Convert .exe To .msi ?

Featured Replies

I am trying to silent install diskeeper 8 now.

Having searched the threads I see people use .msi to silent install.

How do I convert an .exe to .msi ?

thanks

Well here's a guess. Run the exe, and as setup is in front of you look at %tmp% for the .msi file.

Gosh´s tips works for me :)

You just abort the install before the last step and You will find the .msi

in Your ?:\windows\downloaded installation map. Good luck.

Dont you just love this site.. yet another issue sorted

Thanks gents, found it in the place swedenXP suggested :)

just FYI. If you were unable to extract an MSI file from the EXE then you could use programs such as InstallSheild or VISE, or there are many others. Some of them are quite expensive (IS is thousands of dollars) but they all offer trial periods.

Now... if you already have an MSI you want to edit, then I recommend Orca. You will need to know a little bit about the product and MSI's to use it though. I used it to edit the default selected properties when you install a program.
