  1. @Link21 Sorry but I didn't get that what does POS stand for? Does it mean "Popular Operating Systems
  2. It has been updated again: Major changes: Fast removing of USB mass storage devices (read in "C:\wupg\config" folder) is know possible. Updates added: KB916281 Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 KB917734 Security Update for Windows Media Player 9 KB913433,KB917344 ,KB918547,KB918439 http://bpa23.host.sk/wupg.html
  3. The say Firefox 3.0 won't support Windows 98 and ME.
  4. Patch Tuesday again http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/ms06-jun.mspx And the surprise there should be 5 updates for Win98/ME . The bigger surprise is the wmf security issue gets patched : http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/ms06-026.mspx
  5. *Surprise* Finally theres a wmf patch for win98/me http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/ms06-026.mspx
  6. Because we could sue Microsoft because they claimed that there will be an update and know there isn't. It was so clear that they won't make a patch but they didn't even try. The good thing is that Microsoft couldn't downgrade the security rating from critical to not critical now(like they did often).^^ They can only say it's too dificult..., there are incompatibilities,.... lazy M$ .
  7. Also here: http://blogs.technet.com/msrc/archive/2006/06/09/434300.aspx I guessed it that M$ would be too lazy for it. Here they confirm my claime: This is because during the development of Windows 2000, we made significant enhancements to the underlying architecture of Windows Explorer. Due to these fundamental differences, these changes would require reengineering a significant amount of a critical core component of the operating system. Whe should write complaine e-mails to Microsoft about that.
  8. I have wrote Microsoft but they only told me something I already knew. Wooow I would have never expected that the update will not be available for Windows 98 at the same time -stupid copy&paste M$ idi0t.How incompetent can people be that they just copy&paste an old answer that everybody knows instead of writing something that would be new. Btw Frank is not my real name if you think so.
  9. I think maybe it's too much work for them and I believe that Microsoft will postpone it so long till it doesn't come out before 11.th July and therefore they won't even have to write it.
  10. @MDGx Microsoft recently brought out a new update for Windows 98 on Windows Update a few minutes before Patch Tuesday. Security Update for Flash Player (KB913433) http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownlo...fc0ba505bec.exe
  11. no, PROBLEMCHYLD. Automatic Updates NEVER works under Win98. The ACTUAL Windows Update site does NOT allow automatic updating under ALL 98 systems. Automatic Updates only work under Win2000 SP3/SP4, WinME, XP & 2003. It's up to microsoft to redo their windows update site to make automatic updates work for other versions of windows. about UPNP under Win98. copy the netsetup.exe file from the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ folder onto a floppy disk. Put the FD into a Win98 machine and run the netsetup.exe file, which will install some UPNP files onto Win98. But maybe its good it doesn't work, cause the Windows Automatic Updating could also make problems on installing updates automatically. Like with Windows XP and the update from ms06-015 when you remember what happened at many users systems afterward.
  12. Ohh.. I understand,so it's nearly impossible.
  13. Maybe this deviates from the topic, but can you then also check if the MSN Live Messenger (I still got 29 inventions if you don't have MSN Live Messenger already) works know?
  14. @Tihiy Whats that IE 7.0 icon? Did you make it that IE 7 runs on Windows 98 or is it only an icon?
  15. Windows XP is bullshît downgrade to 9x. *just making fun* I think this can be ~~closed~~ now.
  16. Such a luck that the "Vulnerability in Windows Explorer Could Allow Remote Code Execution (908531)" Update hasn't been released yet otherwise maybe we would have to cope with the same crap like on Windows XP.
  17. @eidenk I am using Windows 98se and my system hangs on replacing bitmaps with either ResourceHacker or Exescope what could be the reason?
  18. If someone may want to know how it continued and just found this entry. Here the new Topic
  19. I can remember that it worked from self once.
  20. I think that the included Movie Maker and Internet Games should show that also this applications can run under Windows 98/98SE.
  21. I read about the 98SE SP 2.1 on Pcwelt and also heared that the Windows 98 Upgrade Pack has been updated.
  22. Maybe the games would also run under win 98 .
  23. Isn't there already an Upgrade which contains the Internet Games from Windows XP. I think it was http://www.wupg98.co1.at I read about it on wikipedia.
