No probs, i hate that nag screen too
-
this may be totally stupid but, can you introduce a new dhcp server to the network and set DHCP reservations so that a paticular card is given the address you want it to have?
-
with Avira the nag screen can be removed, all you have to do is in the local security policy create a new software restriction policy under additional rules add a path rule to the avnotify.exe and disallow it and it will never nag you again

foward port 20 and 21 to the NAS, both are required for FTP port 20 is for the data and port 21 is flow control i believe, then you shouldnt need to bother with the WAN side of the NAS box

its because norton is so badly written it would seem that the developers of the program think nowadays "cpu cycles are inexpensive and memory is plentiful so lets write bloated code and try and get away with it, no will notice" sure a home/novice user wont notice, they would think "antivirus is a good program, it wouldnt slow my pc would it?" but an expert user knows differently.

thats really interesting stuff nmx, so do u prefer kixtart over any other script to be run at logon? if so why? ease of use? or just familiarity with that language? thanks
-
why bother with all that when there is a free removal tool from symantec? http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...005033108162039

Is this possible? XP connected to only 1/2 IP addresses
eyeball replied to rsb's topic in Windows XP
a hardware firewall would be able to be configured the way you are describing -
re-install autocad and then use windows cleanup utility (free download from MS) to remove it fully, then see if it still happens
-
is it overheating?

Hi, thanks for the memory dump, your problem is being caused by win32k.sys here is an article from MS on it http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816047#2 thanks

TCP/IP connection Limit patch for x64
eyeball replied to eyeball's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
thank you sir! -
ok that gives me a lot more information i think we need to create a set of static routes to tell the win2k3 server what to do with traffic destined for the other subnet. you will something like... Route add 88.200.110.0 MASK 255.255.255.128 88.200.111.xxx (IF 2) Route add 192.168.0.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1 (IF 1) replace XXX with your external IP first try the routes without the "IF part", and also excuse me if it is wrong, i havent used static routes in a long while and im in a rush to get off to work whilst typing this take care EDIT : if i telnet to the IP of your gateway it does prompt me for a password so it must be a router of some sort. i think you must be on an internet facing network, each using fully featured NAT to get an IP. how do you plug your w2k server to the internet? Do they just provide you with an Rj45 socket to plug into?
-
ah, i presumed that a router would be between you and the internet. if you ping another client pc by hostname, what is the IP address that it returns? there must be some other device between you and the internet, maybe a router with fully featured NAT or something? what DNS Servers do the 2 machines have? the same? or different? do you know how to use nslookup? if so that could help track down name resolution problems too. let us know and we will go from there

what are the 2 IPs that the win2k3 box has? and what is the IP of the XP box?
-
thanks again, i think il just scrap the idea, i tried to do it on the cheap by getting the cables from ebay but obviously came across this problem, i dont really wanna spend anymore £ on this, if i ever want to play it, my trusty old portable TV will do. it would have been nice to see it on shiny LCD though lol cheers

thanks PuntoMX, i have at the moment an N64 to RGB cable and then i have an RGB to VGA cable. i have connected the 2 together with no output, so i assume its a problem with the 50hz n64 not showing on the 60hz monitor. If i could mod the N64 to output @ 60HZ that would work also... i cant seem to find much on it at all though

Can i connect 2 pcs with direct lan cable ?
eyeball replied to grafx1's topic in Networks and the Internet
if they both auto-sense though, he would be ok with a straight through cable you will need to set a static address on each pc for it to work, or you could let XP just use its own automatic private ip addressing scheme -
Hi all, i have 2 monitors that both run at 60hz natively, and i want to connect an N64 to one of them, however N64s in my country run at 50hz. So does anyone know if i can make a display use 50hz with a cable or something? or would i just have to buy a 50hz monitor? thanks for any help

May I disagree? I paid for a 1-year licence 12USD + VAT And about BitDefender... Did you notice its memory footprint? Bigfoot is a kiddie in comparison WOW, i thought it was £30 over here, il have to check again cos i really love it. But bitdefender? i mentioned Avira antivirus which is seriously a great product, is Avira part of bitdefender or something? or have i got the wrong end of the stick?

Is there some way to log/track down a freeze in XP?
eyeball replied to heffalump's topic in Windows XP
you need to create a memory dump to find the cause of error, please see this thread http://www.msfn.org/board/Creating-memory-dumps-t90244.html it is the only way to be certain of tracking down the cause, aside from a re-install -
you should create a memory dump and then analyse it to find the cause of the problem. see this thread http://www.msfn.org/board/Creating-memory-dumps-t90244.html

NOD32 is great but expensive, currently i am running Avira AntiVir free of charge, i have disabled the splash screen and denied myself access to the .exe that causes the advert to pop up every now and again, and with these tweaks i think it is just as good as NOD32, if not better cos its free!
