  1. Wupg98 has been re-updated! The changes: DirectDraw 3D settings added (registry tweak) hhupd (1.4) rootsupd ver. 8,0,2195,0 very much patched *g* BTW this should be the most stable version cause most work was finding program flaws this time. As there are no new Microsoft updates anymore has someone any ideas for patches ,hotfixes (hopefully not to large ones) that could be added in a newer version? If an unofficial ms06-015 patch can be made it will be consider to add that one. http://bpa23.host.sk/wupg.html
  2. Did you read everything written in Microsoft security bulletin MS06-015, winxpi? Quote from MS06-015 FAQ section: No ,I didn't because it was too much(the whole ms06-015 article) and my english is (because I'm a wiener *g* ) bad. I was intentionally too ask if verclsid.exe could be compatible with Windows 9x.
  3. Sorry, didn't see that you wrote "not possible".
  4. Sorry,isn't this a bit off-topic? OK B2T. Windows 2000 KB908531 includes at least these files: Shell32.dll 5.0.3900.7080 24-Mar-2006 08:54 2,361,616 Verclsid.exe 5.0.2195.7080 18-Mar-2006 22:21 21,264 Well Shell32.dll does work on Windows ME at least,right? And what is about this Verclsid.exe file, what is it for?
  5. Maybe you get an error message ,but what you can do to avoid this is changing the version to a higher one with "Resource Hacker" for example.
  6. Maybe with some $$ M$ will tell us the algorithm. Before they never cared about possible new issues that could result by installing a patch. M$ was just to lazy to make a fix in my opinion(maybe they thought they would have to make a second patch for Windows 98/ME too like for 2000/XP). One more thing... Windows ME and 2000 don't they have a similar architecture of Windows Explorer? *Motivation* >>Tihiy Please all motivate Tihiy!
  7. Is it possible to use the Windows 2000 files from the ms06-015 patch to fix the flaw in win98 because this could also patch the 2 GB file copy limit (KB318293) . So even if it's not possible is there a way to create an unofficial ms06-015 patch for win98/me ,anyway? Is someone maybe working on this? I believe it could at least function to replace the Windows ME shell32.dll with the 2K one,has somebody tried it,yet?
  8. Translating such a pack by one self is very hard work! =( And as it includes other ones updates that may not be in German it's not sure if this can be done.
  9. I also made links on Wikipedia. And over here . HTH
  10. This pack includes a shell32.dll file that should be the solution.
  11. Great Project the "Windows 98 + ME *still* alive" campaign . I'll join. I also put a link on my page. From me too a thank you.
  12. You just have to input the 3 digit Code in the upper right corner. Or is it an other problem?
  13. I still wonder why it doesn't work MS listed Windows 98/SE/ME as supported OSs for .NET 2.0
  14. Ohh no Link21 is here we are all going to get stupid ,just kidding! When you say that Windows 9x operating systems don't deserve to get longer support time in comparision to NT based systems because they are worse. Why did then Microsoft stop support for Windows NT 4 and 3.5 if you say they are better than 9x? Windows 98 rulez =) and I'm sorry to say it but Windows NT 4 sucks even Windows 95 had USB support *g* .
  15. This could work: MS06-033 -Vulnerability in ASP.NET KB917283 for Windows 98/ME 1.) Install .NET Framework 2.0 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.as...%2fdotnetfx.exe 2.)Install KB917283 for .NET Framework 2.0 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.as...2fMS06-033.mspx
  16. Hi guys! Today is the last Patchday (11th July 2006) and since there are still 70 000 000 Windows 9x users on the world ~20% of the users it could be a good idea to write M$ that they shouldn't stop support for Windows 9x. Maybe everybody who wants to could write an e-mail to support@microsoft.com and billg@microsoft.com(is this Bills adress? ) with the subject "extend support for Windows 98 " or similiar and then maybe it works like in 2003 . Otherwise billy boy & m$ gets spammed *ggg* what I think they deserve for there bugs and none support . What do you think?
  17. In earlier times when I was "sloppy" using Windows 98 I had to reinstall very often since I broke the system occasionaly. Later I did never really have to reinstall since I always could repair the system with "sysrec" which only over-installes on the current system. So I do very well on my Windows 98 now. On my Windows XP Laptop I never had to reinstall yet. [offtopic] Did you hear about this: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=78399 [/offtopic] Now B2T!
  18. Hi guys! I don't know if you already heard about it,did you? When you make a .url file with the following content on a Windows XP/2003 running system the Windows Explorer crashes and restartes again and again: url=file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:fil e:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:file:c:\aaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Too test it simply extract the contents of the .rar file on the desktop. http://hitcon.org/Nanika-desktop_explore_0day.rar
  19. I had the same problem, but I couldn't solve it.
  20. No of course it's not safe but it's somekind faster. I also had such a situation where the data didn't get finished writing on the flash drive but this happened on "the such so good" *ggg* Windows XP . On Windows 98 you get an error message, so you see (in comparison to win xp) Windows 98 is much better because afterwards you know when you shouldn't have pulled it out =) .
  21. I'll bring a little bit light in this thing: In default when you use an USB mass storage device in Windows 98 or Windows XP you can make a force unplug of USB devices and so don't have to click "safely unplug hardware" . Know when you install native USB you have to either click "safely unplug hardware" or get a warning dialog . So "remove usb sticks without having to end them through the systray" means that you don't have to safely unplug an USB device either from the systray or from the Windows Explorer then because you can remove them on force and don't get an warning dialog.
  22. Windows 98 Upgrade Pack got a new feature to remove usb sticks without having to end them through the systray. But this only works with the original systray.exe 4.10.2222 in win98. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=519767
  23. Try "AntiVir" its not so bad. http://www.free-av.com/
  24. Here a proof that Windows 98 is also used by governments:
