  1. Where's that "Win 98 startup Disk" at that point ? In your hand ???
  2. Is this about an external networked drive ?
  3. Set the speaker setup to "Laptop Mono peaker" or any other "Mono" choice you might have. This is in Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices / Audio / Sound Playback / Advanced.

    N Lite

He's not trying to install nLite, he is trying to install XP made with nLite 1.4 final over an XP made with 1.4beta (and thus with the SFC bug). I'd say no.
  5. Come on, less than a minute on the official site... http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/support/drivers.php
  6. I have that file systeminfo.exe in my system32 directory and I don't have Office installed here.
  7. Or maybe a sort of "save ongoing settings to unfinished ini file" ? If you've used the program, you've noticed that the source directory is also the target directory, there is no temp directory, so no going back once last step is made. If that last step is not made, the last session is not saved so changes are revoked.
  8. Flat screens are points, immobile pixels. If the lines are bent, your screen is physicaly disformed.

    Printer?

same question, same answer, I don't know what to add. Does it not work ?
  10. I believe he talks about those in there HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell
  11. What about some relevant info ? OS, built-in and/or added users, admin or not, with or without password ? Installation just done or did it worked before ?

    Printer?

If you can define that printer as a local printer, it will be available to all accounts. Obviously you need to be admin to do it and to define the new local port (by it's IP for instance).
  13. You must have configured all folder to be viewed sorted by date by default. Sort a folder by name, then use menu /Tools /Folder Options /View and click "Apply to all folders", close and reopen Windows Explorer, should do it.
  14. As stated by d1ck, there is no "disable simple file sharing" option in XP Home. I can confirm, we just lost 2 days .
  15. Have you used the program at all ? Did you have any problem ? Why not simply follow the order of the program ?

    XP Nlite problem

There was a little bug in those 1.4 beta and RCs, that got fixed in the very last version (out this 4th of november) I believe that would be the cause of your problem. Also there is an nLite forum section if you need more input.
  17. LOL, I once mailed Liteon about an HDD video recorder, I sometimes had no sound and then when it happened also no sound on the recording. They advised me to "try with an other brand of media". ....I told them to drink a coffee and have a minimum respect for their customer.
  18. Is it a primary partition you try to install to ? What size ? From what you say C: is not on the SATA ?
  19. We know what we're talking about, it's a 700MHz CPU with 256mb RAM, so XP will be (verry little) faster. I agree with TravisO, 2k would only be half a step, unless you have a license and really need an application that doesn't run under W98.

    IMAGEX

Ok, maybe I wasn't clear. What I'd do is.... on your "other" computer, create two primary partitions instead of one and install your XP in the 2nd partition. Get your image from that 2nd partition so you can apply it to the 2nd partition of your computer. So it boots the 2nd partition.
  21. Create a txt file, copy-paste that text in it, rename with .reg extention, launch with double click.
  22. Have you checked for jumpers ? Does it appear in Disk Management ? Around what year was that thing made ?
  23. Are you sure H:, I:, J:, K: and L: are not your multi-card reader ? Check in Disk Management instead.

    IMAGEX

I'll think about an other solution when you've tried the first one.
  25. Should be quite easy with "BartPE", but there should be even easier solutions.
