  1. What happens if you run explorer from a command prompt?
  2. Acronis works with w2k3.
  3. 3 things to know from you: what internet connection / speed you have, what is the configuration of the pc and what games we are talking about. Then we may help, but my suggestion is hold on for now with paying for that NIC until you answer the above.
  4. Everything working flawlessly on my rig. See specs in my signature. EDIT: I was running the rig without AHCI enabled until a few days ago when puntoMX posted how to enable AHCI after windows is installed. Now I'm running with AHCI enabled and everything seems just fine *touch wood*.
  5. Just to confirm that it works in Vista on the configuration in my signature. However, since Vista has the drivers built in, you only need to run the .reg file and restart. That's what I did and after 2 restarts I now have AHCI enabled with all its features and benefits. And yes, running with AHCI enabled has sped up the copy times (tested in Total Commander, average 32MB/s without AHCI, ~55MB/s with AHCI enabled). Once again, nice work guys! EDIT: I forgot to mention that the structure of the reg file works ok in Vista and the keys are correctly located in the registry.
  6. It is called creating a network and yes you can do it. You will need a cross-over LAN cable (CAT5 will do just fine), setting the adresses of the laptop and the pc, subnet masks and workgroup then sharing the folder(s) you need to copy.
  7. mmmmmm... coffee!!! Nice rig you got. And glad that you like it and get things done the way you want
  8. Do the 2 front speakers work? Can you hear anything from them? Are there any knobs on the subwoofer box? Can you try the speakers on a different pc?
  9. Yes, it is missing from the location where the setup package is looking for it (D:\)
  10. That error shows a corrupt installation file. Download it again then try from step 1.
  11. First thing to do, gypsysnail: remove Norton and use either Avast or AVG, both free. Norton is a resource hog and not very good at protecting your pc. Once you uninstall it, you'll see what I mean
  12. 1. reinstall Stopzilla, reboot, uninstall. 2. CCCleaner.
  13. boltsink2303, 2 things: 1. Please lose the caps lock. 2. Read geek's and my post above. You need 2 identical drives to set up a RAID array.
  14. Just my 2 cents... Since you are talking about socket 754 and 939, what is an Intel driver doing in your system? Socket 754 and 939 are AMD...
  15. First off, welcome to THE forum! Second, in order for us to help you, we need more info from you, such as what antivirus are you using and what firewall, if you scanned your pc with the anti-virus, etc. A good place to start you off is downloading Spybot Search&Destroy, install it and run it. After that download HiJackThis, run it and attach the log it creates to a future post in this thread. Good luck!

    COD4

For those with compatibility issues, have you tried to install it on a machine running XP and then copy the COD4 folder altogether?
  17. Hauppage make good cards.
  18. In order to set up a RAID array you will need BOTH HDD's to be the same size.
  19. That's interesting, Punto... I had Vista installed on my previous rig (HDD set up as IDE) and when I upgraded the pc I didn't want to format and reinstall Vista so I set up the new BIOS to see the SATA HDD as an IDE device. Then I thought I might take advantage of the AHCI features and changed it in BIOS. Boot the machine ---> BSOD. Reverting to IDE gets rid of the BSOD. Any idea how I can enable AHCI without reinstalling? All the specs are in my signature and I am using Vista Ultimate x86. Thanks for any / all input.
  20. Punto, nice work!!! Does it work for Vista too?
  21. Hello and welcome to THE forum! As we have rules here, please take the time to read them, especially rule #1 ... With all due respect, we do NOT help people using pirated software.
  22. What happens if you right-click on a media file (.mp3) and chose "Open with Windows Media Player"?
  23. What codec are you using? Uninstall it and install ffdshow or see these posts: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=156
  24. Just google for ffdshow, download it and install it
  25. 20 GB for Vista and a bunch of programs needed for everyday use. All the music, movies, etc. go on a different partition temporarily until I find the time to move them on my file server.
