First disable all the security features on the Linksys and then try to connect. If that works then you know the Linksys AP is OK.

How to kill a running Programm
druiddk replied to mediapla's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
OK! Thanks for clarifying that -
Hi Grake, You could use my script to execute during first administrator login (if you enable one autologin): net user /add %computername% net localgroup administrators %computername% /add This will create a new user with the name of the computer and without a password. NOTICE! If your using a non-english version of Windows you need to change the "administrators" to the correct name. For example I am using the danish version where the name is "Administratorer". You can get a list of groups on your PC using this from a command prompt: net localgroup

@MCT > I seem to be having the same problem. I guess they changed something

How to kill a running Programm
druiddk replied to mediapla's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@gunsmokingman: AppName, Is this the WindowTitle your referring to? or the filename.exe? -
@itsme_4ucz You should NOT do this during RunOnceEx since at that point the installation is no longer working under the DefaultUser, hence the tweak will only apply to the Administrator and not any other users.

You can use the killtask.exe (This has been covered in the forums before). -

Here is mine: I use cmdlines.txt in the $OEM$ folder: [Commands] "REGEDIT /S quickl.reg" Obviously the quickl.reg is placed in the $OEM$ folder together with the cmdlines.txt Here is my quickl.reg quickl.reg

@Takeshi The file wuauclt1.exe is part of the "Background Intelligent Transfer Service". It retrieves Critical Updates for Windows and shows up on the task manager process list when its waiting for confirmation - for example to confirm permission to download a file. Info found at Security Task Manager

BTW! I used this method to enable the QuickLaunch bar and have a script copy the shortcuts that i put in before making the .reg file. After Unattended finishes the icons are sorted the way I want This is the post im refering to: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=44559

As I expected this is the culprit ; Disable Simple File Sharing [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa] "forceguest"=dword:00000000 Remove this and you should be back to not having to enter passwords

CDROM drivers become inoperable during RunOnceEx
druiddk replied to tkmadison's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Hi tkmadison, Are you installing software off your CD during RunOnceEx? Usually you would place it in the $OEM$ folder that gets copied to the harddrive and then install the software trough %SystemDrive% variable.. -
Hi Kingg, I think it would be a good start if you posted the registry tweaks you used so we can review them. Please remember to post them in CODE tags. EDIT: Actually i think you might have included this registry tweak that turns off simple file sharing. ; Do not use Simple File Sharing (does not work in XP HE) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa] "forceguest"=dword:00000000

@MHz: Can you make an example of running a .cmd script from the registry RunOnce? Thank you in advance.
-
AHA! You can check if this registry entry exists: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 0\Scsi Bus 0\Target Id 0\Logical Unit Id 0\] "Identifier"="VMware Virtual IDE Harddrive" This holds some information on VMware.VirtualDisk. I dont know how to do the check, but I'm sure someone can help you out make a script that will check for the existance of this key.

I dont think if you want to do it this way, but nLite can remove that limitation for you. Checkout http://www.nliteos.om -
Hi MCT, In prompt you can write "set" and it will show you all the variables. I just tried it in VMware and the only thing that i can notice is this: When i do it in the host Windows XP i get this: PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE=x86 PROCESSOR_IDENTIFIER=x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 4, GenuineIntel PROCESSOR_LEVEL=15 PROCESSOR_REVISION=0404 However when i do it in VMware (on the same pc) it changes a bit: PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE=x86 PROCESSOR_IDENTIFIER=x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 8, GenuineIntel PROCESSOR_LEVEL=15 PROCESSOR_REVISION=0408 I dont know if this is helpful to you at all...? EDIT: Hmm no I dont think this is helpful I just tried doing set on another server running VMware and the values are totaly different (obviously because its a different architecture).
