1. So, what should I do? Should I include KB898461 and the WMP11 & IE7 updates (namely KB938127)in HF or not? Actually, if I don't include 'em, WU does not want me to have 'em (except - obviously- 898461 & 941569). bye!
2. Oh, and BTW, why does TC include KB929399 KB936782 KB939683 KB938127 In his XP SP3 updates list, even when WU doesn't ask for them? I mean, after installing XP SP3 with IE7 & WMP11 slipstreamed, MU only asks for KB890830, KB941569, KB947864 & (god knows why) KB898461. bye!
3. Hi! I just run HFSLIP 1.7.7 on an XPSP3 source + IE7 + WMP11 and WU wants me to have KB898461 (package installer). Why??? isn't this a really old update? I have ran previous versions of HFSLIP (like 1.7.6) on XPSP3 and the same updates and WU didn't ask for KB898461. Should I just put it in HF? or should I handle it some other way? Here's the log: This file is automatically generated by HFSLIP HFSLIP is for personal use only Copyright© TommyP 2005-2008 ============================HOW TO REPORT A PROBLEM============================ If running into problems, refer to http://hfslip.org/support.html HFSLIP support forum: http://msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=129 =============================================================================== Host OS - Windows XP HFSLIP Version - 1.7.7, build 80604 HFSLIP Path - C:\Temp\HFSLIP\ OS in SOURCESS - Windows XP Professional SP3 Spanish MSIE Version - MSIE7 Drivers - DRIVER.CAB Updated CD Install Path - Default CDTAG - WIN51 =============================================================================== Files in your HF folder: IE7-WindowsXP-KB947864-x86-ESN.exe IE7-WindowsXP-x86-esn.exe Windows-KB890830-V1.41.exe WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe //(new version) WindowsXP-KB941569-x86-ESN.exe wmp11-windowsxp-x86-ES-ES.exe Files in your HFCABS folder: LegitCheckControl.cab MUAuth.cab MuCatalogWebControl.cab muweb_site.cab Swflash.cab wbemoc.cab Files in your HFGUIRUNONCE folder: messenger.msi Files in your HFSVCPACK folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK_SW1 folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK_SW2 folder: Files in your HFTOOLS folder: boot.bin cWnd.exe cygwin1.dll HFANSWER.INI HFSLIP_PRE_TZ4.CAB HFSLIP_PRE_TZ4.CMD mkisofs.exe modifyPE.exe Files in your REPLACE folder: =============================================================================== HFSLIP run time: 9m32s
4. That is, IF you don't delete the SOURCE folder every time (like I do). When I use HFSLIP, I run it, to create the necessary folders, then copy the source from CD and finally copy all HF/updates/cabs/etc. (needless to say, my CD source is already at SP3 level) That way, I don't have files sitting on my HD, just wasting space. Cheers!
5. I know how HFSLIP handles SP3 and all other updates, like TC said, but have you tried my approach? maybe some weird error/incompatibility prevents WMP10 from being successfully slipstreamed in the same "run" along SP3... Plus, if your source is already at SP3, you will save A LOT of time every time you run HFSLIP (because you'll only be slipstreaming IE7+WMP11 and post-sp3 HFs, and not SP3 EVERY time, it's as simple as that) bye!
6. you should slipstream SP3 FIRST via the usual method and then run HFSLIP that source that's already at SP3 level...
7. Quick Question, the wbem fix is for the ".mof" file not found error? I thougt that was already solved in RC5...
8. that's close enough for me. Thanks again, TC. Bye! PD: BTW, I can always edit HFSLIP.CMD on the CD and replace "/qb" with "/qn", right?
9. Alright, just one last thing: Will it be run in silent mode?
10. What I meant was if I had to put the unmodified .msi or file or put a customized executable, like the one I mentioned earlier in this thread..
11. thanks! Should I put the .msi file in HFGUIRUNONCE? just like that? bye!
12. That's good news. A question, though, is HFSLIP 2.0 fully functional? Any differences between it and HFSLIP 1.7x? BTW, Is there a way to make HFSLIP execute messenger.msi at first logon instead of at T-13? Maybe compressing it to a self-extracting exe which will execute messenger.msi upon decompression and placing it in the appropriate folder? (this is not my idea, it's someone else's) bye!
13. Sorry, Dude, But I'm talking about WINDOWS messenger here, not MSN/LIVE messenger. Anyway, I installed on a VM only to reproduce the error. The exact error is (translated from spanish): "Product: Windows Messenger 5.1 -- Error 1406. The value DW0200 cannot be written on the key \Software\Microsoft\PCHealth\ErrorReporting\DW\Installed. System Error. Check If you have access rights on this key or get in touch with technical support personnel" Error is 11406, generated by MSIInstaller (please note the discrepancy with the text about the error number) User is NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. And immediately after that, another error: "Product: Windows Messenger 5.1 Installation Error", also generated by MSIInstaller, error code 11708. bye!
14. Hi again! Well, if I install it manually after windows has completed setup, works fine (that's how I usually do it BTW). I am using the same installer, but that same installer works fine in both windows (2k/xp) when installed via double-clicking the file. I recently noticed something: after windows is installed, I looked in the system event viewer and found an error complaining that messenger.msi cannot be installed because it doesn't have permission to write some registry key. Maybe it should be installed "impersonating" the "local system" account or something like that.
15. Ok, removed the MUI, re-built and re-installed and it worked like a charm. Thanks again, TC and keep up the good work!
16. Thanks, TC. I'll try without the MUI for IE7. And yes, I tried to attach the log directly, thanks for the tip! bye!
17. Hi! I decided to give HFSLIP64 a try, so I built an updated CD. Everything went fine, but after windows was installed I encountered problems with IE7. First, the "about" box shows up completely empty (blank). Second, trying to go to Microsoft update results in IE crashing (error in ieframe.dll) Third, Automatic updates wants me to have KB947864, even though I had already included it in HF. BTW, can I use cWnd.exe with regular HFSLIP as well? Thanks. Here's my log (excuse me, but due to some unknown prob. I'm not able to attach files) This file is automatically generated by HFSLIP64 © TommyP, 2005-2008 / © Tomcat76, 2008 ============================HOW TO REPORT A PROBLEM============================ If running into problems, refer to http://hfslip.org/64/ HFSLIP support forum: http://msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=129 =============================================================================== HFSLIP64 version - HFSLIP64 v1.1.3, build 64-80429 HFSLIP64 path - C:\Temp\hfslip64\ SOURCE OS - Windows XP Professional x64 Edition SP2 English MSIE version - MSIE7 DRIVER32 - No updates DRIVER64 - DRIVER.CAB updated =============================================================================== Files in your HF folder: IE7MUI-x64-enu.exe IE7-WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB938127-x64-ENU.exe IE7-WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB947864-x64-ENU.exe IE7-WindowsServer2003-x64-enu.exe MUAuth.cab muweb_site.cab Windows-KB890830-x64-V1.40.exe windowsmedia11-kb929399-v2-x64-intl.exe WindowsMedia11-KB936782-x64-ENU.exe WindowsMedia11-KB939683-x64-ENU.exe WindowsMedia11-KB941569-x64-ENU.exe WindowsMedia6-KB925398-v2-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB924667-v2-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB925148-v4-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB925902-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB927891-v5-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB929123-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB930178-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB931261-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB932168-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB932596-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB933729-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB935839-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB935840-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB936021-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB941202-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB941568-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB941644-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB941693-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB943055-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB943460-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB943485-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB944653-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB945553-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB946026-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB948590-x64-ENU.exe WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB948881-x64-ENU.exe WindowsUpdateAgent30-x64.exe wmp11-windowsxp-x64-enu.exe Files in your HFSVCPACK folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK_SW1 folder: Files in your HFTOOLS folder: boot.bin cWnd.exe cygwin1.dll HFSLIP64_POST_DelObsBin.cmd HFSLIP64_PRE_SWFlash9.cab HFSLIP64_PRE_SWFlash9.cmd HFSLIP64_PRE_TZ4.cab HFSLIP64_PRE_TZ4.cmd mkisofs.exe Files in your REPLACE folder: C:\Temp\hfslip64\REPLACE\AMD64\MPLAYER2.IN_ =============================================================================== HFSLIP64 run time: 14m15s

Yep, just tested it! works fine! Nice work, TC. BTW, messenger.msi is still not getting installed at T-13 (or never for that matter). bye!

XP SP3

****, everything went fine, except KB947864 is not integrated or it doesn't take. After installing windows, MU/WU wants me to install it, even though I put it in HF.

XP SP3

I'll be damned!!!!! the VM's date was wrong, fixed it and now it works. BTW, now that I can use MU, it wants me to have KB947864 (it replaces kb944533) I'll throw it into the mix and rebuild. bye!

XP SP3

Well, included cmdow, reinstalled, but I still can't open MU, same error. What is going on?
22. jvidal

XP SP3

Ok, tried it. Installation went fine, no more errors with that .mof file. Had a little problem with cmdow (it seems it was not included, 'cause the AV thinks it's a virus and blocked it. I'll rebuild with the AV disabled). Everything went fine, except MU, it won't load. I get an error page, with error code:0x80248015, maybe it's related to cmdow not being included, probably something wasn't installed because of that. Still, great work, TC. thanks again!

XP SP3

niiice, I'll try it, thanks. Another thing I'll try (if rc4 fails) is to slipstream IE7 & WMP11, but only one a time, to see which one is causing problems (seems pointless now that I read that you found the problem) Bye and thanks again for your great work, TC!

XP SP3

@tc do you mean SP3 RC2 or HFSLIP 1.76 RC2? I'm using SP3 final and HFSLIP 1.76 RC3 And remember that I'm slipstreaming IE7+WMP11 over an already slipstreamed SP3 source, I'm not including the SP in HF. bye!

XP SP3

There's something really weird going on here. I also tried with the English version of windows, same result: .mof file not being found during install. Keep in mind that I am running HFSLIP on an SP3 source (already slipstreamed via the normal method). That SP3 source installs perfectly. You saw my log, I'm not doing anything wrong, been using HFSLIP for quite a while now, never had a problem. What else can I try? bye!
