultimate Edition" They both cost you though but its well worth it to get the information that you need.
  16. It is possible to do what you are asking with a program called "MagicISO" just use the tutorial for making a multi os disk and change it to what you are working on. Here is a link toi the tutorial -- http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-cre...multi-os-cd.htm
  17. I had trouble at first like this. Mine wouldn't boot off my DVD RW/CD RW drive even though my Bios was set right. So I took another DVD ROM to a friends house and tried to boot the disk there and it worked so I installed the DVD ROM on my machine at home and choose the options for the DVD ROM to boot first then the DVD RW/CD RW to boot second then the harddrive. Well I booted up with the disk in the DVD ROM and it worked fine. This made me think that the DVD RW/CD RW would not let me boot this type of multiboot disk (MagicISO makes the boot menu out of a *.bin file instead of cdimage file) so I took my DVD RW/CD RW to my friends house and tried it and the disk would not boot at all. When we tried the disk on 4 other machines that had a DVD RW the disk would not work. But it has worked fine in every machine that had a DVD ROM. Why this is we have yet to figure that out.
  18. Go here and try this just do it with linux instead of Windows -- http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-cre...multi-os-cd.htm I have made 2 MultiOS DVD's using this method and they both work great. One I have has 7 versions of Linux on it and 1 version of Windows the other has 7 versions of Windows.
  19. Why not use shareaza as it has Gnutella 1 and Gnutella 2 and eDonkey2000 all in one. It also uses bearshare and XoLoX as well as Limewire. And in my opinion it is far faster then most other p2p programs( that is if you set it up right). Oh by the way it also handles torrents.
  20. All I have seen in the Vista so far is the ease of installation and the graphics. It is a bit of a memory hog (gotta shut down a lot of services that don't need to be running). I like Vista so far and am eagerly awaiting the next Beta 2 to be sent to me.
  21. First go here -- http://www.bootdisk.com/ Then get a blank 3 1/2 floppy disk and make that then restart the computer with the 3 1/2
  22. Great tip! Now I don't have to search my life away when I install Vista
  23. Want to try a very user friendly Linux distro? If yes then go here and they will send you a LiveCD and a full install Version of Ubuntu. http://www.ubuntulinux.org/
  24. Can somebody please give me a link to a free anti-virus program that you'd recommend? What does "AVG" and "ans scan" mean? What are the rules? Kind of a newbie around here. Thanks for the help! I use an online virus scanner -- http://www.trendmicro.com/hc_intro/default.asp Its not let me down yet!
  25. To have a spyware/malware/spam free internet. Also to get my computer business up and booming once again.
