  1. mmkay, I find myself slightly confused at this (I know the method, but the posts thus far....) @BoardBabe RunOnceEX deletes the keys after it has executed them. This is good for you. In your first RunOnceEX.cmd file, add an entry to your other one. As in, another entry of the form %KEY%\070 I didn't do the full thing, but hopefully you understand. It that command to execute the SECOND CMD file. Have the numbering so it's at the end. And then after words CLEANUP.CMD should run and restart. Upon restart the second RunOnceEX will start up for your drivers. The numbering in the second CAN startover, infact I recommend it. Just be careful in your first cleanup.cmd NOT to delete the stuff you need for your second RunOnceEX instance
  2. Execute the EXE. Let SETUP just sit there. Go to %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp And there should be a new folder in there from the ACDSee install. Inside it is the MSI.
  3. Don't post the link. I will remove it. Sorry. Just saw that on Nero's website, and don't wanna get MSFN in trouble. Though what goes on in private, we can't control.
  4. To make a winnt.sif you could try bored's Winnt.sif Creator. you could try the official microsoft one , setupmgr.exe you could use nLite's Unattended page you could use Notepad you could do any number of things. As for making the CD image bootable, there is a download on the Unattended webstie, where all you do is correct the file path, and double click. I personally find use of such programs (except Notepad) pointless. If you did it by hand, sure it would take alittle longer, but you would learn more, understand the setup process better, and be actually able to help yourself, instead of one of us fixing a glitch a program you used to make the file. I find myself sometimes not inclined to help people where all I see is them copying something form someone else, and then complain that it doesn't work.
  5. change in your file element [id=atom(toppanel)] { background: gradient(argb(0,0,0,0),argb(0,0,0,0),0) To that. That I think SHOULD hide it, if it doesn't....I'll keep looking for it. Then to change the bottom one two (it's the next section down) change the word toppanel to bottompanel and replace it accordingly in the other section.
  6. @prathapml Assuming he has a good majority of systems..... say 100. If he made 20 disks to install SP2 on (since he doesn't have other stuff), and stuck them in the system, if it did it on it's own it would be simpler then remember to right-click. So.....you either have to to the netfw.inf trick....or.... TITLE Upgrading to SP2 ECHO Installing Service Pack 2 Now... start /wait sp2.exe /q /n /z /o ECHO Configuing Firewall... start /wait rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 128 firewall.inf shutdown.exe -r -t30 -c"Now Restarting System after Service Pack 2 Upgrade" EXIT Save that in the root of the CD. Then plop it in the CDROM, and double click the file. Or... [AUTORUN] open=install.cmd Save that and the btch code above in the root of your CD, and call the file witht he[AUTORUN] in it autorun.inf. Then just put in the CD, and it's fully automated.
  7. indeed. The good majority of them are found in the ref.chm file that's included with the deploy.cab file in your SUPPORT/TOOLS folder on your XP CD, and there's an updated one on the website. Components - There's a post around here somewhere. Other mysterious ones are from the OPK pack.
  8. strange....I always found the baseball bat approach fixed my buttons doing the wrong thing..... But powercfg works fine over here settings ALL the options. Strange. I'll look into it though, as I do remember having to change some settings so the laptop doesn't go on Hibernate when I close the lid...
  9. could be worse......Roxio anyone? Two CDs to install the latest version fully
  10. If you want to reinstall XP, then you can put in the disc, and boot into the CDROM, and have Setup format the drive. BUt you're gonna sell a computer with your XP CDKEY on it?
  11. @amiels He's not doing an unattended install, he's just installing SP2 over his SP1 systems. @occir76 Use the one in IC if you have Home Edition, and IP if you have Pro Edition. To open it, navigate a command prompt to the folder, and type expand netfw.in_ netfw.inf Then it should be able to be opened up in Notepad just fine. Make the changes, save. then makecab netfw.inf Both makecab and expand are native to Windows XP systems.
