  1. If I want to request for example hotfix Q923762 for Windows 2000 SP4 (for unofficial win9x kb918899 update ) and want the "German" or for example "Spanish" version of this fix do I have to write to an other e-mail address than support@microsoft.com? Or is it enough to write them the desired language in the mail and then send it to support@microsoft.com .
  2. I find it strange why the newest version of urlmon.dll included in 918899 is 6.0.2800.1565 and the fix 923762 has 6.0.2800.1567 version. Did they skipe 6.0.2800.1566 intentionally?
  3. Theres anyway an update for this issue in Upgrade Pack 98 , specially designed for IE6.
  4. Now I remeber they removed this Feature in Windows ME so you can't start in DOS I think. Picture The window in the middle shows this. But anyway you could have made a system disk over "Software" in "Control Panel".
  5. You could try to workaround this problem by using the /S switch like: FORMAT x: /S Can you post a scrennshot?
  6. Hi winxpi, Did you replace the buggy URLMON.DLL noted by the_guy here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=546666 and add the missing files to the update noted by erpdude8 here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=545700 ? (Thank you for your work so far.) First : yes (here ) Second : yes
  7. Eventually install Windows 98/ME unofficial KB918899 Update for Internet Explorer 6 SP1 from here: http://files.filefront.com/IE60sp1_KB91889...;/fileinfo.html
  8. Does somebody have a cue if 5492 ,5504 or what ever are available to get from the net? I'm asking for public versions.
  9. OK lets make an unofficial MS06-045 update. But the verclsid.exe maybe would also have been essential part of the ms06-015 patch.
  10. I also did it like that. C:\TEMP is %TEMP% on my 98SE computer. @MDGx Don't know why this error comes upd, didn't happen on mine. Maybe it happens because you use an other directory then standard C:\Windows\Temp anyway you can simply extract the contents with e.g. winrar and then install using Q918899_d_RTMQFE.inf @all If someone want's to make an unofficial ms06-041 update it would be good to use the ms06-040 netapi32.dll file since it has an higher file version than the ms06-041 netapi32.dll.
  11. Patch Tuesday btw I made an unofficial Windows 98/ME 918899 Update for Internet Explorer 6 SP1 *cheers*. Does someone want to check. In English In German
  12. There are the following versions of user.exe: 4.10.2222 original Windows 98 SE 4.10.2223 Q242934 4.10.2225 Q258070 4.10.2226 Q242975-v2 4.10.2227 Q260067 4.10.2228 Q262830 4.10.2229 Q265115 4.10.2230 Q277822 4.10.2231 Q291362 If this is problem of all versions other than the original 4.10.2222 then the only possibility could be the modify the newest version - but it would need a skilled hacker I think. Microsoft will not fix this bug because it is not critical security issue. Petr Ok I tested this: 4.10.2222 user32.dll,user.exe ok (no ghost taskbar entry appears) 4.10.2227 user32.dll +4.10.2227 user.exe --> not ok (ghost taskbar entry appears) 4.10.2223 user32.dll,user.exe --> ok (no ghost taskbar entry appears) 4.10.2223 user32.dll +4.10.2226 user.exe --> not ok (ghost taskbar entry appears) user32.dll file version shouldn't be greater than the user.exe file version else Windows can't start: 4.10.2231 user32.dll +4.10.2223 user.exe --> Windows starts with error message 4.10.2227 user32.dll +4.10.2223 user.exe --> Windows starts with error message 4.10.2227 user32.dll +4.10.2226 user.exe --> Windows starts with error message So it's user.exe that causes the problems. The Problem occured on my system on tests with user.exe 4.10.2226 but I believe user.exe 4.10.2225 is the first file that has this bug.
  13. So know I'm in the second topic about the issue balderdash. nonsense. does the ghostly screen saver taskbar icons cause crashes, blue screen errors or lockups? you have not been able to prove that. I have installed the latest version of Tihiy's Windows 98 Revolutions pack and it seemed to have mostly fixed the multiple screen saver taskbar icon problem on my old Win98se computer. one good reason to install and use Tihiy's Win98 Revo pack. With the RPLite5 pack installed under Win98se, only one ghost screen saver taskbar icon only appears and would sometimes disappear or wont display multiple ghost icons. Tihiy rules! and shadell's a fool! I remember it causing a hanging on my system. But I don't know if there are maybe relative versions of this bug that look like this one but are caused by other files or have worse symptoms. This is how it looks like and how we don't wan't it to look like *g* :
  14. This is because I didn't know it was the same problem with other name. Sorry found out just some seconds ago that there is a similiar one .
  15. Hello Gape! Somewehere think I read that one once asked you about this "Empty Task Process Windows" "cosmetic" bug times before. This guy told, that you said that the system files user.exe and user32.dll cause this. Do you know what MS did wrong that this bug happens using the patched files? I would propose maybe to add this to the new unofficial SP (if it's possible) If how to fix it manual,I would very appreciate if you write here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=67610 or there http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=80140 Good summer holidays at all!
  16. I read somewhere that there is a "cosmetic" bug in Windows 98SE after instaling either Unofficial Win98 SE Service Pack or Windows 98 Upgrade Pack. I found out that it has to do with the user.exe and user32.dll files and now my question is if someone knows a way to fix it without having to use the unpatched 4.10.2222 version files? This is how it looks like: Would be interesting what M$ changed in the files that this happens.
  17. Yes, the Dsclient.exe update. I made some research and found out that this "DDE Server Window" message maybe comes from ole32.dll. If it has to do with this file maybe I just have a corrupt file. It looks similiar like this:
  18. Before I can shutdown or reboot my Windows 98 I get this fu*king "Wait-End Task-Cancel" dialog which hangs my system. What I noticed is that the title of the windows is called "DDE Server Window". Can somebody help me to find the answer to this problem, please?
  19. On Windows 98 nothing happens but on crap xp explorer must reload.
