  1. The switches for the rollup package have changed. The ones you will probably want to use are: /quite /norestart Don't you just wish they would stick with something already? hehe
  2. No... the point is that by using MS products we can offer our customers (from the guy who buys a car to the franchises) amazing uptimes and phenomenal support. Not to say that this isn't possible any other way, but this is what's best for us. We run the worlds largest used car franchise. We have more than 130 stores and 15-25 PCs at each store. Our network is secure, our desktops are secure and in turn our customer's information is secure. I am part of the team that supports all of this. Our CTO (Dave) came from the Mac/Linux community. He was an MS hater at one point, and has turned that around. I enjoy what I do and I enjoy being on the cutting edge. Not a whole lot of companies are one the cutting edge or technology.
  3. Hey guys... I just wanted to take a second to plug the Microsoft Case Study published this week for the company I work for. Take a second and look at it. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/casestu...seStudyID=14568 The two guys that were interviewed are my bosses.
  4. Yes, and that is great. I love the site none the less. But for this reason I am in the process of building a site similar to this and NTFS and Ne0win and any others, but where professionals can go to get help on issues uncovered here. Please don't take this as a slam or anything, because it's not meant to be.
  5. Well... let me be the first to say... Who cares!?

    Hi

    Welcome! Enjoy your stay!
  7. Why would you be impressed? It's just all of the hotfixes in one package basically. It's not meant to be an upgrade or anything of the sorts.
  8. A faq would require a lot of work by a member. I guess anyone could volunteer, but I have found that as long as you are good at searching you will most likely find what you need. How are you supposed to suppress all of the information in a whole section into one thread? Also, it would be opinionated. Each person has a way of doing things.
  9. Just keep in mind. Text is easy to host. Hosting images or videos or anything of that sort on a popular site can be quite expensive. I decided to start my own forum. It combines all of the things from other sites that I like basically. The one thing I have found though, is that even though MSFN is a great site to find out about unattended installations, it deals with your standard user who just wants to rebuild their PC. My website will take a more professional approach to this as well as having information about network installation methods and mass software update methods. I love MSFN and all of the others, but I can never seem to find information that would work in a large corporate environment. If you want a popular site you just have to bring something that noone else is, or offer the goods of many sites in one location. I'm sure you will come up with something.
  10. Now... if you already have an MSI you want to edit, then I recommend Orca. You will need to know a little bit about the product and MSI's to use it though. I used it to edit the default selected properties when you install a program.
  11. Maybe this helps? http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...6&Product=winxp
  12. There is a SEARCH function and there is an unattended page. http://unattended.MSFN.org I don't know that a FAQ would do much good because you would just have to search through it anyways.
  13. Actually... I don't know if I will be able to give it a try today. We are migrating from a Windows 2K Server box to a new Windows Server 2k3 box some time this morning. I will let you all know when I have had a chance to give it a try. Thanks for your help guys
  14. Greenmachine: As I said before... it is not a CD build. It is on RIS. The file path is actually c:\$win_nt$.~ls\$OEM$\ I have been trying to launch it from both the cmdlines.txt and a batch file. I will attempt to use the ".\" path as I would have been already, but that is one thing I forgot Thanks for your help guys. I will give it a try and let you all know how it turns out
  15. Ok. I do not do unattended CDs, I deal with RIS. It's a completely different beast all together, but basically the same. My question is, what method are you all using to import reg keys during cmdlines.txt? I am unsuccessful each time I try to do it. I do not need to see everyone's regkeys, just the command to import them. I thought it was "regedit /s something.reg" but that does not seem to work for me during cmdlines.txt. Thanks! Edit: I just wanted to point out... the working directory during RIS cmdlines.txt is "$win_nt$.~ls\$OEM$" Just in case anyone asks.
  16. just FYI. If you were unable to extract an MSI file from the EXE then you could use programs such as InstallSheild or VISE, or there are many others. Some of them are quite expensive (IS is thousands of dollars) but they all offer trial periods.
  17. I have not had trouble with this in the past. Just copy the ISS file to the same location as the EXE and launch the EXE with a -s switch. What program are you having these troubles with?
  18. I might take you up on that after I change the domain name and decide to take it live. I am not quite ready to jump into full administration right this second. I am still working on some things.
  19. A program would not install "hardware" You just need to update your video drivers most likely.
  20. I would attempt to reinstall the video drivers. I would also verify that the video card is not loose. Start there. Let me know what you come up with.
  21. I would recommend that if you are wanting to create a decent forum site that you lose the "free" hosting. I recommend emaxhosting.com (XPerties company). I signed up with an account there not too long ago, and I am pleased. Fast site and a lot of built in features. I won't post my site here out of respect for the forums, but if you are interested in checking it out please let me know. I will PM you the link.
  22. This is the same method as using a BCC field. BCC=Blind Carbon Copy Welcome to the forums! See ya around.
  23. *bump* Like I said.. my topics never seem to get any answers. Just wanted another go-'round to see if anyone knew.
  24. I have some advice... BUY the program and then call the company that created it for technical support.
  25. how about holding SHIFT and scrolling back. or using the BACKSPACE key. Those are also ways to go back. The only problem with the link at the bottom is that I do not view topics in sections, I view them as "new posts" The link at the bottom doesn't really help me out at all. Cool concept though.
