  1. ok to install virus definitions i simply updated the definitions by downloading the file from symantec website before i ran the check with installrite to see what changes are made, to do with a fresh install of nav look for a folder called virusdef download the latest update to that folder (.exe) remove all readonly from the folder and run PATH:\NAV\VIRUSDEF\(DEFINITION FILENAME).exe /e
  2. windows xp will never be cut down to less than 210mb use xplite remove all the features you can then your left with something less useful than winpe because you will have removed everything. now here is my proposition copy all you setup files to a harddrive, ie C:\i386 only remove the lang folder and the upgrade folders this about 380-400mb roughly now make the drive bootable ie SYS C: from a win98 bootdisk, make sure you can load smartdrv and then ghost the drive the image should be about 200mb roughly if you use compression. try it and let me know, this is only soloution i can recommend now.
  3. Please Remove the link as well i forgot to mention earlier this could be classed as warez which is not accepted and goes against the rules, i would remove it before a moderator sees it because then you will recieve a warning. Also this is a major problem of pre release software ie Beta releases and leaked versions as they are not offical there is no support for them and many loopholes / security updates are left wide open leaving very vunderable systems. you may not realise how vunderable you are by running the software but what happens when you need that vital windows update it wont install, i use beta software myself on a dual boot config but it is not my primary os and never goes online so the risk of attack is minimised to an extent that i am comfortable with. anyways i suppose this is down to personal preference
  4. could be real but i would NOT Recommend using a beta service pack because many hotixes will refuse to install and your left very vunerable
  5. so i hate to be direct but what is point your simply using diffrent switches?
  6. can i ask what is diffrence between this windows media player 9 (OPK) and the one i already have which is the standard one you download, both i think can be automated install but i am confused. Please Explain somebody
  7. much appreciated thanks glad you found the information usefull.
  8. i couldnt download says there is a outside referrer error or sumthing, so i goto main page and error on page so i cant find link to download, i use flashget and set referrer link to your homepage and file downloads but is corrupted i try 3 more times each time your RAR file is corrupt i have not try the ZIP file. other than these problems i know this will be an invaluable resource for newbies.
  9. already included on the 911 software *wink* *wink* also covered by ERD commander *wink* *Wink* but am grateful for your repsonse
  10. or use InstallRite (google for link) which is freeware you can install your applications totally automated with the serial number and also the files are compressed to a high level to save lots of room for your final CD.
  11. ok i can not post here because it goes against the forum rules and i do not wish to be banned or flamed, the process is simple as running a file and patching certain files, no i am not talking of TweakNT at all. what do you require exactly please be specific on this CD you speak of a 'FULL OS' please define this, winpe comes with network support and a internet browser can be added ie Opera with little fuss, media players arent supported because the sound API isnt available and there is no DirectX.
  12. if i told u, you can set this 24hour limit to 49days, get an explorer shell, and many other tools for the 210mb file limit would you be impressed?
  13. set your bootorder to CDROM Hardisk, or Harddisk, CDROM only change to floppy, HARDDISK if you really need it.
  14. ok which bootdisks would you recommend? maybe include a cut down version of 911 Rescue (www.911cd.net) and setup the cd with bootscriptor? please dont leave this forum some of us genuinely appreciate your work
  15. i am not totally sure but i dont think you put them in drivers.cab it is something to do with oempnp or somethin sorri i am tired and go bed but i know somebody will post here maybe Gosh.
  16. and vice versa much information used in xp unattended can be used in win2k unattended.
  17. i am sure if you setup a system run sysprep and tick certain box's you can install on a totally diffrent system using ghost, also ghost generates a new SID automatically for the machine if i am correct.
  18. slipstream your drivers onto cd then you can have a automated cd, and much faster than floppy.
  19. hey all i am mostly reading the forums but posting not much, i have finally created my desired cd and after much planning/preperation and testing i have come up with this: i got all this on one cd i would like to know what else i could improve, all the applications are unattended, many are created by InstallRite and i have tested on many diffrent hardware configurations and no problems what so ever and i mean radical diffrent hardware e.g test on Intel P4 System and Intel p200,Intel p2 400 etc no problems. i assure you i have not faked this i can post screenshots if required i just want to know what people think of my cd and where i could improve further as i have acheived all i set out to do mostly thanks to this forum and especially -Gosh i wish to say a big Thanks btw the total size of the cd at present is 687MB the remaining 13MB i am hoping to leave free for future updates since the cd will be updated monthly hopefully. 20. The only way i could think of this would be setup say a system report using i dunno aida32 which can be automated to log to a file, do this on each possible machine then save them in %systemdrive%\Install\HardWare\Configs and compare it using md5 checksums after creating a report during guirunonce if the outputted file is equal to a config file install the config's apps if the config is not found install a standard set. i am not sure exactly how to do this but i know in theory how to do it and that is posted above im sure a more experienced user can post your script files which are required, than mayb this can be added to tutorials. 21. i would personally recommend using either file and settings transfer whenever you want to transfer, or use offline files.
  22. first command in your first script: FORMAT D: /Q /FS:NTFS /V:DATA Alternative Soloution Partition Drive before starting install of windows
  23. perform recovery installation on the server, personally i would use O&O Bluecon or even ERD Commander (for a free alternative please PM ME) also Barts PE Builder (http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/) is developing fastly
  24. grab symantec antivirus corporate client, you dont want the full blown norton antivirus because resource usuage is too heavy, this is a streamlined version which is low on resources and has a very quick response time if not the quickest for all antivirus companies. updates are available everyday except sunday so you can be sure your protected, also you can scheduale a weekly update from windows using task schedular, also if your protecting a network every server and workstation is kept up to date automaticallly each day. hope this is usefull, by the way i am not associated with symantec in any way shape or form i am not getting commission just i find their product to be the best ;-)
  25. oh the joys of that, least you get a symetrical year there wont be another one of them until lemme see 20,20 woo hoo
