hmm i have seen this, try the second one, checking through the run key and see if it is in there i cant for the life of me remeber how i fixed it, maybe it was by checking that key though so give it a go

as has been said, ensure its allowed through the firewall, disable simple sharing and open gpedit and find a policy that says "allow local users to authenticate as themselves" this essentially means that if you have an account on each pc with the same name and password they will be able to authenticate with the other pc and see any shares remeber though xp as with all clients i believe are limited to 10 concurrent connections good luck p.s if its xp home then im afraid there is no GPO for this

Hi, you could just do an inline repair of it, insert the windows cd, boot from it, press enter to the first screen, F8 and then r to repair the installation. This should replace all of the windows files with the ones from the cd. BTW this will remove all hotfixes that are not slipstreamed onto the cd, so you will have to reinstall them good luck!

Hi all, a few days ago i used exmerge to export aboput 15 mailboxes to pst's, normally very convenient however, all the mailboxes i exported (yes they were under 2gb) were corrupted so i had to run scanpst on them all anyway! what a pain in the arse, has anyone seen this happen? and more importantly does anyone know how to stop it? like is there a way to get exmerge to verify the pst's it exports or something? thanks

if you have a backup you could use the recovery console to copy the file back into system32

i know this isnt answering your question in the way you wanted but have you got R2? it has a great print management console. Either that or use good ol con2prt.exe from the zero admin resource kit, you can map printers, set defaults ect. just a suggestion

Hi all i am running XP X64 and i am trying to install server 2008 beta 3 X86 on virtual pc 2007 but i keep getting an error saying the cpu is not compatible with 64 bit mode? has anyone seen this? does anyone have any ideas on how to get around it? thanks

Cluberti is right the business stuff is 10x better, although i setup a network for one guy at home that consisted purely of linksys equipement, 1 router and 2 range extenders and it was very good. He had a 3 floored old house (thick bricked) and the wireless reached everywhere. So if anything i would recommend Linksys thanks P.S the channel must be the same on all devices not different
