  1. Need the specs on you machines to really help, but have you tried plugging your drive into all of your externally available USB ports? And do you get the same error with all of them?
  2. What external devices do you have attached to the system? Every time I have run into this with XP it has been a problem with registry permission for a specific device driver, normally USB devices.

  4. Who is your internet service provider? How is it delivered to your home? How do you physically connect to it? Do you have to authenticate to your ISP before you can browse the web, or is it handled by your DSL/Cable modem/Other?

  9. You should be able to put the old motherboard back in, then install the drivers for the new RAID controller, just right click the INF file and select install. Works 4 out of 5 times. never hurts to have a backup also.
  10. get a hub/switch/router and instead of a crossover cable connect everything through that. But this all epends upon what you have for your internet service and how you have to connect to it.

  12. Just because it boots and works does not indicate that it will work for an install from an OS. There are options within nLite to remove the ability to install from within another OS.
  13. did you remove anyhting when you created the cd with nLite?
  14. another good place to look at existing script is the Microsoft scriptcenter http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/default.mspx
  15. I don't think you are going to be able to create the partition setup you need without third party tools. You may be able to create the partitions (they should be two primary partitions I believe) but you will need something to change the recovery partition to type 12.
  16. if you have firewire you can do it with a standard firewire cable and the firewire network connection created by XP. You have to manually set an IP address to both connection to ensure they can see each other. The automatically assigned private IP's are not always on the same subnet and then you cannot connect to the other machine. Or get a network crossover cable, and again assign ip addresses to the network connections. Or get a USB data transfer cable and the associated software, laplink like software in some cases, others mount the other machine as a network drive.

  23. Different switch and location in the answer file but yes you can move the program files folder also. [unattended] ProgramFilesDir="C:\My Program Files" Again the destination folder must be formatted before anything can be written there or you will get errors or flat out failure.
  24. You will need to change the partition ID back to what it was before you changed it to 07 so that it would be visible. You should also be formatting it the same as it was when you captured it, though this might make little difference this depends upon what "OS" the recovery runs.
  25. WORD 447: DUNE