  12. what was the error?
  13. I should note... unless your system has over i think 3 gigs of ram, these will NEVER be used. ntkrnlpa.exe ntkrpamp.exe
  14. What you want are the registry settings that are used to disable the firewall. [version] Signature = "$Windows NT$" DriverVer =07/01/2001,5.1.2600.2180 [DefaultInstall] AddReg=ICF.AddReg.DomainProfile AddReg=ICF.AddReg.StandardProfile [ICF.AddReg.DomainProfile] HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\DomainProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List","%windir%\system32\sessmgr.exe",0x00000000,"%windir%\system32\sessmgr.exe:*:enabled:@xpsp2res.dll,-22019" HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\DomainProfile","DoNotAllowExceptions",0x00010001,0 HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\DomainProfile","EnableFirewall",0x00010001,0 [ICF.AddReg.StandardProfile] HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List","%windir%\system32\sessmgr.exe",0x00000000,"%windir%\system32\sessmgr.exe:*:enabled:@xpsp2res.dll,-22019" HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile","DoNotAllowExceptions",0x00010001,0 HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile","EnableFirewall",0x00010001,0 That's what you want. You could do it one of two ways. One, extract the SP2 EXE you downloaded, and save all that in netfw.inf and replace netfw.in_ (it's compressed) with it. Or two, save that as an INF, and after SP2 is done installing (before restarting) right-click the file, and click Install.
  15. Yes. That should work. I call my batch changing script from GuiRunOnce. and you found the ((Stuff for screen one)) lol.
  16. for it to run first boot, they're supposed to be imported at CMDLINES.TXT not GUIRUNONCE
  17. for the time table we could always follow DOom3 and Half-Life 2's example, delay it to no end. The idea is good, but how can people not understand XML? It's one of the simplest markup languages.
  18. sorry... I rarely venture into this part of hte forum. And I turned off email notifications, I got too many of them. I'm righting a note and sticking it on the screen to come back here tomorrow and answer the question. Sorry it's taking so long.
  19. this is true.... but I dread the day when they close Steam or take something off the server. lol. But they don't have Blue Shift though....good thing I have that on CD.
  20. What does this have to do with Hotfixes?
  21. Alright, that's enough. @Dr_Jeff There are several possibilities. If indeed the keys don't work for someone, the best thing to do would be to phone microsoft and find out why. If they say they've been blocked, so them your paperwork and such that says you bought XP, and they should give you a new key. As for what could be wrong..... who knows. Most people assume piracy simply because of SP2 and not accepting a key. It's usually the primary cause. SO I must apologise if you were accused of something you don't do. I'm sure you're making sure you're typing it in correctly. Perhaps your KEY was only designed for SP1 or something (with Microsoft, anythign is possible) and that you needed a new key. Perhaps it's the fact that the key is from your Action pack. Or it's the upgrade from Windows 2000. I suggest calling Microsoft and finding out.
  22. sounds more like either an ISO creation problem (unlikely if you didn't change anythign in Nlite), or your BIOS aren't set to boot the CD.
  23. well to use random..... SET /A NUM=%RANDOM% %% 2 IF NUM=1 GOTO Num1 :Num0 (Stuff for screen one) GOTO END :Num1 (Stumd for screen two) GOTO END :END That's basically it. %RANDOM% is on EVERY NT system, and changes EVERY time you use it. %% 2 is modular arithmetic, and basically divides everything by 2 and stores the remainder in NUM, which can only be 0 1. If you used 3, you options would be 0 1 2.
  24. but consider now.... buying gold online gets you a prima guide, stickers, posters, and what have you. I personally think they mixed some details up. lol. But I want to buy the Collector's Edition disc, one so I have an extra key, two so I have the game on a nicely pressed DVD, and don't have to wait for a download if I forgot to backup the download.
  25. well, the simple thing would be if you wanted to follow the ISS method, is to ask someone to attach theirs. As it should be the same as one you create.
